They were very definite about saying it was Cavs fault. How much more critical do you want them to be?

Can you make porridge in the microwave when you get to work? Do that and throw some of your chopped fruit in it. Can you use your putrinugget before you leave work and drink it on the bike on the way home. Go to Greggs for lunch for some pastry goodness.

She’s got to make it accessible to everyone watching; not just the people who are as literate and knowledgeable about cycling as you are. She does that very well.

You eat a lot of fruit (you’re not a wasp or Gillian Mckeith) – you don’t appear to be eating much of anything else.

I have done commutes in the past ranging from 4-11 miles each way and was doing this 5 days a week. As the mileage increased I just ate more of normal food – what I was eating didn’t change – just the quantity. Example below. I’m not saying its perfect but you should see quite a difference between my diet and yours.

Breakfast OJ, tea, 2-4 weetabix or shreddies or porridge, maybe some fruit

At work – upto 6 sandwiches (usually wholemeal or granary with butter – ham, salami, chicken, bacon, sausage, cheese, tuna, egg, salad leaves, jam) pack of crisps, maybe some celery/tomatoes, yoghurt, upto 3 fruit (usually apple, pear, satsuma, banana) and a choc biscuit.

    Get home – dinner
usually meat and 2 veg based or pasta bolognaisse, curry and rice etc occasionally including dessert.

Can you use your nutribullet thing to make soup – add some seasoning and put in the microwave?

You need a bowl of porridge in the morning before you leave home. Your diet looks to be very high in simple carbohydrates and very low in complex carbohydrates, protein and fat. You need to swap that around.

That’s because as adult you want to believe that you’ve bought the best bike for you and you haven’t been swayed by marketing and you value individuality. As a teen you don’t yet have confidence in your individuality so your self worth and personality is based on who and what you associate yourself with.

The marketing message you respond to as an adult will be more subtle and not as blatant as “Peaty rides that so I’ll get one”

My number sticky label from the etape is still on my bike. Everytime I go for a ride I see it and think “must take that off when I get back”, go for a ride, come home and chuck bike back in shed and go into the house. One day I’ll remember to take it off.

Is there any speed / time element in Rampage scoring or is it entirely artistic (line choice and moves/tricks) based. You need to consider how racing changes the likelihood and consequences of mistakes

Are there BASE jumping competitions where people die? Never heard of a competition climbing up the outside of buildings either?

People injure and kill themselves doing those sports not convinced they do in competition.

What are these sports where serious injury and death are a consequence of getting it wrong?

Pretty sure there’ll be a grass verge before the stone wall in Yorkshire? Please show us a picture of a stone wall on a blind bend on a 1:5 hill with no grass verge.

There is a website which will search eBay /gum tree etc automatically for your keywords which is easier to use than the search functions on eBay / gum tree. Can’t remember what it’s called so have a google.

If your local mtb meetup group has a Facebook group then post on that.

I always assumed Thule had designed their roof bike rack fittings to be just wider than the clamps holding the bars to the roof eliberately so that you can put things outside the clamps.

There’s no point in complaining about the lack of spare wheel. Lots of cars don’t have them anymore. A can of squirty foam won’t fix a ripped tyre.

Has anyone else made the mistake of doing the blue enduro route in Les Arcs (Route 66)?

10km of really nice fun singletrack followed by 20km of fireroad and tarmac down to BSM. Big step up to the red Enduro route which is rough, steep and fun.

I’m all for the end of tipping as a default expectation with the living wage coming in etc.

The living wage is not coming in. They are rebranding the minimum wage as the living wage. This is still going to be significqntly lower than the actual “living wage”

You can transfer your NCD to another insurer. You’re (usually) only allowed to apply it to one policy at once though.

You have to declare any claims to your new insurer. How many years NCD do you have?

I thought the FA level 1 coach was a 32 hour qualification. If its actually being delivered in 16 hours then that may be a reason why coaching quality is a bit low.

Compared to other sports a level 1 FA coach seems to be given a lot more responsibility than a level 1 in other sports where they’re working under the supervision of a level 2.

I reckoned the 130km on road flattish Caledonian Etape was significantly easier than the 50km off road very hilly Selkirk MTB marathon.

I’ve just had competitive quotes from LV and Harrison Beaumont for kayaking and mountain biking in the Alps. Pretty sure they cover road cycling too. Approx £30 for 2 weeks.

I’ve just been doing this today as I’m doing the drive from Edinburgh to the Alps in a 13 year old renault. You need to read the individual websites. It was close for me between eurorescue (autoaid) and vehicle-rescue. The information suggests that if they can’t fix it at the local garage within 8 hours they’ll either organise overnight accommodation or transport you to your fdestinations get a hire car(they pay £70 per day). Guess its up to you to negotiate the best solution for you -the pay more for a bigger hire car. You won’t actually be dealing with the company which insured you as they sub contract the assistance to axa or similar. Treat them as a translation service who have lots of contacts who will pay some or all of the costs. You’re insuring a pretty unlikely event which is even less likely to be major.

If the “disorder” is only found on blogs and YouTube then it’s probably “normal”. If they’re described in the medical /psychological diagnostic manuals then time to consider them as “abnormal” and they’re much more likely to have a serious detrimental effect on their lives and the lives of those around them.

As I said above everyone has narcissistic traits as we need them to survive. However those people with NPD have no ability to control the use and application of those traits.

    A lancashire delicacy.

It’s the pale green / yellow water off the top of the mushy peas. Invented when Lancashire was poor and couldn’t afford to buy peas but still needed vitamins!!

Black pepper. You can top it with a bit of pea wet if you like.

Narcissism is one of those terms where the general population uses a definition which is significantly different to the scientific / medical community. This does cause problems when the two worlds overlap as in this thread.

Or maybe having a name for the symptoms you have allows you to access the treatment / help / support required for you to make a quicker recovery than relying on MTFU. I spent years using MTFU to survive in the relationship – only once I was getting outside help did I actually start to recover.

Everybody has some narcisstic traits – we need them in day to day life. Problems happen when you exhibit lots of them very strongly. Coupled with a total inability to appreciate the affect our actions/behaviours have on other people ensures the narcissistic behaviours are out of control and incredibly damaging to those around them.
