There are NO pro riders at 24/12, doubt there’s even any full timers.

I stand corrected.. fast boys and girls i.e Torq Kona etc??

    Hi carlphillips

Well from the conversation this morning before 6am… People were packing and leaving in the early hours this morn.. The pro’s had pre ridden the course yesterday and were taken an hour + to get round due to condition.. if not mistaken last years your were looking 35-40mins and with the rain on top last night 8O

As great as the course maybe its by all accounts a mudfest ;-/ camping area alone was water logged and if anyone else did Mountain Mayhem will know the ground is just not shifting the water :(

I don’t have anything to prove and the team isn’t going to win, plus a 4hour drive for 12hr team of 4 will get very few laps in those conditions… So left with a training ride at home on the bike as not biblical here yet :)

    Rather gutted..

Team are down there at the moment and by all accounts it truly rained last night and is very very wet and said prob not worth the journey down for the 12hr event we are in :(

I did Mountain Mayhem couple weeks before so maybe a good idea not to go.. didn’t fancy another mm..

Jesus that is one to note… have press fit in a carbon frame too…

mind to ride a bike with a seized bb surely you’d notice this well in advance before that kind of damage would be done?? For the rare occasions this might happened?? imo lapierre should just do a warranty replacement!!

Gore ride-on here… easy to fit.. don’t know what all the fuss is about… last for years and silky smooth :)

Only slight problem they don’t fit my s-works due to have small cables runs and cables are a fat 5mm… don’t fancy drilling out near to a carbon frame ;-/

So if your forks were attached to the frame when you sent it back would you want them replacing too?? lol…

I like the idea but simple answer would be… No.

If its going to rain I hope it really pissing it down..

at least then the thick sticky mud will turn to wet watery thin stuff!! For most of the years done MM its been fine whilst it rains its when it starts to dry it becomes a thick mess… and of course being MM it never completely dries before it rains again…

I don’t think this has a great bearing on the future of 26″ wheeled bikes in races IMO.. the fact all the top end riders are getting pushed the 29r sponsored bikes at the moment.. and Specialized (to name one) are not even offering to sell the 26″ wheeled version this year in the UK!

End of the day its the rider not the bike is it not?

    personally…

Racing Ralph for the dry and

Nobby Nic for the wet (but most tyres will not help as mushed grass and clay is never a great mix)

At the end of the day… It should be what your are prepared to pay for something special for your loved one?? Is she worth something special (a one off) or is she cheap as chips??

Quality diamond, classic fitting you wouldn’t go wrong unless your other half has expressed a particular style??

Personally I got a independent jewellery maker and lots of various image to get a good idea and she did an amazing job… all the brownie points help lol.. no regrets…

    Highly rate

One interesting thing, though. My old frankenbike I valued at £600 – probably what you’d pay for it on ebay. Wheelies valued it at £1650 on the basis of adding up the component prices and finding an equivalent model. So the moral (or not) of the story is that I should have been less honest and insured it for nearer the new equivalent price.

I find you should always list the value of the bike you have for a like for like (new) and not a secondhand / custom built over time price

Is it that great if they seem so prone to breaking in the first place? Not the first time I’ve heard of them breaking…

A damn sight better than most.. easy to use, great support, clean!! 2009 pair of shoes (very well used).. replaced both the ratchets for free… can’t see any other brand/system doing that??

Have had a superlight for many years.. the newer shape freshened its looks and still rode well but as a few say… not as light as hoped and always wished they did the carbon make over on this model and not the blur/nomad.. that said I also said fair well to the superlight and have just jumped ship to a carbon full sus… lighter, stiff, faster!!!

    xcstu

Yep had the same thing.. was forced to take a bike I didn’t want in the end and then sold it straight away on ebay to get my money back… They won’t particularly helpful if you had a bike they don’t stock or have kit that breaks the norm spec on a lot of bike ;-/ don’t rate them thats for sure!!!

Mmm it is a bit of a worry that a steerer should be making that kind of noise.. luckily my other bike has RS sids and they def don’t have a problem like that :)

    xcstu

Quite a few people with crown/steerer or crown/stantion press-fit interface creaks from ’10/’11 Fox forks

Yes mine were creaking but have gone to be serviced at mojo… I had it if you grabbed the front tyre between your legs and twisted the handlebars hard.. grease all the controls, stem, handlebars to try n stop this…Slight worrying have a press-fit interface too… Giant anthem I have only just built :(

    Hope mojo resolve mine too..

I went for the Anthem over a Superlight which had been my dream bike for years. In what way do you find it better Stu?

Don’t get me wrong loved every min on the superlight… stiff, lively, fun to ride… Recently added a HT to the collection which was carbon and discovered the beauty of it to ride on….incredible… I had been wishing for years that SC would do a carbon superlight

As for the anthem…. all of the above and more… lighter, stiff, faster and just seems to eat the trails up with so little effort!!
