having phoned the 'physio assessment line' this morning for an over the phone consultation I was advised non urgent referral so 9 weeks, which is fine, as it's not urgent in the overall scale of things. Got a call half an hour ago – 'would 0830 next Tuesday suit you' good old NHS

Just had much the same today for the missus.

Doc said about three months wait two days ago, got a call today, can we come in Monday.

Maybe the coalition has something to do with it.

Isn't it Reindeer you need to do that mushroom-toxin-filtering out wee drinking malarkey, or did I fall for a horrid ruse at boarding school?

How did you get the reindeer to eat the mushrooms in the first place before drinking their wee? I'm calling PETA

masses of flyagaric (or flysopp here in Norway) blocking the trails

I love them, not to eat them mind never was into stomach cramps, but the look, sometimes I get down to eye level with them and pretend i'm Alice.

I love it still, resurrected it and replaced the hinges myself. A bit of glue here and there and it still runs, just a bit noisy.

Same can't be said for the wife's compaq that got hurled across the room. by accident though, had it on top of the dresser, caught the cable and in one of those can't believe it's physics moments, it catapulted across the room bounced on the bed and straight into the en-suite bathroom onto the tile floor and against the sink.

Can I claim for my smashed laptop on my house insurance? I never thought about it until now, just accepted I had broken it.

Would I send them the laptop in bits and is it ok to remove the HDD first to keep my files safe?

If the end is a plastic cone.

Burn the end off and use a paper-lcip to undo the clasp inside.

    A longish story.

Bought my R60 in Bangkok, with three years international warranty.

Moved to Korea, fan played up, crap customer service, complained to Sam Palmerston the boss of IBM (really), took two days to get it picked up and serviced, then hand delivered by the head of Lenovo Korea, his head technician and the lad who dealt with my call – they also gave me an IBM cup as an apology.

Fast forward another 9 months, fan goes again, replaced again in Korea.

Return to the UK, fan goes again, picked up and then called to ask what the problem was exactly – fan error, oh sorry sir your computer screen, case, keyboard are all smashed up, we will fix them.

fan goes again, sent out sent back still not working,

and again it goes, sent out still not working

Fan goes again – customer service say they will extend warranty by six months, send it in to their secret head quarters in scotland – Thinkpad picked up and sent off.

Two weeks later phone call – did I send it? Yes. Oh.
    Week later they find it.

Two weeks later I get an email from a guy in romania or somewhere like that telling me it's customer damage and they aren't replacing it.

Complain to IBM – they call appologise, their hands are tied they know it's gone down hill very sorry.

Machine is returned to me with cracked keyboard, screen surround, back of case, hinge and to top it off they wiped the HDD saying illegal copy of windows, even when there is a serial number on the bottom of machine

Love the keyboard, but the company are a bunch of c***s

Chemically paralyse him then for the duration of his life and if it turns out he's not guilty then it can be undone.

I found a perfect Fly Agaric the other day riding up a hill. I wanted to take it home but had nothing to carry it in. Plus I don't know any shamans any more, so would be unable to get them to eat it then drink their pee.

Except that the convicted knows about the laws of his country and the possible consequences of his actions and still went ahead and did it anyway.

And now he is going to be paralysed for it. Or should he be rehabilitated for his crime so he doesn't do it again. Much like the other man can be rehabilitated for being paralysed

Brake cleaner….I'll stop that now I think.

Maybe one of those powerballs might help.

I would just get some bio washing powder and dissolve that in water.

Should have the same effect as muc-off. Muc-off is slightly alkaline as well, but not sure the effect that would have on the enzymes in the biopowder, presume none so chuck in a little bit of caustic or baking powder to the solution.

OK I have one pair that I fitted to the SS for Mayhem this year but haven't used in mud and don't work well in the dry! So unless you ride at Eastnor why bother?

Because my tyres are great in the dry and the damp, but when the going gets muddy they get a bit clagged up.

Except it doesnt! We see this from crime rates in countries that still use capital punishment.

The risk of death for a crime or the risk of being paralysed?

Surely being paralysed would be worse than death.

One is over and done with, the other goes on.

Some will say barbaric, yet surely it would discourage crime if the punishment was matched.

Easy mistake to make on when checking the amount as well. You don't generally expect the retailer to mess up the decimal place.

I'm going to have to start checking more regularly

I use this Jagwire Kevlar from this seller.
Fast postage and it does the job nicely

I used Muc-Off to pretreat a manky carpet before attacking it with a rug doctor.

    It worked.

Would buying the light unit only and then using a better quality RC battery pack be an option?

    Something like that http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/8-4V-NiMH-3800mAh-Battery-Pack-RC-Tank-Car-Airsoft-/180460326781?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN

    That's what I'm thinking.

For 18 quid, some massive grips that from the MTBR reviews look like they are a decent deal.

If I could find a reason to break the 50 quid barrier on Ribble they become 8 quid a pop.

Except cleaning bike brakes. DO NOT USE IT! It leaves oil all over the brakes which presumably on car brakes stops them from rusting, but they generate the heat to burn it off. Bike brakes do not, and you won't clean them by any other solvent, or fire. Trust me.

    Here we go.

If you think that, you're one off.

Don't think One-Off would make a good bike company name.

When mine go spongy. I just level the levers pop the caps and give them a good pump, leave it for five, pump again, leave for five, repeat a third time and they have always firmed up.

Now I've said that I bet it all goes tits up.

He should put it on Ebay, expecting an inflated amount then when he doesn't get it just not sell it to the winning bidder.

I love MEK. One of the greatest solvents ever (apart from water).

DCM might make a good go of it as well, not sure if you can still buy small bottles it or not.

I'm still impressed that 4 quid has caused so much debate.

God knows what happens if it was 10 pounds. Does the whole of STW boycott the internet?

The on-one long sleeved XXL top arrived today.

I think maybe they sent an a child's XXL top, surely it isn't meant to be THAT tight across the gut.

I put the man in the photos to shame.

I don't use either of my LBS now.

Both are rude, both only care about customers spending lots of money, both have no interest in my repeat returns for little bits and pieces, which may end up in buying a bike, but not from either of those shops.

I much prefer the faceless internet business now

Back in the old days of my life in Newcastle which involved raves, psytrance hippies and general misbehaviour.I met a group of street performers that road around the country on oddly shaped bike, all high up and long runs of chain to carry their stilts and stuff, like the Bristol fellas but more extreme

Met them in a forest party I had helped organise and later that weekend, Jubilee weekend or whatever we celibrated for the queen in 2000/1 back in Newcastle a good 30 miles having ridden up and down steep hills to get to the party there.

No idea what happened to them.

Depends if they are being honest about the stock levels or not.

I've had stuff from DX in days and have had stuff that took 9 months due to their system being gash

Dont use white spirit it leaves an oily residue, oh its ok actually, we're not talking about brakes this time!

    😆

Brake cleaner has lots of uses.

Not sure if UK cleaner is still diethyl-ether or not. Smells similar, but smells can be deceiving.

Nobby and tinribz – Having followed a route at the weekend from the guide that wasn't clear to me, I missed off half the ride and ended up going back by road.
