"Not convenient" sounds like not everybody is committed. Maybe have the few drinks in a bar night for those that want to show their token gesture and then anyone whos up for it have a quick trip away?

Did 36hrs in Dublin for a lads day out. Flights on Ryanair, stayed in a hostel, cost us about £40ish each return to make it plus plenty of Guinness on top. Guinness brewery tour and then hit temple bar, by the time people are getting knackered you'll be on your way back to the airport anyways. You'll have a great time. You could probably achieve the same thing in Italy.

Stag was the same thing in Amsterdam over 3 days, if people want to be on it, it'll be a success.

Mate, I bin people for having pictures of either their car or their kids as their profile pictures… i'd say this was reason enough.

From experience I think the customer service and the hubs are excellent but the rest of the kit, including the brakes I've found to be inferior to Shimano in terms of reliability and design.

I want to buy British but i've found better stuff out there.

Saw a Spesh on here a while back with a leaves printed on it. Looked like a forest floor in autumn. It was ace. It's work well on those box section tubes.

They all live in a cupboard under the stairs – when they need a report from, say Australia, the 'Australia reporter' gets wheeled into a studio in television centre and a picture of the Sydney Opera House gets put up behind them and they waffle into the camera.

Bit like the video of the moon landings, but paid for by the license fee rather than NASA

    A bit like this?

I'd call someone like Aria or Overclockers and ask them to spec a system for what you want out of real branded components..

For the love of god don't do that and then compare it to a Mac or a decent Dell.

You'll end up with the PC equivalent of this…

    It's a racecar innit!

However I would NOT NOT NOT EVER go Dell. Pepole I know have had tons of problems with their laptops; they were installing all kinds of crap and spy ware on their systems a few years ago too.

This is only true of the Inspiron/Dimension systems which you've priced yourself above.

I found the softer sole ACG to fit V8's and DX very well, they don't look as big a surface area but the pins dig into the soles nicely. Plus when it all turns a bit "hike a bike" your soles have plenty of grip on loose rock, slippy mud all that kinda XC stuff.

6.0 aren't a bad shoe on the bike and for £35 you can get either those or the ACGs.

    Wozza

I do, but it's only because my ACGs died. To be honest I think the soles are a bit hard on my feet, i've been getting cramp on long rocky descents I never used too on the ACGs.

Unless they're silly cheap i'd look at 5Tens.

Switched back from Mac to Windows 7 and it was like going from Vista  to Mac all over again.

I did look at upgrading my mac but I just couldn't justify the frankly disproportionate hardware cost over the ability to use Mac OS when Win 7 is pretty much the same if not better than Mac OS when all things are considered.

I have a Studio laptop and the build quality is significantly better than the Dell budget range.

Get the Dell and Hakintosh it up for when you need Mac specific stuff, you'll have more money left over to upgrade it later as the parts costs fall, which doesn't happen with Mac stuff.

I think i'm just so used to doing them I can't really imagine not having the option. I reckon the comment about suss bikes is fair, on a HT jumping an obstacle that a FS would soak up is quicker and comfier.

I'd love to learn to backflip… but where do you even start with that?!

We used to build a ramp in the street and ride it all day until someone stacked it and either broke the ramp or themselves.

I think i answered my own question.

I'm on a F700 Dale, Recon Solo Airs, Deore/LX group, LX wheels, LX discs, Conti Mountain Kings. Picked it up out of the classifieds. Figured killing XT regularly was going to get expensive so a second bike was required. ;)

5 miles off road down the canal. Way less dodgy than the road commute.

Skids and Wheelies as a child were compulsory! I don't know how you've not learnt! We used to build a ramp in the street and ride it all day until someone stacked it and either broke the ramp or themselves.

Out on the trail if it looks remotely like a ramp the urge to jump off it is WAY too strong not to. Skids, wheelies and stoppies are all good fun but if you can't bunny hop i've no idea how you can ride off road.

    Edit

The thing that baffles me is how do people ride off road without being able to bunnyhop?

you can't be serious, surely. people do it everyday.

It's like a get out of jail free card, surely you must stack it if you can't bunny hop?

Use it more now I have a bar mounted lever but it's really only on tarmac. When I do use it for climbing off road I do forget to turn it back on again!

I believe that earlier frames had a shallower rebate in the headtube that won't accept a 1.5" headset cup without modification.

Cannondale head tubes are machined to fit a short insertion headset anything that needs to go in further wont fit.

    This sounds plausible, I think it's a 02/03

I didn't do it, I bought it like that. To be honest I didn't spot it but it was such a good deal I would have bought it anyway.

There's a huge amount of self loathing going into my purchase, but with my sensible head on I think it's the best choice.

I said to the Vodafone lady that I would be interested in a 3gs but didn't fancy a 2 year contract and potentially having an out of date phone at the end of it.

She said, hang on til June there's a new one out that'll be on all the same price plans, "it's what everyone in the office is doing".

So i'll be waiting till June.

Oh and sorry about the thread hijack.

I looked at it and was interested but I think i'm going to take it up the arse from Apple and Vodafone and get the new iPhone rumoured to be out in June.

Would you trust a Halfrauds mechanic to know what to do ? There may be some good ones, but Im yet to see one.

They do exist… the Preston and the Manchester White city stores are pretty good. That said i've been in the Stockport store and seen a customers bike fall apart like a clowns car as he pedalled through the shop!

To be honest if you have no faith in them, take your bike in, point out the part and fit it yourself.

Edit: Oh wait… you did that :-)

Bike shops are hit and miss… in my opinion Evans are no better than Halfords!

    Solar-powered Bibles sent to Haiti

    Posted Tue Jan 19, 2010 2:39pm AEDT

As international aid agencies rush food, water and medicine to Haiti's earthquake victims, a United States group is sending Bibles.

But these aren't just any Bibles; they're solar-powered audible Bibles that can broadcast the holy scriptures in Haitian Creole to 300 people at a time.

The Faith Comes By Hearing organisation says its Bible, called the Proclaimer, delivers "digital quality" and is designed for "poor and illiterate people".

It says 600 of the devices are already on their way to Haiti.

The Albuquerque-based organisation says it is responding to the Haitian crisis by "providing faith, hope and love through God's word in audio".

The audio Bible can bring the "hope and comfort that comes from knowing God has not forgotten them through this tragedy," a statement on its website says.

"The Proclaimer is self-powered and can play the Bible in the jungle, desert or … even on the moon!"

Tens of thousands of Port-au-Prince residents are living outdoors because their homes have collapsed or they fear aftershocks following Wednesday's quake.

I don't know what's worse, that they think a solar powered bible is of any use to anybody after an earthquake or that they think you can hear an audio book in zero atmosphere.

The Marins were the ones that really took off, at least in the Lakes anyway. Around 97/98 suddenly they were everywhere.

I'd agree with that, I had an East Peak with the coil shock which was a bit crap but the frame handled ok, i'm told the MV pro was miles better.

I'm on a Blizzard and it's great. Rides a lot better with a 115mm fork, top tube is nice and low so it skips off the rough stuff underneath you. Can't recommend one enough.

and the paint job is class…

My whole team has cried off… two of which who drive AWD cars!

Current plan is to see if I can get away with watching Iron Man in HD on the 8m x 3m screen in the basement.

Or Quake Live or the obligatory snowball fight in the car park!

    "Working from home"? Saps!
