A mate called about this yesterday… "we don't negotiate on the iPhone no matter how much you spend with us".

What is it about this phone and the twatish behaviour it brings out?

I'll be keeping my Blackberry for a bit longer then.

I used to be a teacher so I can see this from both sides.

On the one hand the comment about the staff to kids ratio is valid… should something like a fire happen and that ratio be incorrect you're going to have a serious litigation problem but on the other hand the reason the teachers can't get in is because of the extended travel times and there's no way you'd live in your catchment area.

That said… in the office today are the people who are interested… slackers will use any excuse to have the day off to sit on their arses!

The Zaskar, as quick uphill as it is down, still rides like nothing else.

I finally got round to watching this an my word was it disappointing.

Dances with wolves crossed with last of the mohicans via ailens. Yeah it looks good but anyone in the CG industry can create an alien in an alien environment and make it look convincing. Try District 9 for good CG that compliments the story.

Oh and believe me, any live action film that appeals more in stereo isn't worth watching in the first place.

I checked my watch 4 times and my phone twice.

I was the outlaws this year.

I showed up at 6pm on Xmas eve with £80 worth of wine and my bike, got smashed on my single malt xmas present, helped make the xmas dinner. Went riding on boxing day, fixed a laptop and then got the **** out of there on the morning of the 27th.

    Textbook guest.

Although i'm not sure which one of you it is!

My view is… you get in the V70, turn on the seat heaters, press winter on the auto box and then drive normally other than braking a bit gently. And it takes 3 bikes in the boot!

If that's the traction control then V70 FTW!

Explains everything, try that at Sainsburys Salford and you'll end up in the the meat counter!

That said… Doesn't stop us taking the piss, greatest one we ever saw was this Dad asking his kid what he wanted for dinner? Micro chips he says… righto son! In they go.

No bonus here… but I did end up selling a lot of holiday back to work.

Trying to talk myself out of a 1993 Cannondale Delta V on ebay. I don't need it it's just because it looks nice.

I'm 27 my brothers 24 and the youngest brother is 11.

So while me and our kid are listening to Tenacious D in the front we've completely forgot about the wee man in the back seats… on the way to the Grandparents house of course. Despite tribute being the best tune for some reason "**** her gently" was the only one he remembers.

Got him Grand Theft Auto 4 for Christmas.

Been using finish line red for years but the wax stuff looks pretty good.

This is on a 9 speed mtb so 10 speed might be different.

Some shops allow you to add to the £1000 limit. For example my £1000 ride to work bike came with a £350 camelbak bottle.

in some places they dont kill the animal before skinning it, so it doesnt damage the fur, which is pretty sick.

If cows do this when you try to ride them I find it hard to believe that skinning the thing alive is a possibility!

According to this navy intel officer, 15 years ago, a satallite could provide a live feed satalite video at a clarity that would allow the operator to look at the scar on the hand of someone driving a car via the reflection in the wingmirror.

I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again

Cheers TJ. That's about all I could find.

As a rough figure how much is the first option likely to cost?

I've had 2 sets of servo wave XTs and i've never bled them once. They really are fit and forget in that respect. After a year they still feel well made and work perfectly which is more than I can say for any of my mates Avids, Hayes or Hopes. Squeaky, bendy, rattly Hope levers especially!

    but equally applies to SLX!

Absolutely true. My brother has a set of these, they look cleaner, cost a bit less and feel exactly the same.

Can't remember where I heard it but Shimano XTs biggest problem is Shimano SLX

I upped my Rebas from 100 to 120 on my Blizzard, found it made a bigger difference than you'd expect.

They're great but +1 for the comments about tyres.

It's very comfortable and you can fit 2/3 bikes in the back without putting the seats down.

I have the 2.4Tse auto and the economy isn't that great, about 24mpg average but that goes up to 35mpg+ on the motorway. I've never tried it but the 2.0t strikes me as a bit small for a car that big.

Oh, you're one of 'those' are you. Thinking that the pinnacle of bike design was somewhere in the early 90's and that old Konas etc handle and ride so much better than anything out there today.

    Weird bunch…

Not really… I just think that "you should get a 456" is a default response to most of the questions on here, when doing something interesting is a much better idea.

    What the hell is that!?

It looks like the results of a three way between a road bike, an arcade machine and a shopping trolley.

    >Last Killer V/Beast of the East era Dale i saw was a 1" 1/4 headset so you'll likely need some reducer cups. 100mm forks worked

Err…they did use the term for several years….

I think we'd all agree that you should probably measure it first ;)

Yes, didn't get on with a full sus and found I prefer HT's each to their own.

Truth is the Full Suss nearly killed you in the peaks… i've got a picture of you somewhere sat as far away from it as possible looking properly pissed off!

    But to answer the OP…

Yeah I had one of those 1998 Marin Full Sussers, it was a nightmare, so i went back to a hardtail and then got an Epic… snapped the back end off it… bought a hardtail again instead.

Next one will be a full suss no doubt!

For the cost of a repaint/adding disc mounts etc I'd just get a new frame – doing that will cost a load more than what a new On-One 456

I wouldn't ride an On-One even if it was free, souless, made for a price bracket, the handling is shit no matter what size fork you stick on it, silly coloured, pile 'O' crap.

I agree, stick an XTR V on the back and some 100mm Rebas with a 160mm disc on the front. Last Killer V/Beast of the East era Dale i saw was a 1" 1/4 headset so you'll likely need some reducer cups. 100mm forks worked pretty well on it.

    Keep the dream alive!

+1 for the V70 for sleeping in. Only downside is that you can't open the tailgate from the inside so you have to get out of the rear doors.

I have a 2.4 TSE petrol auto. Gets about 36mpg on the motorway 24mpg average overall. Sits at 90mph at 2600rpm. Plenty of kit as standard and you can get some decent deals.

Pretty reliable, feels well made but when it does break… expect a hefty bill for repairs.

If GTs are the same as old, the geometry on the XC range is pretty much the same across the board, my Zaskar and Tempest were exactly the same.

For what its worth, i've found the Halfords instore staff to be extremely helpful.

It's nice that, get that saddle swapped out though, I had one of those, felt like i'd been round Barrymores for a swim in his pool.

Those shifters look a bit vertical, is that how you run em?

my ps3 broke, sony won't fix it.

Drop us a line if you fancy getting rid of it, It must be the soldering iron and screwdriver on my desk that thinks anything is worth a try!

    Cheers
