Agree it’s easy to Hoover out but was surprised; message above suggests it’s to be expected. For some consumers taking screws off is a big ask but the manufacturers should make a recommendation to have it inspected on a periodic basis

We Clean the filter without fail every time we use it knowing the fire risk. It’s not on the at risk list but manufacturers aren’t proactive in that regard.

Was just surprised that it’s escaped from the drum into the body of the appliance and caused the heater element to burn out tripping the rcd. Could have easily caused a fire.

Thanks – it was built in the 90s and made out of plasterboard.

    The responses have been helpful.

Good point although the rsj will not be hidden right up in the ceiling so the two ceilings will be separated by the boxed in rsj

Thanks – the job is to fit a new kitchen and knock one supporting wall through. As part of the works they will re wire and fit led down lights which don’t exist today; they will also need to move the electric consumer unit a few metres.

All have been given the same brief; I just found it odd that one contractor was insisting the electricians need the ceiling removing – just seems like a lot of unnecessary effort and mess.

We had this; ultimately it was cured by replacing the roof membrane (waited until we needed a lot of work doing on the roof)

Is the doctor certain it’s long covid? A family member had Polymyalgia; I think think though it typically affects 50 years old and above.

Symptoms may not fit as joints and muscles ached and were weak; it was quite debilitating as lacked energy to walk up stairs or do any form of excess. It affect appetite which doesn’t seem to fit with your symptoms

With the fatigue have you had significant joint / muscle discomfort or stiffness and any loss of weight?

Peanut butter should lure it in. Expect the rat to go nuts in the cage before you shoot it; tried biting the end of air rifle which made the job a bit easier…

I’ve not used Hope brakes (mainly purchase costs deters me). I really like my 2015 SRAM Guide RSCs; I’ve had a problem with sticking lever pistons; the brakes are fully serviceable and were sorted by a new lever internals kit.

Thanks – the replies have confirmed what ones leaning towards.

I want a 51t cassette to preserve most of the range I have today and will pair it with a 32 or 34t chainring.

Just need to find somewhere with a 5100 rear mech in stock.

Granted I don’t know a lot about construction but it only needs one 15 foot wall building with french doors (not bifold), a roof putting on it and an existing window ( and the wall below it) knocking out

I’m assuming that as the window is already there it must have a lintel above it so by removing the window no additional steel work needed?

As the side walls are the existing external brick work do they do they have to stud on dry wall on top or do they plaster on top of the brick work?

Mk7 GTI… I had a 6 pot diesel 3 series and the Golf is much better in every way

I was just looking at the Tado – looks good. The Drayton Wiser is similar and has smart TRVs.

I need to work out the components that are required and whether any of the existing Honeywell kit is reused (including the three way valve)

Other thing to check is the inlet manifold – we’ve had a 2006 golf tdi in the family since new and in that time it’s gine through two of them (one time the car wouldn’t start as flap was stuck starving engine of air) other time was rough idle and management light on.

I replaced a set of those wheels with Zondas – night and day difference. Ridden for two years and still true. I’m heavy and not overly careful. Personally I wouldn’t have anything else. Worth waiting for a Halfords 20% flash sale and BC discount on top?

Maybe it’s just me but with the latest youview firmware update that I didn’t ask for i’d struggle to find the channels anyway.

Sounds like a long shot but try a lace lock (google shows how) shoe is firmly gripped around ankle and may remove need for your toes to want to try and grip the shoe if your foot is sliding forward slightly.

How did you get on? My experiences are it takes from days to weeks for perfect vision to return depending how long / deep scratch is.

Ouch, good luck in speedy recovery. Should be alright in a a weeks time; I’ve done similar a couple of times and had the other eye clos out of sympathy so have had a few episodes of not being able to see for a week at a time.

One occasion was a bramble that flicked round and scratched across the middle of my cornea, took two months for blurred vision to sort it self out.

I’ve had three small ones removed from my head over the years with a local and a willing GP no issues or side effects and didn’t come back.

Had one on my back that got infected (very painful) get rid of it before it gets an infection as you have to deal with pain and let infection clear up before they can remove it.

My old man used to have a large cyst on his head – one day it just sorted it self out and never came back (he’d had it for 30 years)

Kind of shoe related… I really recommend a decent pair of socks. Personally I love the Hilly dual skins as they eliminate any foot rub for me.

Skim read so apologies if repeating…. how big is your car? One consideration when going for a travel system consider how much space the seat and base take up in the back seat as some need the passenger seat further forward than others.

Also are you considering having two children reasonably close together? If so might be worth looking at a travel system that can be adapted to take two kids. Whilst by the time your second is born first one is likely to be very keen to walk you’ll need some way of restraining the eldest while you tend to the youngest.

We’ve just bought a Mountain buggy diet for our two – not used it yet but I’m impressed by the brand and the simplicity of it.

My personal experience says to get one with air in the tyres; we have a stroller too and whilst it’s handy in a shopping arcade the solid wheels are very poor on pavements.

Lastly if you go for a travel system get a roof box as when you go on holiday you will have chuff all space for the rest of the baby’s stuff let alone your own stuff.

Recommend a trip to a large mothercare or to Kiddicare (its a shame they closed most of their branches) and just try pushing them around and find one you like.

Congratulations though – being a dad beats anything else I’ve ever done in my life.

I got mine from Pragmasis – seems decent quality, came with the drill bit and the resin capsules.

All I had to buy in addition was an SDS drill to get through the concrete….

I love taking my Fatty Trail to trail centres. It’s is slower on the climbs; awesome grip on the downs (and the rocky / roots climbs). Not the same as a full sus but it’s great fun; I have no regrets about buying mine but personally I don’t think it can be your only bike – especially if you regularly ride with mates not on fat bikes.

Agree with Cheesybeanz… Cheltenham branch is appalling. Got my bike from there due to decent sale offer. It wasn’t PDI’d properly, sales kid tried to convince me that it’s normal for wheels to have a slight buckle. Shame as wanted to use them as a LBS – wouldn’t help me with a fork return to SRAM as didn’t have receipt. In fairness one of the mechanics seems to really know his stuff and another one of the workshop team used to work in Williams and has always been good when I’ve had a problem but the rest of the staff let the store down IMHO.

As an aside if you put plenty of soapy water (washing up liquid) around the bead it will seat a lot easier and you won’t need a high pressure to pop the bead in.

I learnt the hard way after getting showered in sealant when I put 50 psi in a stans flow rim.

    Thanks all for the feedback.

NorthCountryBoy – do you have the Celsius or Celsius Artic? I’ve got some wiggle vouchers to use up so may limit my options to shoes they sell – currently they only have the Celcius in my size.

Like the look of the Lakes but at £200 more than I want to spend at the monent.

Depends what you are looking for but I’m in favour of leasing over PCP.

Piston heads as per above is a great place to look – typically first couple of days in the new quarter is when best deals seem to be around – last qtr was golf r estates and Leon cupra blacks for 5 or 6k over 2 years including initial payment this quarter was golf GTI s / A4s for similar money.

If you do want to go down PCP route rates and manufacturer contributions on new cars are far more favourable than used.

Providing that you use the discount benefits (10% Halfords and CRC) I think it’s well worth it, I have it just for third party liability and the discount usually pays for the membership within 6 months.

Another vote here for the Securoglide Excel – great bit of kit.

The garage floor was a little uneven therefore I didn’t get a perfect seal to keep the cold out – easily rectified with a carefully positioned storm guard seal on the inside.

If you haven’t already done so check out the lease offers on the Match, at one point it was around £5k to lease one for two years. There is a lease deals thread on PistonHeads that’s worth keeping an eye on if you fancy going down the lease route.

Auto handbrakes have their uses but are a pain when trying to manoeuvre into tight spaces in my experience. Our BMW auto won’t let me reverse with the door open, when you try to do so it just puts the gearbox back into park.

Depends how much you want to spend and functionality.

Personally having had one go wrong recently (surge killed main board) I’d recommend a professionally fitted alarm with a maintenance contract. Given the choice if access to floor boards is easy I’d go with a wired system, loud siren and loud internal siren (hurts ears when going off)

That’s my thinking, a 2015 Whyte T130SX caught my eye also but not sure about a suntour fork – I have the perception stuck in my mind that they were always budget forks on cheap bikes.

I didn’t have noticeable movement but the seat post consistently slipped in the frame; if I tightened the clamp to much the reverb wouldn’t move.

On one sent me a different clamp – the basic one with an Allen bolt rather than the fancy light weight quick release – problem solved.

I didn’t consider frame size – I’ve got a large – how much space is there between the disc and frame? Is it almost touching?
