took me over 2 hours to get home from leeds at 11.30 last night due to the 62 being closed from j20 to j18. diverted down through chadderton then back up the 60 to simister. just sayin’…

Yeah, but you’ve not got long flowing locks like JY

    Why not, eh?

    2 options here:

    1. i did have, but it all fell out long before i was even veggie

    2. i would have, but i’m undercover infiltrating your slaphead gregg’s gang (and only half successful with it!)

a little FYI here, there is actually a non-animal, naturally occurring source of dietary B12- mushrooms. only in trace amount, and unclear as to whether it’s sufficient to prevent deficiency, however it is bioavailable.

for what it’s worth, I’ve been vegan for near 30 years, never taken a B12 supplement (in fact, the only supplement i do take is vit D3 and that’s nothing to do with diet) and i’m not deficient in any essentials.

I won’t be boycotting. I was in yesterday but the item I had ordered wasn’t in stock, however it would be arriving two days later. The fella in the shop offered to drop it off at my house rather than have me come back into the shop to get it. That’s pretty good customer service if you ask me.

was that item a number plate for your bike, by any chance?

another vote for the hotwalk, i picked one up 2nd hand a couple of years ago for about £50 for partner’s then 3 year old who was struggling with the regular bike/stabilisers that he had. the hotwalk is now safely stored away waiting for small boy to be less small.

I wonder when the actors find out that film is going to be crap one? Is it at first shoot or later in the process, I’d guess that initial phases of production are bit of mess in most cases anyway.

if you’re stephen baldwin, then you know the moment you get a casting call, i’d say.

there’s a great podcast called How did this get made?[/url], in which the hosts (plus guests) will have watched a pre-determined, usually terrible film, then spend an hour or so dissecting the awfulness of it. They sometimes look into the background/finances/stats too, it’s very entertaining and eye opening at times…

what is underwhelming about the aeropress for you? granted, it can’t really make a proper espresso,, but i find it makes damn fine coffee every time…

@kayak23, cobra zero is very possibly the worst tasting of them all. it is pure evil. i’m pretty certain it contains, or is entirely made up of satan’s urine.

New pixel 1s are on sale for sensible money now.

carphone warehouse have the XL for under 400, but no sign of the regular pixel. i’d prefer the regular; got any links for good priced unlocked new ones?

my nexus 5 is still okay-ish, but i’ve had it 4 years now so been considering replacing it. glad i waited until this year’s devices launch, now i’m gonna look for refurbed pixels to replace my nexus i think. don’t really wanna spend over 600 quid, and i don’t want/need to start a new contract (as i currently pay 9 quid a month for unlimited everything/10GB data thanks to O2 friends and family discounts!)
home mini is a great announcement though, def picking one of those up. stick one of my chromecast audios into my cambridge audio speaker and that’s that sorted.

it’s the usual suspects really. even bringing up the “you eat fake meat because you really want to eat actual meat” BS!

anyway yeah, not touched booze in 3 decades but given the advances (and yes, there’s been a lot) in alcohol free beers over the last 5-10 years i’ve recently got quite into a lot of them.
the weissbiers are probably my favourite, erdinger, schneider and maisels all do lovely tasting variants. innis and gunn do a “none” alcohol free IPA that’s very hoppy and tasty, better than brewdog nanny state for me (plus it’s not brewdog, who seem to be utter shitbags)…
lager/pils, i never really liked much anyway but becks blue is quite harsh tasting, i find. krombacher is much smoother. if cobra zero is still a thing, avoid. it tastes like licking a rusty battery. yes, i’ve tried.
that st peter’s that tesco sells is very tasty, very malty though. like a snack rather than a drink.

if you prefer to not drink alcohol free beers, then that’s great. lots more people nowadays don’t though, and that doesn’t make them bad people, or wrong, or somehow inferior.

plus, drunk people are easier to kill…

it took me almost 3.5 hours to get home from work last night, thanks to a variety of public transport woes that conspired against me. still, i did get to ride the 2-3 miles from my house to horwich parkway train station to go collect my car!

yeah, i realise that! sort of unavoidable, but i’m not sure it’s being judgmental so much as noticing an obvious trend? oh well.

not touched a drop for almost 30 years. before that, i was a complete idiot.
don’t care what anyone else does, but don’t expect me to clean up after you. i’ll be long gone when you get to that level of drunk, i feel very nervous around drunk folk.

    wow.
main thing to take from this thread is that yeah, stw hasn’t changed- there’s some awfully judgmental bellends on here still.

why do some of you care that other people might not eat or drink the same stuff that you do?

even prestwich artisan market? we dipped in for a second or two on sunday; it was HtS heaven. jewelry made from old guitar strings, the lot.

well for what it’s worth, none of the roads i needed to use were closed and i got home in 20 minutes (which makes a change, to be fair).

i’ve always eaten too quickly, and it’s definitely why i’m overweight too. despite knowing this, i find it almost impossible to change. i need to make more of an effort to be better. at everything.

same boat as HtS for me, i’m in no physical condition to ride a bike right now.
annoying, because i need to get back at it for the sake of my long term mental wellbeing i think. currently not really in a good place.

Exactly what everyone else said. I’d never considered there being a branch of veganism so strict that this would be an issue!

there isn’t. some people are just idiots, basically.

Only vaguely related but I had an amusing chat with my sister in law over the weekend. She has a “hardcore” vegan friend who is pregnant and had to “seriously think” about whether to breast feed their baby because, you know, breast milk comes from animals…

    yeah, she’s an idiot.
i see it as being all about consent; non-human animals do not/are unable to offer their consent for us to take and use their milk. human breast milk is quite obviously meant to feed human babies. that’s the difference.

If vegans want to earn the respect of normal people they need to stop publishing medical claptrap

peta really do NOT represent the views of any vegans i know, myself included. make sure you let the other normos know please. ta.
