40 deg temp! Are you sure? Get to the docs, pronto

Last time I had one of my annual 24 hour flu burn ups I got up to 41 on my digital thermormeter for a couple of hours. I wasn’t overly happy at that point and made the decision that if it hit 42 I would call an ambulance.

It never did. Fever all of a sudden broke and I pretty much squirted sweat from every pore for hours until I felt fine again.

My mates all had MF or Emelle’s back in the day. I had a Raleigh Mustang in Vaporized Maroon, made of steel tubing filled with lead (it felt like) and non-indexed gears.

Was this on a trunk road???

    Nope.

City centre, outside the 7-11 near my house.

I once got chased by angry elephants as well, but that was another story

    An elephant.

Rounded a corner and nearly hit it in the dark, because it didn’t have it’s red tail light on.

My MIL is a 70 year old Thai women who has a hard enough a time using her mobile let alone a computer.
Her average day is 10 hours of meditation before walking to the local market and returning home to cook, clean, watch her soaps, harass my cat and then go to bed.

god love her when she was shown skype and got to see Mrs Q for the first time in a yar, the house, garden, snow and everything else we could get the laptops to. Her face was an absolute picture.
Even more so when she went off screen lay down on the sofa and carried on yakking away with Mrs Q, who had to point out she needed to be in front of the camera for her to see each other.

It’s a case for protecting a banana. How could that possibly go wrong?

I was thinking of getting two of the apple protectors as well……..and well you can imagine what that might look like wrapped up.

If you have access to an SDS drill you can hire diamond hole cutters that correlate to a half brick size. If you get one with a long enough shank you will be able to drill through both walls in one go. To drill out a brick sized hole simply drill two side by side and if necessary square the edges off with a hammer and a cold chisel.

Got two SDS drills in the house just now. A lovely plethora of tools loaned by friends and family for my eventual, perpetual kitchen install

I have one of those fancy saws reciprocating saws as well.

Fan is on internal wall ducting will run to outside.

Thanks for the advice on the drilling pilot holes.

The plaster on the inside is crap so not worried if I lose a chunk drilling outside in.

I presume from looking at the ducting, which is slightly less than brick sized that it will allow me to bridge the cavity.

It has a run of hard plastic ducting that connects to a convertor to that changes it to a flexible drier type pipe.
The outside vent is brick sized.

    Got a jigsaw as well.

The outside brick will be easy enough, then. What is the easiest way to do the same inside brick? Will the internal and external bricks be aligned?

What about the cavity wall filling?

Think yourself lucky. I sold a coat to someone on here and when their postman delivered it he signed his wifes name and either left it somewhere unknown or kept it for himself.

My old postie in Wylam used to do that for letters that would fit through the letter box, he would then post it through. Handy, but surely naughty.

So postierich, are you saying that Mrs Q, sitting in the living room, 5 foot from the front door, must have not heard the postman knocking on the door, and left him to post the card through.

Toss. He or one of his bosses is lazy, over parceled or one of the two.

I don’t mind picking it up, the sorting office is 200yards down the road, but I do object to sticking notes through the door saying we weren’t in when we were.

i bought 75kgs of rock salt from Ebay, 28 quid delivered tomorrow evening.

Picked up 6kg of table salt at netto for 23p per kg.

After deicing last night it’s easy to see why she thought it was ok to walk along the path, ice sheet was about 2m long and 1m wide, you couldn’t really see it was there.

Buckled alloy and potential wheel bearing replacement too. Been quoted £315 just for the subframe by a Renault specialist (not dealer) so looking like an insurance job.

    Be careful out there

Get down the scrappy and pick one up there. Where I got mine from all those moons ago.

    Depends what sort of tag.

Generally, it’s a burn the plastic end open and then twiddle with the the bit inside to get it off.

Only disadvantage to this is if it’s an ink pack, however if it goes off, straight into hot water and you can save the item.

Note:never shop lifted in my life, but had the experience of spending time with a heroin addict and friends when he was trying to come clean.

gulftalent.com is one that I get regular emails from.

It really depends what you want to do. Are you looking for more of the same or a change in lifestyle altogether.

I cut my teeth working in private schools in Thailand teaching science, no formal teaching qualifications, just had to give it a go and see how it went. 8 years on and I’m back qualified (nearly) in the UK teaching.

An easy option for getting out of the uk is the education sector. It is a big risk that you get stuck in it and only ends up as life experience, however I know plenty of people who have made a move then found work through contacts in other countries once there and working their mundane teaching jobs.

    Risky option though.

Try for the oil industry, head out to the Middle East and make some decent money, use that to see the world.

Where in the UK are you? My mate will take you to an auction if you are in Newcastle. All he wants from it is 50 quid when you buy a car.

He’s done it for a few people now.

So if you’re stuck there in the traffic and you need to go for a dump, what do you do? Seriously! This is the sort of thing I worry about.

Do you go in the car, maybe using a plastic bag or is it a squat at the side of the road.

They’re a clever bunch, the Koreans. And there was no snow. Not keen on Kimchi…

The missus and I miss Korea. Hopefully in a few years we will be able to go back there, if the right job came up.
