I’m a large across the board in Howies, 5’11, 34 inch waist, 40-41 inch chest. I can wear their medium stuff but it’s a bit snug, if you go to say north face I’m a medium all the way, large is massive on me. Most of my running kit is Salomon and it’s all large. It depends on the company but to say it’s crap sizing is pretty harsh, you could look at Castelli and you’d be in double or triple XL.

You should do the firmware update on the other battery for sure.
Also where is the system information display I’m pretty certain you need to use this.
To get the battery to display charge you hold down one of the shift buttons

What would a Fisher Rep know about Conti, they don’t sell them!
Chiefgrooveguru is spot on, the compound used depends on the tyre and what it’s intended use is. Pure grip tyres are made in Conti’s Chinese factory where they make their mid range tyres. The grip will be similar to the black chilli tyres but won’t roll quite as well or last as well, but they are cheaper so it’s up to you.
All the German made tyres are Black Chill, race sport, protection/apex tyres will be BC.

As above its difficult to tell without the complete bike, but I am 5’10 with a 31 inside leg and my bike has a 565mm top tube. So you could probably go up a size.

Without an idea of budget it is difficult to say.
We have a Hilleberg Nallo GT which is awesome. It has stood up to 80 mph winds in the Lakes, torrential rain in Wales and snow in the Peaks. I’ve also used one kayaking in Sweden, it’s super tough and excellent quality. The warranty is great, but it comes at a cost though. We paid £765 and I’d pay it again without hesitation.
I’ve got friends with Terra Nova tents which are pretty tough and also Vaude are good.

5’11 and I ride a large. Its great on single track and is lovely and flickable. I have a different bike for big all day rides on less techy stuff like the South Downs way and round Herts.

We ate in Upper Beeding, you come to it just before the climb up to the YHA. Then you scoot up to the YHA for the night.

I’d second Truleigh Hill YHA, I stayed there this year when I did the SDW.

Ignore the size on the bike, look at geometry and TT length. It’s far more relevant.

The SMBTC1 retails for £49.99 and then you have to buy the SMBTR2 £99.99 as well.

There is loads of stuff, you can ride out towards Bricketwood and around to Bedmond. Head out towards Sandridge and the out towards Sherrards wood and out towards Hertford or Tewin.
Addiktion Cycles do Thursday night rides and also a group of guys head out from the Jolly Sailor pub on Thursday evenings.
Mail me and I’ll send you some routes if you want.

A friend of mine has one and he sold his Cervelo S5 because he thought this rode better. He is racing it and is very happy, he says it’s not quite as good as his Venge but it’s not as well specced so is about a pound heavier.

Just a question, did you supply the headset to the LBS? Are you positive the seal was on the headset if you supplied it, whilst I think maybe they should have pointed out that it was missing, if they don’t normally fit Hope headsets they may not know it’s missing. They might help you sort it out if this is the case, if you go in like US army you might not get much help.

Check out no fuss events, 10 under the Ben, they do a tour of Ben Nevis which is next week so you’ll have a year for that.
You could go big and look at Trans Alp

Ok here’s a trick I learnt from a shop. It may or may not solve your problem, take a strap in each hand above the clasp and pull the straps apart it sort of un twists the strap and pulls them flat. It’s a bit difficult to describe, but I had a similar problem and the shop said a lot of them come through like that due to the way they are packaged. They were told this little gem by a guy from Giro at a show.

I know they are different events but I’ve paid £30 for the CyB Enduro, but I’d have paid more as they are really well organised. I’ve just paid £35 for the privilege of doing a Marathon round CyB next year, if you did those events over a weekend and added the 2 days together you’d have about the same figure as has been quoted sounds ok to me.
I’ve raced since the beginning of the 90’s and used to pay £20-£25 for a 2 hour xc race, so 3 days worth of riding for £65 seems pretty good value to me.

You can defo convert a 240s, I’ve done it before. In fact I’ve just converted my other 240s to 12mm from QR.

I put mine in a 40 degree wash with non bio and no fabric softener. The machine does it’s 900rpm spin and then hung up outside or cool tumble dry. Got a 5 year old pair of Gore shorts still going strong and a couple of 3 year old pairs. They only get worn once before going into the wash.

I’ve got the original Kili flyer FS, which is all aluminium. It weighs 29.5 lbs with reverb. The new one will be lighter for sure.
It climbs well enough for me, it’s never held me back and has climbed everything I can. It’s done rocky lakes climbs and long fire road climbs, whilst I’ll admit it’s not my 100mm Trek Superfly in the climbing stakes it goes down a damn sight quicker.
I love mine and I’m seriously considering buying the new full carbon one if I can find the cash.
    I’m 5’11 and I’ve got a 19 with a 60mm stem.
MBR just reviewed one and it won the test, different people like different things I guess. Test ride one

I rode the SDW at the weekend, it took me about 4 hours to get to Eastbourne with a stop to eat some lunch at Southease.
I was beginning to feel it at the end, but I reckon if you were just riding the last 35 miles you’d be done in 3-3.5 hours.
It got a bit sloppy on the chalk on Saturday with some showers but it dried really quickly, it’s not to technical as has been said.
I hit 39 mph coming off one of the descents, but a lot of them are easily 25-30 mph.

Shimano do disc hose in rolls for shops to use, I guess you just need to find one with it in stock

I know it’s not the same area but I was in Epping this morning. Signs up everywhere saying roads closed to traffic from 7:30-17:30. All the forest car parks are already closed and Epping high street already has parking restrictions in place, no parking signs on all the streets I could see.
Having watched the race in France before, people are cycling on the roads until it long before the caravan arrives, once everything goes past it turns in to total chaos though.
With the number of people expected I’d say your biggest problem will be parking anywhere near the place and then getting away again.

As above, cables. Sp41 outer and the polymer Shimano infers and it’s super smooth. Most OEM’s won’t pay for the good cables and put crappy ones on.
My Giant came with Jagwire and I changed them for Dura Ace cables and it’s a huge difference.

They don’t do an M785 20mm front hub, also your wheel is 24 hole and Shimano don’t do 24 hole front MTB hubs separately and your hub is straight pull. The after market hubs are for standard spokes. The only Shimano front hubs with a 20mm axle now are Saint and Zee 32 or 36 hole.

You can upload and follow routes on all Garmin Edge units. The go from grey scale line with audible alerts and arrows, to the same in colour and then to mapping.

Are you sure, I thought they were limited to 120 mm. Also why would you want to do it. It’s an XC frame. I ran mine with a 100 mm after demoing a bike with 120mm and thinking it seemed a bit barge like.

+1 on the Osprey Talon bag. I’ve got a Talon 11,22 and 33.
I’ve got 10 year old Meindl Burma Pro’s and they are still going strong.
I use Icebreaker socks and most of my tops are either Icebreaker or Howies Merino.
Get a really good jacket, it’s proper miserable if you get cold and wet. I have a mountain equipment Kalanka it took me a long time to buy a decent jacket, but I haven’t regretted it and I’ve been out in terrible conditions.
    Just remember layers.
