Some low fee “whole of the market” funds to look for, for those without a crystal ball looking to drive down the fees:

Invesco FTSE All-World UCITS ETF .15%
    HSBC FTSE All-World Index C Acc .13%

I use the Vanguard platform as it was lowest platform fee when I opened my SIPP.
VWRP is .22% but you can get the fee down further by: putting 10% inn VFEG .22% and 90% in VHVG .12% – this is what I do for lower fees than LS100 and effectively the same thing.

I have my current workplace pension which I (over) pay directly from employer into via salary sacrifice – because of this I save not only tax at 20% and the bit of 40% I would pay too without having to do a tax return, but also 10% National Insurance which you wouldn’t get back outside of workplace salary sacrifice.

My Old workplace pensions (except a nice DB scheme I left) are brought together in my SIPP.

Because the fees are high in my workplace pension, every year I do a partial transfer to my SIPP to get it in low fee funds above.

I really hate fees. £15k fees proposed to the OP is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. A little knowledge goes a long way.

    Whats the point in it?

Why don’t employers tell their employees go buy a bike and bring us the reciept.

Then refund the employee as an expense and deduct pay every month?

Could be done before the credit card bill comes.

    Switch to HG freehub

    £35 12 speed sram eagle cassette: https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sram-cs-pg1210-eagle-11-50t/

    OR

Switch to 11 speed and enjoy cheaper and longer lasting chains and less finickity setup and maintenance. I run sunrace or deore hg cassettes (you can get chinese xd fitment ones too). You can keep your rear mech and I’d recommend a used XTR shifter for the double downshift.

Awesome, I’ve been waiting a long long time for these to finally see production!

If you have to return a CRC-Wigg delivery because the bike is damaged, aren’t you now basically a creditor to a company going through the insolvency process, so a tiny creditor at the back of the queue, wondering if you’ll ever see a refund?

I’ve had refunds for things sent back in the last couple of weeks

My sentier 29 came with nobby nic DD rear, shimano deore crank and clarks 4 pots. Unbelievable bike for £420

The cheap ones are all euro 4 (which they made till 2016 I think) and if they’re auto (most are) the gearboxes are chocolate. Might not be an issue for some, but they’re sadly pretty compromised

The gearboxes are supposed to be serviced every 30k. Unlike every other mfr who says gearboxes are life sealed. First owner may have been told but the second?

None were serviced, hence the reputation. I bought mine with a rebuilt box and change the oil and filter every 20k. Its a fabulous gearbox, if you get one in good nick.

Manuals have no issues, they are out there. The 2.2 is a conventional auto too.

Euro 4? For going into Landon? Thats what trains are for.

With something like the Vonhouse, you can over-clad it in ply. Just use some dome headed self tapping screws*, to hold the sides and back on and that will dramatically increase the strength and rigidity.

    * Buy the type that pre-drills the hole and it will easily go through the ply and metal holding both together

This is a good idea, but use OSB it is cheaper.

2013 galaxy with centre middle and rear seats removed. Can leave one rear seat in.

They handle well, go well and are cheap as chips too, none of this overpriced van derived junk.

Rapha rain jacket less than half price:

    Men’s Gore-Tex Hooded Rain Jacket | Rapha

I got one years ago (in the sale of course) and it’s brilliant. Pretty breathable, very waterproof and a great cut for MTB.

    Whats the durability like?

All my 2.5 layer jackets fail fairly quickly as they live scrunched up in my pack. Never had a gore tex one though

Just find someone local getting a new kitchen.

Take their drawer units and cupboards. Paint them grey if you like.

Worktop makes an ideal workbench top. You might want to make a frame out of 2×4 and screw to a solid wall to put it on as kitchen cabinets aren’t ideal base for a workbench,

Network Rail own the land beneath disused tracks. They are one of the biggest landowners in the country, just its all in thin strips.

They come out and inspect any old bridges / subways every now and then.

Farmers/ owners of the adjacent land will just do whatever makes their life easier re fences and gates, but its unlikely they own the bit beneath the old track

I gave up on 2.5 layer jackets, they don’t last long, especially scrunched up in a pack and dirty most of the time.

    3 layer last much better.

    Another shout for a Galaxy

Take a couple of seats out and I can wheel.my large deviate in upright with wheels on

They handle really well, more like a great handling estate car than a big bus.

Smax I imagine handles nicer still

Only thing is the load height is higher than a van due to the car rear suspension

Cheap to buy, run, insure and fix.

    5. Diagnostic support.

You just need an adapter to swap the k line in a VCDS cable and you can do everything like code modules etc. it’s just a big VW afterall.

You can get hooky VCDS setup cheap.

Who is the manufacturer of the appliance?

Most will have a number of flue options.

I.e. one that can go up the wall and put the roof of your shed.

Then there’s the plume management type flues where the exhaust part is taken upwards.

First port of call is the manufacturer.

I did similar when I relocated my boiler from in a bathroom cupboard to in the loft, i.e. bought new flue to go through wall rather than vertically, they made all kinds of shapes and options for the flue

Then you should really get a gas safe to fit the new flue, however I suspect a gas safe would just condemn your fire and refuse to work on it aside from servicing, don’t think they are supposed to commission stuff that won’t meet current regs.

As Neil says above, if a company is making profit then they are paying tax and doing something wrong

Usually the parent company will ramp up the rent in some way and spirit that money away

They don’t work like micro businesses or domestic finances.

The aim is not to pay any tax and you do that by not making a profit, moving any would-be profit offshore.

These 955 are proper off road beasts.

Porsche entered range rovers market of big lux 4×4, and defined the market for fast suvs that handle well on road

As such they did not know if the market would reject them for not having true off-road credentials, so they equipped them with lockers, low range box and real capabilities

As it turns out the market didn’t care about that so all that off road stuff was dropped for the 2nd gen

Fantastic vehicles if you need a mixed usage tow car.

Sadly the 2nd gen is more of a one trick pony unless it was optioned up. They do have a really low 1st gear in lieu of a low range box.

My Porsches have cost me less than a few Porsche track days. Including tracking them…

Tbh the best Porsches are the base models and do not make great track cars. They are fantastic road cars.

I never ever get bored of driving them. I have a boxster and a galaxy now, I never reach for the galaxy key unless I have more than 1 passenger.

I’ve had mx5s and they are great, but not the bargain they once were when a boxster is better and similar money.

Buy an early boxster right now as as the values are on the floor due to winter, Xmas etc, if you don’t like it you will turn a profit in spring/summer

No, they wouldn’t. They’re so dull compared to something like a boxter/cayman etc. They are unfeasibly fast down a country lane though, but so boring. I’ve no idea how a car can be that fast but also that boring.

    2nded

I’ve had some fast big cars, they are dull apart from a straightline, pointless waste of hydrocarbons.

911/boxster/cayman are a very rewarding drive. Another level to an mx-5 (mx-5 are not the bargain they once were either).

Just to add mine have not been expensive to maintain. Its the rip off labour rates and the desire to keep them “perfect” that costs. Any mechanic can work on them, just nuts and bolts and parts from autodoc are not much more than any other car.

This was my daily driver for many years, rain, shine, gritted roads the lot

They are a pleasure to drive year round, so much grip (engine over driven axle).

Mine was an early ’99 3.4, no bore issues on these, no IMS bearing issues. Cable throttle, hydraulic steering, no PASM just perfect.

I would get 30+ mpg on a divine B road commute and general car use.

4 seater, so it hung around until car seats became awkward. I cried when I sold it.

I bought it for £7000 (needing suspension and clutch) and sold it for £9500 years later.

I now have this which cost me £2500 a couple of months back:

Its 90% as good, its an early ’98 2.5 again cable throttle, hydraulic steering and no PASM.

However maintenance on a boxster will be the same as a 911, the parts are the same, the engine is the same. Just get a 911 if you have the spare readies.

Do what you can to experience one, learn to drive it properly. They are Peak ICE, nobody is making anything like this anymore.

I’ve snapped steel rigid forks back in the 90s

Google almost any brand of frame or form snapped and you will find one

These will have been tested, I guess there will be a regime of batch testing required by planet X insurers.

A colleague in my last job loved on a farm with extensive solar and wind power and had an old leaf.

It was abused and caked in mud and cow faeces.

It would only just do the 24 mile round trip to work in summer.

In winter if he use the heater he would not make it! He would dress up in bobble hat and big coat.

He loved it, perfect for his usage, he reckoned he effectively got paid to drive it.

A corner shop near us used to sell bags of crisps individually marked “only to be sold as part of a multipack”
    The reason is thus:

    • You can go to the cash and carry and buy a box of crisps containing 100 individual packs and it costs £10
    • The same cash and carry sells a box of 20 multipacks each containing 5 bags, this costs £8
    • Now both boxes contain 100 bags of the same crisps, however the manufacturer makes more money on the individual packs.
    • They still make a profit on the multipacks, but they don’t want the shop splitting them, they want the shops to buy the box of individuals.

Ive done this many times on large and small dents

Just used a normal glue gun and normal glue

I like to glue the base of a small wooden hammer to the middle of the dent and hold it there while the glue cools

    Then yank it hard

The hammer will come away and in doing so pull the dent out

Every time you power wash stone or concrete you make the surface rougher meaning the slime will come back faster each time.

    Chemicals FTW
