Xcstu – those racks fit around and under the door sills? They don’t mark the car?

Ya that’s right… Marked as a alfa but made by Thule! The roof rack is fairly new but used quite a few times and taken it on and off with no markings! I had added some rubber between car and claps just to be on the safe side! (A bit OCD haha)

Just out of interest what model you looking at? Mines the ti 2.0 diesel which has the much better gearbox and I’ve had the dpf hollowed out and remapped to 200 bhp…

Beautiful car-would love one-but an estate should have roof rails and that’s the best place for bikes I think

I was a little disappointed didn’t find mine with roof bars but one of alfas roof rails did the trick with a roof box for camping clobber.. Like my bike to much to have it sat on the roof get blown to bits!

In your opinion xcstu, with the front wheel off could you slide your bike in through the aperture – imagine the bike lying on its non-mech side bars pointing up with one end on the floor?

Ya reckon it would go! only concern maybe if you have a long seatpost might need taking out?? Never tried with mine but maybe I should have a go :)

Never had an issue with the bike rack marking the paintwork! Tend to keep it clean before fitting!

Must say the boot isn’t one of the biggest but you don’t buy an alfa 159 for the boot :) As for the rear seats depending on model and year some split fold and some don’t.. Mine is a split fold and pretty much goes flat when down!

Sorry edit.. only time put in the car was for security and went behind the front seats without wheels.. mind not a 29r at the time.. too good an interior to put inside really…. Yep I do.. Use a saris carrier and spot on… generally wheels off and in wheel bags but sometime get lazy and leave on when covered in crap.. pics has my old s works but now have a 29r and fine

How did you attach the pannier rack (tubus fly?) around the brake calliper? Any pics of the non-drive side?

Cheers ir_bandito – Ya the rack is a tubus and had to buy these adaptors to get round the callipers.. Was a bit of a pain at the time but seems to work well now! Have to take some pics as not much info around online!

These are the adaptors: The Jandd disc brake adapter

I don’t know how.I spent 4 years on the struggle bus grovelling in the twenty sommits. Now there’s 100+ every weekend and I’m on the front row 8O. Mick Style is 50+ and is top 3 and Roy Hunt is 60+ and is top 10 overall (in 40+)!!!!

Roy Hunt still going!! respect! he was old when I was a kid haha

Maybe it’s something else with mine then. Perhaps it was just slightly out of gear when I cranked it then. Think I’ll check the adj, of the mech as it occasionally seems to slightly over-shift when downshifting.

Sram Tech gave me this reply when I asked:
The clutch on the derailleur does require some breakaway force. This is normal. In some cases, with some frame designs/gear ratios/setups this breakaway will be more noticeable than others. This does not mean that there is nothing wrong with your particular derailleur.

?? Mine seems to have improved but only time and a few more rides will tell!! To top off snapped a tooth off my cassette which has gone back to Sram

Possibly have actually. It happened a couple of times on my first ride and I put it down to not being properly in gear when cranking. But now I’m thinking it could be this? Is yours creaking all the time? Mine isn’t. It’s happened twice I think, but sounded quite severe. I even stopped to see if something was broken the second time, but everything seemed fine and it didn’t do it again afterward so I was none the wiser.

Its was doing every pedal stroke.. I took it apart and gave it plenty of grease but couldn’t really get into any clutch mechanism that was obvious… Its now on and off creaking so maybe needs some more tweaking!!

For all the sram users out there with the 1×11.. has anyone experienced the weird creaking from the rear mech? Have an 1XO rear mech and is only 100miles old?!

Well you may as well close it for xcstu because his car will have just broken down again

Had 2 years and touch wood still waiting for it to break down!! As for repairs, running cost… granted not the cheapest but tell me Audi, BMW, VW is any cheaper to fix… I doubt?!

Those alfas were on my list but so rare!

Granted mine is a fairly rare breed being in white and a Ti sport wagon… Why follow the sheep i say :)

Oh interested on peoples opinions too.. Just acquired a new bike with 1×11 with xx1 and x01 drivetrain.. Was a little concerned it wouldn’t give me the range I’ve been used to with my old triple 9 speed!?

I believe on a lot of frames you can’t go any larger than a 32t on the front?! Seems that way on my Niner!

Not taken out so only time will tell :)

Nice Binners – So yours are a print on film or a pure colour die cut out?

    xcstu

Binners – Ya have vector files in illustrator I can supply them… Just after a metallic red die cut so nothing too taxing for them haha… Do they come with the easy apply film which you peel off once on the frame?

Curvature – Ya i had emailed them once before and they never got back to me ;-/ will see… I believe they are now based in Sweden!?

Binners – Did you order off the website or get something custom made up?
