The employment laws here protect the employee and work against the employer.

Since I started this job, I have removed 4 members of staff, all long term, all have taken us to the labour courts. All have lost, but it has taken a huge amount of my time. One we only lost because I spotted criminal activity and the threat of 6 separate charges each up to 9 years ago made him back down.

I have a particularly weak teacher on staff, who was warned three months into his first year that if he didn’t sort out his teaching he was out, support was in place. Exam results came out it was clear he had to go, first day of the new school year I told him his contract wouldn’t be renewed and to start looking for work for the next academic year.

It took half a dozen or so separate meetings for him to get the message. It has had a huge impact on his wife and kids who are also at the school.

Eventually I convinced him to resign so that I didn’t have to say in any future reference he hadn’t renewed his contract.

I can’t give him a decent reference, he is shit at teaching, although I have put him in touch with some schools who will hire anybody.

Personally I can’t stand the guy, or his wife. I have never, ever, worked with anybody as naive as the two of them. It is very hard to keep those feelings separate when having to yet again speak to them about some stupid thing they have done or said.

His nickname among the staff is manchild.

12 more weeks and they are gone, but there are feelings of guilt that I haven’t supported him enough, or his wife.

I was just looking at houses to rent and found a few with self contained tree houses, but they all wanted considerably more to rent the tree houses as well.

I had visions of me stumbling home and not wanting to disturb everybody, sleeping in the tree house, or pretending to go the shops, driving around the corner and hiding in the tree house for the day.

I guess the maids quarters will have to do instead.

May I suggest, rather than all this effort into making your farts stink, wear an adult nappy and shit yourself in the car.

The game will be over, and you will be victorious. Your boss will be amazed at how dedicated you are the cause and probably promote you.

You get the satisfaction of crapping your self in the name of a competition.

Maybe its all a ruse, and he’s something else in mind. Something he wasn’t allowed to talk about

Our old pet rabbit was toilet trained until my wife got her hands on it, then it just pooped everywhere.

Spent its days either trying to hump me, chew me, eat the ps2 console or attack our cat.

If I open it I finish it in a couple of days.

So over the last year probably only 4 bottles of whisky.

Two years ago, I don’t really know, the last three or four months of my job, a couple of bottles a week, plus all the bar drinking as well, prior to that, probably a bottle every week to two weeks. That was a bad year though.

Knocked that on the head when i left though.

Only suits that ever look right on me are the ones that are bespoke, anything off the shelf looks as if I am wearing a potato sack.

Now issues I have found with bespoke suits is, go to the gyme, gain a bit of bulk, now they don’t fit properly.

GO to the gym gain a bit of bulk and don’t burn off fat – hmmm, now you look like a fat **** in a suit

Swap is still 300 quid, although pricing I have seen so far for the Samsung is near 800, I imagine the X1 is going to closer to 1000, 900s will probably be the same

New Surface 3 128gb with cover is about 400. Does leave me a wth a broken sruface pro 3 as a laptop for other duties with the young un, but I lose screen size.

I need to buy Mrs Q a car.

    She wants a Nissan March, or a Honda Jazz, I think a ’93 940 with a 1-UZ V8 fitted, or a Cefiro 2.0 ’01 V6 is a better bet to keep the family safe.

I suspect I am going to lose on this.

It is recruitment season just now for me, and I get half a dozen exstaff members reapplying for jobs whenever they are advertised, including one tenacious one who applied for seven separate posts advertised.

I wouldn’t touch any of them, it always raises questions as to why, after xx years – ranging from 3 to 15 they haven’t progressed in their careers, and are reapplying for their old jobs.

That might be narrow minded, but my concerns over how rose tinted their glasses were is the main issue.

I am planning on moving out of provided housing, 100m from work, to one 15km away, which will cost me to live there to improve my work life balance.

Sounding stupid, but I am trying to make the opportunity of working at home, when I need to , be it evenings or weekends, so that I can see my family more.

100m from work, means it is too easy to stay in the office until 9pm everyday. That 15km away means I have to go home, if I do go home, I’m not going to head back to the office for a couple of hours.

I was once called “nonce **nt ” by a student, he then threw a chair at me.

Only called me it the once. So not sure if it was a nickname, he did come to apologise to me later, and, told me he knew I wasn’t a nonce, but I was still a bit of **nt sometimes.

    Great kids.

Depending on what it is cover it up.

A few years back, the only route to get chemicals for the school was to have them smuggled over the border from China in people’s cars

I ordered what I thought was 5 ampules of bromine, what I received, mixed in amoung the 3kg of group 1 metals inc 25m ribbon of lithium, and conc acids was a very leaky and smelly bottle of bromine – 500gms of the stuff.

There was no hazardous waste disposal available in country, no way to own up to having it as it was smuggled in, and not something that anybody else other than me would understand.

I hid it on the roof for a few days in a box, subzero temps so not too worried about it evaporating while deciding what to do with it.

Own up, own up after disposing of it, pretend it never happened and leave on roof, or get rid of it.

There were large piles of rubbish around the town in winter due to it not rotting. I thought I could just sling it in there and nobody would notice, but if it did leak, it might make national headlines.

Winds were strong in the evenings so I could pour it off the roof and and the cloud would be carried away, but it may be spotted.

Eventually I decided the best method of getting rid of it was to take a 2 mile hike into the mountains armed with arm length rubber gloves, goggles, a carried bag and telling my wife the rough direction i headed in just in case i poisoned myself.

Trekked around 2 miles in -25 degrees, through waist deep snow, over hills, around cliff faces to a remote area, unpacked the bottle, loosened the cap, and set at an angle so that it was always just heading towards the slightly undone cap. Nearly gassed myself on initially opening it and went home.

Nobody knew, nobody ever found out.
