If you’re not great in the sea, your breathing will be all over the place. So you wont be able to swim very well.

Dont worry about it. Teenagers are horrible. I used to have arguments all the time with my lad when he was 14-16. I was in the gym the other day where he works, he was chatting with one of the members, he introduced me, the guys first comment was, you’ve done a good job with this one. So despite being made to think I was a terrible parent by him during his teenage years, he acknowldeges that maybe we aren’t that bad, after all.

But I know from my own self that a couple of beers the night before leads to slightly better running speed the next day

I did a duathlon a while back, it was just a training day for an Ironman I was doing later in the year. Anyway, had a slug of single malt before i went to bed. Finished 8th :)

Most things in modern life have a negative effect on us in some way, if you enjoy a few beers dont beat yourself up about it and enjoy it. Everything in moderation.

How strange, i’ve just looked up the apple test and low and behold I can’t “see” an apple. Show me a 2D technical drawing and I can imagine it, a map i can imagine the landscape.

I’ve done 2 routes down from La Bourgoise to Samoens, both Brilliant, highly recommended.

As mentioned above, there is a bus or the bike shop. I wouldn’t fancy a 13km ride back up the mountain on  knobbly tyres to be honest.

Out of interest, how easy/hard was it to build up the frameset with regards the internal routing for the brakes/derailleur?

My Son rolled his car driving like a bell end, he had 2 friends in the car. Miraculously none of them had a scratch on them. After the initial hug to make sure he was okay, he got it with both barrels.

The car only cost a grand, so we wrote it off without claiming. His premium went up by a few hundred pounds when he got a new car, we told them he had had an accident but no claim, and no 3rd party. So in the grand scheme of things, not that bad.

Silver lining? He is now a very careful driver, and is very aware of what might have been.

There’s a path from Boston to Lincoln, I think it’s pretty much all tarmac but it’s pleasant enough

Another possible angle is to consider imposter syndrome. This is where you feel that you are in a position but don’t deserve to be and are worried about being found out.

Everyone is winging it, it some shape or form.

“The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A ****” by Mark Manson is a good resource.

A very good read, and echo the above only worry about what you can control.

It sounds silly, but it does help train your brain to leave things and move on

Not Silly at all, you train muscles to be stronger, more resillient, its only the same concept.

Just to resurrect this thread, Will the symptons be worse riding on the hoods of a drop handle bike rather than the flat bars of a mountain bike?

Have had pins and needles in my sleep for 18 months or so, went to the doctors who said if it gets worse then surgery, but at the moment, suck it up buttercup. Never really bothered me during the day, or on the either road or mtb for that matter. But the last 2 weeks, my arm is sore from the elbow down, like i’ve banged my funny bone and its keeping me awake at night. I’ve ordered a splint to see if it helps at night, and i’ll attempt to ring the doctors…

I could have wrote the OP, I was looking at the Revolt to replace my defy. I’m 5 11″ and the M/L fits perfect.

I do worry about the cracking issue on the d fuse post however…

Nothing to add that hasnt already been said other than the Fairlight Secan looks lovely!

Currently have a Camino for Gravel/Commuting etc and a Giant Defy as a road bike, but not really used it much as I cant be arsed with the car drivers anymore.

Did think about getting a revolt and doing the 2 wheel thing though,  in the event i did fancy a road ride.

But that Fairlight has turned my head!!

Hill Reps + overgearing is for you.

2 min efforts, roll back down to recover & repeat 3 or 4 times.

Increase reps over a few weeks.

Edit –  you probably dont want to do it it more than a couple of times a week depending on other excercise.

As others have said, canal towpath, bridleways, etc they are great. I bought an Aluminium Camino last year and have some great rides on it. I am contemplating getting a Giant Revolt frame and swapping my bits over from a Giant Defy I have which I hardly use. Not sure why it would be any better than the Camino though!

Thought it was a well written article, I love my Camino as my go to bike for just going for a ride.

My Brother lives in Arrowtown, I suppose he’s fortunate that he’s was able to buy some land and build his own house. Is the reason you are saying there’s better places to be is because of the housing costs? He did say that the property prices have gone through the roof!

T-140 RS 29er Full Suspension Trail Bike

Latest version is a 29er, I bought the S150 a few years back, it is a brilliant bike, has given me much more confidence in my riding.

I’ve just put mine back on! SKS Edge. Only thing i d’ont like is the rear protudes a bit too far, on the odd occasion i lift it on its rear wheel to wheel it through a narrow gap it sometimes scrapes on the floor.
