Ivan I did the same with my Rebas and noticed sod all difference. Like you i've gone back to equal amounts in both.

Took it round the North Face on Sunday, my arse has nearly healed up from the terrible saddle. Thanks Merlin for replacing it with a Rocket V featuring "padding".

Climbs pretty well and sits nice and low for throwing it around on the downs. Came with a 100mm stem but at the last second peer pressure changed it to a 70. Rides much better for it.

Changed from a set of Deores with resin pads to XT with sintered and the power was disappointing.

So decided to put some resin pads in there… its like hitting a wall!

I didn’t really do any training, 10miles a day down the canal to work and then the usual off road at the weekend. If you think a G4 laptop is heavy then you must be a Vegetarian. A 14″ Dell is lighter, but then again rather than Ali and Polycarbonate like the Mac it’s actually made of the cheapest possible plastics and has the battery life to match.

Anyway, i’m pretty sure the original question was what netbook? The correct answer is currently the Samsung NC Series, i’m pretty sure the NC10 is due to be upgraded soon so keep a look out for one in the clearance sales. If you can hold on, wait for the new revision of netbooks built on the nVidia Ion hardware. It’s the form factor of a netbook but the performance of a notebook.

It weighs over twice as much, though…

I retrained last year and i’m back in industry, it just wasn’t for me.

I’d recommend having observations in schools too, it really is an eye opener and I have massive respect for those that do it. If you’re really into it you’ll find it easier.

If you’d still like to do it i’d recommend getting in touch with Dr David Spendlove at The University of Manchester you couldn’t ask for a better tutor, mentor or expert on pedagogy and design and Technology in schools.

Credit where it’s due, that’s nice and it must feel pretty good riding a bike you made yourself.

Could do with a trick paint job to go with it. Anyone remember the Spesh on the old forum with the custom leaf effect paint? I think some thing like that would look great on it.

Martin, next build day i heard is on this coming Sunday. Starts around 9.30-10ish. Once you’ve had a go at building some, you’ll never slag a trail centre again, come down, it’s hard work but very satisfying.

Oh and please “own with a set of bombers” the fella that recommended riding the trails to you.

I’m going from an Epic to a Blizzard.

I’ve tried Ali hardtails before that and a few steel before those. From what I remember steel was more forgiving than Ali with a much lower weight difference than you would expect.

For me I wasn’t a lot faster on the Epic than I was on my old Ali hardtail, in fact I think it’s made my riding a bit sloppier relying on the shock to take care of it. The hope is that a steel hardtail will not be as jaring and kick me off like Ali does when you get it wrong.

Either that or i’ve thought to much about it and i’ll still be rubbish! ;)
