    Was his bike ok?

I think so. I thought initially the forks were a bit off, but looking a bit more carefully I think they are ok. Think he is getting new forks this weekend anyway.

Haven't had the ticking off yet. No doubt that will come when I drop him back home tonight.

Hopefully it will be reduced after fixing his brakes, giving him a nice gilette and a set of crud catchers I had spare.

Worst things are to come though, when he inventively tells the missus in the next hour or so when I pick her up, she will give me an ear full for days.

350,000 Won North East of Seoul at rush hour to Suwon – bottle of Black Label in the back with my mate trying to get to another bar where friends were.

Maybe we should start the "how much have you paid for a drink in a bar " thread

I'll start 600,000 Won for a bottle of whisky in a bar in Seoul. Got well and truly stung on that round.

You had 2k to be pulled straight out of your current account? Are you one of those 40% tax rate payers who milked the CTW scheme?

Used to have a Varadero 1000 – could ride it all day and not feel tired, but it was crap at corners.

    Narrower tyres clean mud better!

I'm a bit portly though. I was eyeing up some 1.7 mud tyres, but I might end up with oval wheels

This was hundreds ( ???) of times bigger than a safari park – we have one in Scotland anyway.

Which is rubbish now that the monkey's can't pull the windscreen wipers off.

I was only a nipper back in the early eighties, but I remember my old man taking me up to Lagan to show me how low the water was and onto another loch that Alcan used for the hydro up there.

Caused havoc that year at the smelter. Pretty sure that was the year of strikes as well.

I've paid for items on BR and it's taken 8 days for the funds to get there. Still 950 no communication, sounds like it's gone.

    The Graveyard Book –

I first listened to this driving the car, fantastic story, really surprised that I liked it. Listened to a few others of his now and I really enjoy his style of writing. The Ansi Boys and Stardust were excellent as well.

Neil Gaiman reads most of them as well and does all the accents which was a bonus. Lenny Henry reads The Ansi Boys

Depending on your qualifications there are lots of jobs out there that pay good money on rotation not in a war zone.

You might have to work up the ladder for two or three years and work out in the desert but it's doable.

Years back I applied for a job in Iraq working at one of the universities in the green zone, didn't get it, never noticed that it said Americans only on the application form., steal the oil and take all the choice jobs.

If you can get into the oil industry a couple of years back there were big money jobs in Nigeria paying silly day rates for working there with decent rotations as well.

    Local ride

Hexham common or another route around that way.- haven't tried that yet.

Hamsterley – never been there yet either.

Nephew is down for a few days and is a keen rider, who still has the 13 year olds no fear thing going on as well.

Fingers crossed he doesn't brake himself

That is the problem with this country, community service has got too short. When I was a lad if you did bad, you had to clean the graffiti off the walls, not ride bikes around the hills.

    Cheers.

Just now been tinkering with my old Binatone Satnav to get it working with memory maps and routes. Don't see it being too accurate, but it should do the job until I melt my brain with GPS stuff.

Go Outdoors also had the GPS 60 in for 129 with carry case and bike mount, but it looks like a big bugger to me.

You are an easy ride to Newcastle as well. Straight down from Hexam to Corbridge to Prudhoe to Wylam then follow the river down to Newcastle. Should be about 25 miles each way, but it's easy riding.

Have a look at Beyond Hamsterley for a route around that way and several others in the area.

A bar of soap produces interesting sculptures

I've seen a video showing plasma balls in the microwave, haven't tried it yet.

Years ago a friend, whilst somewhat worse for wear, cooked an egg in it's shell in the microwave. The egg never exploded, he carried it into the living room in the egg cup and touched the top to cut it off, a huge bang and hot egg went everywhere. A large portion of it was on the old victorian height ceilings.

Happened to me a couple of weeks back.

Hit my head hard enough on a tree root to make me sit there and assess what had happened and why was my leg stuck (stuck in the wheel between the spokes)

Mrs Q is can shift with the right shifters in her dual control all in one rapid fire v-brake combo but can't on the left.

I had been considering getting her a gripshift and now think I shall.

At work we have an Africa Clawed frog. It eats pinkies, is an albino and I hate it. Looks like a cartoon frog.

Saying that though, the chickens stalk me, the horse hates me, and the goat and I are best friends.

I know quite a few lads who like to 'juice'. Not close friends so I have no idea if they do it properly or if they just jab and lift.

Hopefully they just jab and lift, knacker their hormonal system and can't reproduce.
