Mine is a large and from memory it weighed about 29 pounds. I test rode a large 2014 123 and apparently it weighs 27.5 pounds.

They changed it because when mine came out there were no 120mm 27.5 forks available so they fitted 130mm forks instead.
They have also changed the shock tune and pivot since mine came out, it gets a little bit caught up on itself. It performs best in descend mode on the CTD shock and I have set my fastest times at CyB, Marin Trail and on some Peaks descents on it. However this means it bobs quite a bit when climbing or on pedaly singletrack, so I run it in Trail mode most of the time but it doesn’t descend quite as well.
The newest version is much better, I test rode one recently and it’s much better on singletrack than mine but still goes down hill just as well.
It also a good pound and a half lighter.

I’ve got the original version with 130mm forks, I bought it as a frame and built it up with XT kit.
I think it’s a really good bike, I’ve used it round local XT stuff, Wales and the Peaks. It’s a bit heavy but hardly any difference to my old DW 5 spot.
I’d say it’s not quite as composed as my 5 Spot was, but I prefer it to the Mojo HD I had.

If there is a big group of you, 10 or more then the Rhiw Goch bunkhouse is excellent. Loads of parking and bike storage. You can cycle in to CyB via Sarn Helen it’s about 5 miles if you go to the centre, you can join the MBR sooner.
There is a pub straight opposite.

    Hi Antares,

If you click on accomodation and then pick a cottage. Click on the cottage calendar and the prices are on there. They are by the week, but if you email them they give you prices for weekends.
Last time we stayed was the May bank holiday weekend and it worked out to be £90 each for 4 of us for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
They have secure bike storage and plenty of parking space.
You can ride into the visitor centre pretty much off-road if you don’t fancy riding the main road.

My GF commutes 10 miles a day except when she has a long day or does nights.

She leaves her shoes and wash kit in a locker at work and has a shower when she gets there.
I make her lunch whilst she has breakfast, muesli in the summer and porridge in the winter.
She takes some oatcakes, dried fruit and nuts with her for snacks.
What she wears depends on the weather obviously, but she is wearing baggies and a s/s jersey now. She’ll take a gilet normally or if rain may occur her waterproof jacket.
She has a camelback Hawg and carries her clothes in with her, lock is on the bike.

Shimano road hydro discs are on bikes in shops. I’ve seen a cannondale and a BMC already.
Had a test of them last week.

Outdoor Tech do some really good Bluetooth headphones called Privates or some better ones called Tuis. They also do some in ear buds called Tags.

Genuine ones are only £20 and the newer battery that’s in the 3+ (Also fits 3) lasts longer

The other thing to bear in mind is that a lot of MTB rims aren’t designed to run at high pressures. Magic and DT certainly have upper pressure limits on some of their rims. I’ve seen a couple of MTB rims split when run at high pressures.

Good luck at Moores, hopefully you’ll do well there.

My girlfriend won’t go in there anymore, she had a shifter problem but was told she had weak thumbs!!!

The new 810 and 510 have that feature. They also pair with different heart rate monitors and speed cadence sensors for each bike. A 500 will only pair with one set at a time, so if you have 2 bikes with speed cadence sensors you may have to pair them every time you change bikes.

I’ve been riding one for about 8 months, I really like it. I can’t really remember what a 26er feels like as I’ve been on 29ers for a few years now.
It’s also longer travel than my 29ers, so again it’s not really a like for like comparison.
I will say that it’s fun, but if you find a good bike you like then it’s always fun.
Most new bikes are going to be 650b or 29er so take your pick from either shell size ride some bikes and buy the one you like best.

You take them into a dealer and they send them back and you get sent a replacement.

If you run your pads down to the metal plate on both sides, then you can pop the piston out of the helix. It’s a voluntary recall

Ok this is how superview was explained to me, 4:3 is a square and gets in full height but has the sides missing(black lines on your tv) 16:9 gets full width but is missing the height. If you put the two pictures on top of each other you get a large screen with the corners missing, fill in the corners and this is the superview screen.
The default setting for 720 and 1080 is 16:9 and these are the 2 resolutions using superview as an option. 960 and 1440 are 4:3, the superview option drops the frame rate options

You may also find that shops won’t sell it at the reduced price on Cyclescheme. They may add10-15% back on to cover their costs

When I changed from 26 to 29 the biggest thing I noticed was that I could run lower pressures in the 29er tyres. I dropped between 5-10 psi depending on the tyres. On my Rubber Queens I was running 25 psi on 29er and 30 psi on 26.

Yeap, parked in Llanberis and went up the Llanberis path and came down the rangers and looped back into round via Maesgwm into the far end of Llanberis.

Don’t get me wrong, I did the walk and then slept for about 3 hours. I went to far really, but you know how it is. I just thought I’d do an extra bit as I felt ok. I was knackered when I got home, I had one lot of Tramadol but stuck to paracetamol after that.
I feel so much better than I did before the op, I’m beginning to feel a bit lazy. I want to be doing stuff

I had mine out at 5 pm Tuesday and was home by 12 on Wednesday, it hadn’t perforated but was acutely inflamed.
That sounds like a good guide though, nothing heavy for 4-6 weeks.

    Thanks for the tips

I’m not sure I will be up the pub by Wednesday Ian, although I’ll do my best to be up there soon.

I don’t have to see anyone, the stitches are dissolvable and when I was discharged I was told that I wouldn’t need to see anyone unless there was a problem.

It looks like its all stayed together so far and no infection to speak of yet. I reckon I’ll wait a couple of weeks and maybe try the turbo trainer and see how it goes from there.

@rOcKeTdOg Yeah, I’m a bit lighter although I’m not sure if that’s got more to with the fact I hardly ate over three days rather than the loss of the appendix.

Scotroutes>I’m guessing the consultant might know more about this than some randoms off the internet? Seriously, why did you bother going to him at all? I’m sure I could have had it out with a Stanley knife and some circlip pliers.

As I said, he told me nothing for 2 weeks and then see how it goes. I walked 2 miles yesterday and its a bit sore today I was just hoping someone might have some personal experience on how long it took them.

It wasn’t a laparoscopy it was a straight in through a big hole, I spoke to the consultant and he said that I shouldn’t do anything for 2 weeks and then see how I feel after that. I thought that wasn’t really much of a guide, he said the same about running and swimming.
