i’m still a possibly, but if binners and hora are going then i’ll make a concerted effort to get along…

haha, that’s the stiffee’s other ‘feature’ at the moment!
i figured rather than waste money on buy another ISIS BB, it was time to change the setup completely and make it more of an all rounder… so it’s off with the e.13 and hussefelt crankset, and on with a stylo AM double with bash, all i need now is a front mech and 9 speed shifters… but it’s taking time to get the right stuff for the right price, plus i’ve been riding the big bike lately anyway…

and yes davey, the platters in a HDD are the “spinny metal bits”!

if it’s a leisurely jaunt, i may turn up over-equipped on the norco springy bike binners… unless i’m feeling any confidence with the stiffee (still not got around to swapping the drivetrain to a 2×9 from the 1×8 thug it it currently)…

AFAIK, The Castle on Oldham St still hasn’t reopened yet (it shut down late last year and is due to reopen any time now if it hasn’t already); but yeah, i’m told it has a great selection of beers there. i’ve played several gigs in the back room there too, it’s a real dump (holes in the ceiling, wires hanging out of the walls etc!) but still the only bar i’m comfortable going in on Oldham St these days…

hora, i’m still undecided about CM. i already know loads of people that go. and none of them could be described as “stunning”!

i’ve got that underground manchester book at mine too.
    but i think it’s steph’s, so i can’t really loan it out.

    BH- that’d be really nice.
we didn’t end up getting to the lakes last week, so no wonder you didn’t see us! i almost had time to get over for J’s nighttime jaunt last night, but sadly didn’t see the info quite early enough to have made it. next time though…

OMITN- yeah, all except one of them is completely free from animal products (actually, all the clif bars are, it’s one of their other products that has honey in i think, or some milk derivative)…

    burger.
was gonna go tomorrow as i’ve already got a ride planned for sunday that i can’t really call off, otherwise i’d have joined you…

eh? does that mean i shouldn’t join in or something?
    i’m confused…

monster got me my current job, without me even trying… but i agree, these days it’s a bit of a chore using it.
i find jobsite to be most useful, but i’m ‘just looking’ at the moment…

not tried them yet, but i should cos they’re all vegan.
only disappointing thing is the lack of most of the full range over here; have you seen how many different flavours of them you can get in the US? absolutely amazing…

at the moment i use nak’d raw bars. they’re good and tasty, but possibly a bit too “healthy” tasting for many folks…

if anyone else from the south manchester area (or massive) is going (hora, are you DEFINITELY going? ha!), and if it wouldn’t be stupid of me to ride my “freeride-lite” bouncy bike (norco six, as my stiffee is not quite in riding order and i doubt it will be by then either), then i wouldn’t mind coming along to this.
still never been to rivi, which is a bit rubbish considering how long i’ve lived here and how close it is…

that’s what i thought when i saw your first post in this thread smee…

    hahaha!
well i know a few people who already go to CM each month so maybe, yeah…
definitely gonna go to platt fields on the saturday though; i wanna ride the BMX track on my bouncy norco!

    CM?
i’m semi-tempted by it… i’d have to ride the stiffee though i think, unless i can get around to finally building my kona singlespeed ‘fun’ street/park bike…

hora, i’m getting by. still need to get out riding more, but also need to improve my fitness a hell of a lot.
it’s a bit weird getting used to living alone, but steph still lives in chorlton and we’re still mates/riding partners so socially it’s not so bad. i just have to see how things pan out. it’s not necessarily over forever, besides it’s going to be far from easy starting again for a 40something teetotal vegan punk that never wants kids and acts like one himself!

i’m planning on going to the platt fields ‘day’ thingy. and probably a few more events. not sure about going to delamere for the mtb day; may well be too many people there for it to be that much fun. we’ll see.

been to some of the events at all of the festivals held so far; the opening ‘party’ last year was annoying because i only went to see my mates’ band (hail brethren), but they got pushed back til about 2am or something stupid which is way too late for me these days!

yeah but the steerer is too short (by quite a bit; it’s 175mm off a small bike sadly)…

tony what length steerer would the frame need?

rats, i actually would have loved to have joined in with you lot but i’ve already arranged to go to roman lakes tomorrow instead. oh well, maybe come up to that next one with hora if it goes ahead…

i have nevegals front and rear on my norco six, essentially because that’s what it had on as standard and tbh they’re fine so far for my needs so why change them?
dunno if they’d be my clear first choice if i were buying new tyres, but i’d certainly consider them along with the other options…

if my budget constraints got lifted tomorrow, i reckon i could have a good go at spending £9billion on IT stuff here… make up for lost time, so to speak.

one of them was called “jizzy pearl”.
    oh dear.
very funny seeing them walking through the metrocentre in gateshead in full battle dress though many many years ago, the wacky glam rock weirdos…

i have a large pile of MBUK, MBR, WMB and dirt from the last 5 years or so that i advertised free to collectors on here. nobody local wanted them, and i’ve not managed to get over to glossop lately to drop em off with the only person who showed any interest. so they’re cluttering up my hall, and although it’s a sensible option i’m loathed to just chuck em in the recycling…

i all but gave them up a year or so ago, but i had a bag of ready salted walkers on the way back from llandegla yesterday. and i felt bad.

in other news, is there any chance you may be interested in guiding a couple of people around the roman lakes area this weekend? we’re considering heading over there one day…

i only go there a couple of times a year and it’s a fun place on those terms. i reckon i’d quickly hate it if i went too often.

    was at llandegla today.
other than a jaffa cake box a few hundred yards past the trail head, we didn’t see much/any litter…
fun day today, even with the sleet/hail around midday. it was sunny again within the hour…
