Is your sister in law narcissistic at all? If so have a google for narcissistic abuse and gaslighting. If that sounds familiar then he definitely needs to be away and stay away from his wife. Can’t recommend anything other than GP and local NHS psych services. If the waiting list is too long try a private psychotherapist.

Have you got any of the credit/debit cards which don’t charge for foreign currency transactions. Visa/MasterCard are about as close to the market rate as possible.

If all your miles are local just self insure and have a number for a local recovery / breakdown operator with you. A local recovery would only be ~£60 plus taxi fares if your journey is really important.

As long as you don’t break down more than once every 18months – 2 years you should be quids in.

I didn’t pay anything up front with my 2 recoveries with Autoaid either. 1st was 6 miles and apparently that’s local so autoaid deal direct with the recovery company for that. Last weekends was 200 miles – I tried to pay but was told I had recovery so didn’t need to pay. Don’t know whether something has changed (the website still says pay and claim) or the recovery firm has made a mistake and I’ll get an invoice in the post or whether the recovery firm has worked out a way to deal direct with Autoaid?

Seems strange that it’s happened to 2 of us though.

How do you get it for £40, it’s £80 on the website.

    Autoaid .

£40 per year for recovery to anywhere in uk. They use local firms rather than their own mechanics/vans. Used them twice in the last year and they’ve got me home quickly and efficiently each time.

Have a look at the Alko mowers. Ours has given us 5 years so far of trouble free mowing for £130. Not sure how much they cost now.

Think of it as a way of getting free money. If you earn an average salary of £25K then 1% is £250 per year but it only costs you £200 as the government pays the £50 and your employer is putting in £500. So for a cost of £200 to you you’ve got £750 in your pension. Try putting in a higher percentage if you can. A rough guideline that you hear is half your age when you started paying into a pension as a percentage of your salary.

I’m sure you know as well as I do that whilst that may be the official university payscale there’s a heck of a lot of experienced postdocs, PhD’s, graduates and experienced graduates being paid at band 4 level (17K-20K) because there is a massive over supply of scientists at these levels and the only jobs they can get are being advertised at HNC/HND level but the universities know they will be employing graduates and better when they create the job advert. (Certainly true in life sciences)

Try the Ratho station travelodge then tram/bus from Ingliston P&R or see if there’s any deals at the airport then tram/bus from the airport or Ingliston.

Might be rooms in south Queensferry then train in from dalmeny (or bus).

Only closed bit is Pennels Vennel. I’d suggest riding up to the top car park then follow the red climb to blue velvet. Come down that and berm baby berm back to the top car park then follow the blue climb until it meets back up with the red climb.

You’d get them to sign something before you showed them your idea. If they nick it you can take them to court – whoever has the deepest pockets wins.

We have a 03 passat with the same engine which did a similar thing but quite intermittently. Garage gave us a fault code which according to the net is fairly common and is a faulty switch on the turbo. Garage also mentioned it might be the turbo vanes sticking.

We bunged some injector cleaner in with a tank of fuel – never done it since.

I don’t know enough about cars to explain this but it worked for us and is a lot cheaper than turbo repairs.
    Could all be coincidence though.

When did he get his EHIC card? You need to apply for a new one every 3 years. Things could be tricky if he hasn’t got an EHIC.

They’d see the light moving away from you at the speed of light. Why do you think the light from your headlights would be moving away at 1.5 times the speed of light? (what is your reasoning behind this thought?)

I stayed at Coniston Hall for my stag do 5 years ago. We hadn’t booked anything (thanks to my organised best man!!) so just turned up. We did have to leave a £20 per person damage/noise bond at reception which was refunded when we left.

Easy walk into the village for pubs and food. Can sit down by the lake for drinking.

Think we were the quietest group on the campsite as we didn’t want to lose our deposit!!

Slightly smaller group than you though (about 10) – can’t remember if they had a group size limit but you could split up.

Annecdotally my knowledge of the job market is slightly different to asdfjkl’s knowledge. Apparently a lot of teachers have left the profession due to the new curriculum. Jobs are available and application numbers are low although they may only give you a 1 year contract to start with it’s often the case that some permanent jobs will appear at xmas or easter when application numbers are even lower so relatively easy to jump from a short term contract to permanent if you’re successful.

Annecdotally I know of DT jobs in the central belt that were readvertised due to the low number and poor quality of applicants and are still unfilled 12 months later. My current school (central belt) advertised for a science teacher and only received 2 applications.

But certainly its allegedly easier to get jobs in Fife – apparently they tend to hold onto their probationers which tends not to occur in the central belt.

Don’t get one with the agile gearbox. Awful thing to drive. Seats harder and not as comfy as sprinters. Despite having lots of cubbyholes they’re not actually that useful so just dump stuff on top of the dash.

At edinburgh Monday is lectures for everyone. Depending on the week 1-4 hours but spread through the day.
Thursday is “professional studies” Depending on the week will be either 2 hours in the afternoon or 4 hours spread over the whole day.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday you’ll be in DT. Don’t know how thats organised as all the subjects do different things but as a scientist I’m in for 3 hours on Tues am. 5-6 hours on wednesday and 2-3 hours on Friday morning. Allegedly Edinburgh has more contact time than other universities.

Course starts mid august. Have about 6 weeks at uni before 1 week in school. Back to uni for 3 weeks then 6 weeks in school. Back to uni for a few weeks before christmas. After Christmas you’ll have a few weeks at uni before 6 weeks in school then 3 weeks back at uni then 3 weeks off for easter. After easter you’ll have a 5 weeks school placement then back to uni for a week then you’re finished.

I’m doing the pgde secondary in edinburgh at the moment. Can’t tell you much about D&T as I’m Science but if you want to know more about the rest of that course let me know. You’ll be in D&T sessions about 2 thirds of the time – for the other third you’ll be in with all the other subjects.

Only thing I would say is be organised and then organise yourself a bit more. D&T can be a bit funny about which undergrad degrees they accept so worth getting in touch with the course tutors of where you’re thinking of going to check they accept your degree.

Think you’ve got all the nearest trail centres there. For cafes visit the Alpine Cafe for cake (in the station). For breakfast visit the Belly Buster cafe (don’t know it’s real name but thats what they call the breakfast). It’s opposite the chippy at the top of town.

There’s a few pubs but most people end up in the Stables bar at the royal oak.

I switched from Michelin Energy(Saver)(summer tyre) to Bridgestone A001’s in the mental winter of 2010/2011 as couldn’t get hold of any full winter tyres and was fed up of not being able to get anywhere. Have used them all year round ever since.

They’re brilliant in snow and the wet. The only time they’ve ever slipped for me was in a car park covered in very wet ankle deep slush. Got out without needing a push which was not the case for the other cars with summer tyres on. If the A001’s hadn’t been nearly at the point of changing I suspect I wouldn’t have slipped.

Normally get 25000+ miles from the fronts and 50000+ from the rears

Can’t say I’ve noticed any lack of grip from them in the summer.

Allegedly they have 90-95% performance of summer tyres in summer and 90-95% performance of winter tyre performance in winter. Personally if you’re in the situation where you need that last 5-10% performance from your tyre on a public road whilst driving an estate loaded up with bikes/kayaks then you’re doing something very wrong.

I haven’t tried any other full winter or all season tyres but having used A001’s I’ve never felt the need to change.

Your 40m rope won’t be long enough to get to the top of anything on the lead wall. You need 50m and there’s some walls which need a 60m rope. There’s plenty of top ropes on the smaller walls
