but are mud-x worth the extra 13 quid over the pair of swampthings for 30 quid

    elf,

I love scientific instruments, what do you have for sale just now?

My old man makes some decent wedge on there selling collectables and antiques, been at if for years. Some people will spend silly money for – 100 quid postage on my old cannon ball to America, which is where it had come from 10 years previously when we lived in Canada.

78 quid for a paper milk bottle lid.

125 quid for a speaker drver that was too heavy to pick up by one person, shipped to Japan, can’t remember what the shipping was now, but extorionate and the guy bought more stuff later.

    Swampthing vs Mud-x

I can pick up 2.35 swampthings for 30 quid or a pair of mud-x for 43 quid.

Are the mud x 13 quid better of tyre or not?

My mate and I put up a bike shed this weekend, he in a previous life has tested the security of sheds without the owners permission (note: he is now reformed)

Using my masses of spare wood and bits and pieces he advised and helped with the upgrading of the security. Not finished yet. New hinges are to be fitted with renforcing behind them. all seams of the shed are to be reinforced with 1″x1″ screws at different angles

Ultimately his advice was that my real outcome is to make it as awkward as possible for a thief to get into the shed and get at the bikes. All screw ends are drilled smooth so they can’t be removed. massive bolts into the floor from one door padlocked shut top and bottom.

If a thief is going to get your bike, he’s going to get it, if he has to make a lot of noise, then the chances are he will go to the next shed along the street.

Yes but it’ll cost you hundreds of pounds to fly to Thailand, and the carbon footprint’ll be a tad large.

This is a cycling forum, elf. No carbon footprints to see here, just tired legs.

Quirrel does he recommend anywhere in oarticular for the tops and sinks???

Not really as far as I know.

He’s not really doing it hands-on day to day, he’s the MD of a construction company, but obviously has to have a good idea of what is going on in terms of building tips and tricks to put bids in.

Although he says he is quite handy at fitting a kitchen now having done three for himself and other family.

I was looking at taps (as you do) when last in B&Q and just about spat everywhere when I saw mixer taps at 100 quid a pop, looked nice though. Fancy magnetic holders and extendable heads, they certainly wowed me into wanting them.

Beat it about its head until it softens a bit then screw it
    off

He had thought about getting a hammer down the hole and whacking the end of it, but decided that it gushing everywhere and not being able to turn it off probably wasn’t a good idea.

    lefty loosey, righty tighty. HT

Tried both, including a liberal dose of wd-40 as well to unseize it.

Surely another STW member has had a stiff cock before and found an ingenious way to loosen it.

My brother is in the trade and has told me to go to Howdens get them to quote, if they will give me their trade discount without the hassle of his company ordering then great, if not then he will order the bits for me and invoice me directly.

His general recommendations were to get the kitchen units from Howdens, the tops from somewhere else as I can probably get a better deal.

Get a joiner to fit the tops properly and do the rest myself.

oh and to fit soft close kits and posh taps to cheap sinks. Apparantely the women come into houses when looking to buy open and close the drawers and see the soft close, cream themselves, then notice the posh taps, and ignore the cheap sink.

If it is an old coconut, not much

If it’s a fresh young green coconunt, stick it in a bucket of ice, cut the top off when cool, drink the lovely juice, eat the soft flesh, then balk at the fact it probably cost you 3quid and yet you could have picked one up for 20p from a roadside stall in Thailand.

I met Jesus once, he was on the MRT in Bangkok, I think he was German, and had come back to earth to cleanse Bangkok of it’s vice’s or some such story.

He was going up to couples on the MRT, forgiegn and local and speaking to them about the ten commandments. I missed my stop because I was too busy watching his actions.

He made me break the 11th Commandment – Thou shalt not be late to meeting ones wife for her birthday lunch.

And can you all ride through and not around dog poop.

    Glitter Gary Said:

Whenever I see a muddy puddle I stop, retrieve a straw from my backpack and drink the fluid in order to leave the trail dry for others.

    It really is quite tasty!

Do you crack out your knife and fork as well?

Its strange how people think that posting on STW about an injured rider on a trail will get a full response of details of the person as STW dwellers are probably 1% of the total riding population!

I am always surprised when I go to the airport and find lots of others there catching flights as well.

Most bank holiday weekends I make the mistake of thinking of popping to the Metrocentre to grab some shopping from one of the supermarkets, only to find that lots of people have had the same idea and gone as well.

My weekend riding was curtailed by a viscious fever on Thursday evening breaking in the early hours then bloody well coming back at 11am just before the start of my three hours marathon session with some pretty troublesome teens.

Ruined any chance of a Saturday ride, but did allow me to put up a shed, which then ruined any chance of today’s ride, due to having to finish it.

I enjoy a power wheelie over puddles. Guarantees a reduction in wet-time and an increase in the chance of my mate getting wet from my spray back…..unless of course it’s on the moors and my power wheelie lands me just at the edge of the puddle which turns out to be about two foot of mud, stopping the bike dead, but of course not me.

What did you want to use it for?

I got some with my mukcy nutz mudguard and it works a treat holding things around things – I think that makes sense.

It would be ideal for my bastid and for this project for holding stuff in place.

At one of my old houses we had half a dozen or so cats around us. From buisers to fluffy balls of fur.

Our front garden, for some reason, was the meeting patch, where in the warmer, drier weather, all the cats would sit in a circle around the garden looking at each other. Never fighting or causing each other any bother, just sitting in the shade or in the sun relaxing in their own little car worlds.

    All very strange

Sit back and waits for the wife to ask why I’m giving money away on Paypal whilst wandering why Paypal is setup in her name with my bankcard

Because you got banned from Ebay as well, and had to open up Paypal in her name.

A friend bought a scale 70 as his first real bike, a few years old, second hand, but at the time it looked like a really good purchase.

His only real regret is the somewhat racy angles of it all, especially when we go down some steepish bits and he feels like he’s going over the top all the time.

A set of Titex Hellbents that I had in the spares box helped a bit, and hopefully a 60mm exxotic stem will arrive soon to push him up and back a bit.

stolen from Swindon today, cheers folks I know its a long shot but anythings worth a try

They wouldn’t sell stolen goods at a bike jumble, would they? Not in Bristol the bike theft capital of the UK.

So if you have pics of the items, why not post them in the first place? Surely that would help sell it rather than having to fanny around sending individual pics to people.

Is it because you’re lazy and don’t want to put them up?

I bought Clubber’s ’04 model and have fallen in love with it. Ticks all my boxes at the moment for me.

Still got 100mm on the front, still haven’t had a chance to check for the spacer in my 318’s and/or put my hand in my pocket for some 140mm forks.

well i’m here now and if by nothing changed you mean still not finished then you’d be right

utter utter mental hole of a place

i’m with a few people who’ve been to quite few cities in Africa and they agree that Lagos seems to have no redeeming features

the drive in from the airport was on of the most frightening, exhilarating and boring things i’ve ever done, all at once.

nothing is finished, anywhere, everybody above basic staff level just lies to you to shut you up although the ‘bottom of the pile’ staff seem to be ok (the worst culprit is sadly a scot)

i can honestly say i can’t wait to get back on the plane, if i make it to the airport in one piece that is!

And to cap it all off the hotel is the most expensive i’ve ever stayed in, the drinks and food cost more than a 6 star hotel in Dubai or the Landmark in london and at least there you get 5 star service.

    [/GRUMP]

to be fair though, makes you realise how monumentality privileged we are in our cosseted ‘oh no services are being cut, damn this recession, we’re all doomed’ land

Ah culture shock. Can’t beat it.

I ordered the short sleeved jersey, and it is very tight. Haven’t been out in it yet, but it might have to be under a jacket.

The long sleeved looked tight in the photo, but it took two people to pull it around me. in XXL

    Strange sizing
