Sometimes pulling the lever back to the bar and holding it there overnight with a tywrap helps.

I put some kingspan under the roof. There’s a cutout in it so I can add a feeder but to do this requires an eek. I also put the super underneath so they lay in the brood box if I don’t get to them in the new year.

Only thing I have to add to the comments above is try something like a brynje layer under the merino. It’s the only thing I’ve found that allows you to have the benefits of the wool without the too many of the negatives.

Done a few sets with cheap pistons from China. They come pre-assembled so no messing with the seals. I only tried to remove one once and failed too. Hardest bit was remembering to fit the shim that isn’t shown in the SRAM build manual. Certainly removed the sticky piston issue. Get a decent pair of circlip pliers. I use Knipex 44 11 J1.

I rebuilt a set of Guide RS levers with the chinese aluminum pistons. £13 for both sides via Ebay. Took a couple of weeks for the parts to arrive. Easy to do, takes 5-10 mins with the right circlip pliers. Much nicer action afterwards. I have 2 sets of Guide R to do next.

Just rebuilt my levers with aluminium pistons from China. £13 for a pair of pistons via ebay. Easy to do apart from needing a decent set of circlip pliers.

Don’t take this the wrong way but feel free not to move here. Nothing personal, just venting. I’ve been here 40+ years. Harrogate has been completely shafted by incomers to the point that no-one born here has a chance buying a house unless their parents are well off. The traffic is mental, the new housing estates that are popping up everywhere due to the council being rubbish and corrupt start at £1/4 million and go north fast. There aren’t many proper jobs that don’t require a commute. Not having a Tesco makes us quite exclusive I suppose. My kids will never have a house here.

Johndoh – try Scotton Tree Care. My lad’s a tree surgeon but he does powerlines and hasn’t got time to bring the good stuff home.

I’m also a Harrogate dweller, 40+ years. You should have asked the driver if he had need of your services…

Unfortunately there’s something in the water that makes too many people believe they have unique rights. Had the police round last night to talk to a neighbour about parking etiquette. She believes the road is her land…

Work out from Thule what parts you want/need, Bars, foot pack and adapters. Then search on ebay and gumtree. I got wingbars, feet, adapters and a 591 bike rack for under £150 this way.

Fluxient U2 on ebay, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fluxient-Torch-Bike-Light-U2-Mini/113197998342?hash=item1a5b206106:g:ru4AAOSwvmxbcIPW. Brilliant. I have 2 sets of cheap chinese ones from Aliexpress. Can’t fault them.

I always find the part no. for the Mintex front set. Look on ebay. Will be well under £100 for discs and pads. My Arosa was £51. An hour for the lot if I’m being lazy.

I did this on my CdF. The Shimano cassette was a bargain on one of the German sites. The ratios were the same. Easy choice. Just works with a Chinese wolf link.

Park at the Swinsty reservoir car park and ride into the woods to the west. Managed to get a 10 mile loop out of there.

I’m 6’5″, 100kg. I use an XL Rab Boreas pull-on with a Brynje string vest or Ulvang merino base layer. So far I’ve managed to get 3 for under £35 each.

We’d covered the hire and reward by looking to use a scout group owned vehicle. There’s also a limitation when there’s more than 8 passengers. I can’t remember the detail on that.

The law in the UK is less strict than Europe. Read this. We wanted to take a groups of Scouts and ended up using multiple cars instead.
