Have a look at feetfirst in chesterfield http://www.resoles.co.uk

They’re known for doing boots and climbing shoes but do normal stuff as well. Assuming they’re as good with normal shoes as walking boots I’d recommend them.

Headspace is good. There’s quite a few corporates who offer it free/cheap to their employees so check if your employer / union does this.

Have a look for a local “stress control” course. It’s free and run by the nhs and lasts about 6 weeks. Gives a good intro to the basics of CBT and meditation.

Also see if your employer / union has an EAP that offers free / cheap counselling.

Get yourself over to pepipoo for some advice.

If you were at the location they say you were you could always try a bemused phone call to the camera office asking if the ticket is correct as you were in a motorhome towing a trailer at the time. They may drop it through embarassment or may issue you a corrected ticket (38mph). If you wait 14 days before you ask the Q they may be unable to issue a corrected ticket.

Yes they stay open until you drive through so drive up, walk to machine, take ticket or pay then le mans start.

My partner runs her son’s android phone from an iPhone through Google family link so must be possible.

Who’s the freeholder? Should be covered under one of the leaseholder insurance policies or the combined buildings insurance for the whole building (freeholder).

Make sure you’re doing proper sweep strokes. Just doing extra paddle strokes on one side in that won’t correct it once it’s started veering off to one side.

Without seeing you it’s difficult to give hints but make sure you’re foot pegs are adjusted so you can push your feet against them, aim at something in the distance (don’t look at the front of the kayak- it’s the same as looking at the front wheel of your bike), paddle into the water about where your ankles are and out as your hips go past the paddle, paddle should be vertical so your top hand needs to be in line with the opposite shoulder(ish) and rotate your torso as you go through the stroke pushing the paddle away from you with your top hand. Make sure you’re not bending your lower elbow too much (you can try paddling with both elbows locked completely straight as an exercise)

Pretty sure there’s a club at cuckmere – try going out with them and get some pointers from their coaches.

We use the family link app for an 8 year old. Works from an iPhone or Android. Just make sure you set up the kids account through the family link app on the parents phone before setting up the kids phone.

Not as powerful as the Norton etc paid for parent apps but does what we need it to.

Bought myself some new shoes, fitted the spd cleats and went for a ride. Tried to unclip at a junction. Shoes won’t unclip so fall over to side. Force of falling causes one shoe to unclip. Resolve not to clip that shoe in for rest of ride – of course shoe clips in. Get to cafe stop. Lean on lamp post. Struggle to get one shoe unclipped. No way is the other one unclipping. Leave shoe on bike and Walk into cafe in my socks – get strange looks.investigate when back home – shoe that won’t unclip will spin through 360° on the pedal without unclipping. Eventually get shoe unclipped and tighten cleats fully before riding again. Always check I can unclip before riding now – especially after changing shoes, cleats or pedals.

Undo the grub screw (probably small Allen key). You’ll then me able to dismantle the tap further to see what’s happening.

Buy some oust and get rid of the limescale in your current kettle and keep using it until it breaks. Keep your current kettle out of landfill.

Pretty sure there is a “keep Britain tidy” litter pick week which I’ve done canoe club river clean ups as part of. Pretty sure this has got us a free skip from the council. If you can link your litter picks in to this maybe you can get a free council skip that way.

Innocent railway path out to Musselburgh then back streets of Musselburgh towards the racecourse and as far down the coast as you want or there’s the new cyclepath from Shawfair to Roslyn Glen.
Is there anything in Vogrie Park or Dalkeith Country Park?

As far as I’m aware Autoaid don’t offer euro cover. Try vehicle rescue direct

Autoaid used to be pay and reclaim but not any more.

Autoaid – just over £40 covers you and your wife (you must be married) for recovery anywhere in the UK. Had a bad run recently and used them quite a few times. They use local operators so sometimes you get quite a large company and sometimes small companies who might be on call rather than actually working. All bar one occasion they’ve got to me in less than an hour at the time they said they would and recovered me straight away various distances between 1 mile and 200miles. Only time they were late (took 1h15m instead of 1h) was due to his previous job over running slightly.

You’re possibly more likely to be recovered straight away rather than attempt a fix at the road side but the problem I had with the RAC years ago was that even if you told them you needed a recovery truck they still sent a man in a van who’d then say “you need a recovery truck” and you’re only put into the recovery truck queue at that point rather than an hour earlier when you phoned them.

Horses for courses but it’s s lot cheaper than the RAC.

Does it need to be a boot?
Without knowing what he’s doing I’d be tempted by trail / approach shoes – maybe look at some of the sandalesque trail shoes – really breathable, get wet feet but dry quicker than proper boots / shoes.

Feeling hungry isn’t a sign that you need to eat something now it’s a sign that you need to go for a long walk (hunting and gathering) and eat something after.

Take the time off. I tried to go back early off a sicknote once because I was bored stiff at home and my employer wouldn’t let me come back. There reasoning was if a doctor had said I shouldn’t be at work then their insurance wouldn’t cover me if anything happened whilst I was at work.

How true that is I don’t know but I’m sure your employer would rather you took X time off now and came back better rather than X minus a bit now and y time off in the future because you’ve gubbed your back again.

    Highly recommend feet first

My family have been disappointed twice by Lancashire sports repairs so wouldn’t recommend them. Both times the new sole came away from the boot within a few months and they refused to warranty the repair as they don’t guarantee the glue they use will stick to leather that’s been waterproofed.

Have a look at the Tefal travel mugs. Keeps drinks hot for ages and seems pretty slim so should fit your cup holder.

You’ll probably need to leave it a couple of days before the PPI dept see whatever you sent them as it’ll likely go through a mailroom first and then need to be scanned / assigned to the correct customer policy / case first.

Not needed them around Edinburgh for a few years as we’ve had so few frost’s recently but if forecasts are right they’ll be going back on this year.

I use marathon winters on my cross bike commuter. You don’t notice the difference unless you’ve ridden the same ice patch the day before on normal tyres and ended up on your arse before changing to spikes.

You will at some point do a perfectly controlled stop at traffic lights and only realise you’re on black ice when you put your feet down and then fall over as you’re not wearing crampons.

Fortrose is popular for commuting to Inverness. Has good schools but can be pricey and you can go and see dolphins everyday.

Gomembership is through the kayaking governing body as that’s what they use for their membership system. Seems quite clunky the bits I’ve used so trying to find something that’s a bit more intuitive. Maybe that’s not webcollect.

If I’m not getting this does that mean that STW doesn’t value my privacy? Why does it value everyone else’s? I feel left out.

    Childhood breakfast in Preston was

    Orange juice
Grilled Rasher(s) of unsmoked middle bacon
    Grilled sausage(s)
    Grilled Bury black pudding slice
    Grilled half tomatoes
    Fried bread slice(s)
    Fried mushrooms
    Heinz Baked Beans
    Fried egg(s)
    Toast slice(s)
    Fried Bubble & Squeak
    Pickled Silverskin onions
    Daddies / HP brown sauce
    Pint(s) of tea

Since moving to Edinburgh this evolved with the addition of

    Haggis
Stornoway / Scottish black pudding – can’t get Bury black pudding up here
Tattie scone(s) instead of Bubble & Squeak
Lorne sausage – occasionally – I’m not its biggest fan.

Assuming you’re not primarily skiing in Scotland you lot have a weird definition of “ski hot”.

But you then describe almost exactly the same layering system as those who said they ski hot so looks like we ski just as hot as you do?

    wwpaddler
    Free Member

I run hot as well and use a goretex shell with a base layer underneath.  If it’s a bit cold (-10°C) I add a thin fleece (100 weight).  If it’s really cold (-20°C)  I add a 200 weight fleece as well.

Most of the time I’m just in a base layer with my goretex shell unzipped and flapping around.  Zip it up and maybe put a hat on for the lifts.

You can get awesome customer service without spending Oakley money.

Have a pair of Bloc sunglasses.

Nosepiece broke – sent them an email – new nosepiece arrives FOC in the post.

Right arm broke – quick email – 2 new arms arrive FOC in the post.

Tempted to send them an email and see if they’ll send me a frame and lenses then I’ll have got a pair of glasses for free.

Pens and pencils in weird / glittery colours.  How does 1 child accumulate so many and where do all my plain blue / black pens disappear too.

Stem ginger in syrup – 4 jars – small pieces are  used as decoration on ginger cake.

Horseradish sauce – 6 jars – only use it as an accompaniment to roast beef.

Suncream and insect repellant – buy it for every holiday as I can never find the stuff I know I have before the holiday.  Come to put the new stuff away after the holiday and find dozens of jars of the old stuff.

Pot luck really.  From the moment the battery light came on to the car conking out I’ve managed to get from kingussie to strathpeffer so a decent distance.  Less impressively I got from Pitlochry to 3 miles outside Pitlochry.
