In ‘some cases’ it is that easy….However, in most it means buying a compatible damper with your fork. In the past, I’ve taken the serial number for the fork and given SRAM Tech a call; They’ll be able to clarify whether the spare damper unit you have will work.

Or, you could just take a punt and fit it (as long as you know how to measure and adjust the oil in the damper to fit it then it might be a good day for you 😀 )

I use the Altura stuff, which is relatively well priced and pretty good too. Uses the React fabric, which is basically water and wind proof.

ittttt just so happens that I am selling some XL sized trousers and 3/4 shorts, both either new without tags (trousers), or worn no more than twice (3/4 shorts) 😀 …coincidence? I think not…

If interested let me know 🙂

    Hi Daffy,

The TALAS 5 cart has a plastic lower (can’t remember for the life of me what the correct terminology is now!), which in some cases was manufactured with a defined edge. This can in some cases get stuck when deep into the travel and under sidewards load – These are rare cases. It gives the impression that it is ‘stuck down’. The TALAS cart would ordinarily run a higher pressure and most of the time it is caused by someone running too low pressure leading to the sticking down bit. Fox sorted this by retro-fitting a tapered plastic bit and thus the sticking down doesn’t happen.

A way to release this without taking it apart is to let all pressure out, remove the valve core and compress the fork entirely a few times and attempt to release the sticking part. Re-assemble and pressurise and hopefully it works. If not, you have to take the lowers off buddy and then you’ll see what I’m on about.

To have a new part fitted you’ll need to contact Mojo or let them know to run a higher pressure as the TALAS cart can in some cases not be the right cart for a lighter person.

This may not be your issue but it’s worth a check pal 🙂

Mate, I was looking for ne for mine (Long), couldn’t get one at all for that wheelbase (not that any of the companies would happily say ‘would work’ anyhow 🙂 ). I had a Thule one which would fasten if the tyres were deflated but really wasn’t comfortable saying it was safe, if you know what I mean…only had about one click of the ratchet fastened in both sides 😀 not ideal.

The only thing I did think of but didn’t get was one that mounted on the tow-bar/ball and went up to hold the top tube, but never got around to testing anything.

Be interested to see if you find anything though buddy 🙂

The ones I’ve had have all needed the specific cranks, but I’m sure this may only be like I say, in ‘some’ cases…I’ve just had crap luck it appears. I know XT make a Boost specific crank if that helps.

I built up a Trek with XTR that definitely needed specific cranks – Just info that worth looking into should you have issues 🙂

Sometimes the crankset will foul the chainstays too buddy…If you’re lucky enough not to have that issue, you’ll have heel rub for damn sure 🙂

Boost specific cranks mucker…Sorry to be the bearer of possible bad news mate.

As it should be, anything Warranty related will be dealt with straight away/ASAP (as long as they have the required parts in stock).

The turn-around time for Service is up at three weeks due to the amount of stuff passing through. In reality I’ve had things back in two weeks, but work on three. The guys there are pulling shifts until 9pm to try sort it too, gotta cut them a bit of slack sometimes 😀

Not ideal but it is what it is 🙂

Brecon I’d say…If you’re after a decent day in the saddle then ‘The Gap’ is the one (click the link / scroll down / # 4): –

There is a pack of maps you can buy online, worth a look if you’re down for a while.

For the Brecon side of things…Try snooping through this link:

The National Park Visitor Centre at Libinus is worth a look and ride from too, very basic routes but nice to spin the pedals and have a base with a cafe! 😀

I bought this pack of maps, was a lot easier than planning it myself on a OS map so definitely recommended:

    @Pinetree – woolymonster@hotmail.com

@Wrecker – I have considered it, actually quite like it and from what I hear it’s pretty good to ride, but got a lot of stuff to swap from another frame…this coupled with a killer deal on either frame I’m looking at has resulted in the choices 🙂

@Kingofbiscuits – Cheers dude, looks like a good tough choice for me then 🙂 …got to take a punt at some point…thanks for taking the time to reply dude

Fellas, all kinds of good and thanks for the input.

Yeah I have considered the 5.5c as well, but is too close to my other bike, so really wanted to look at the lower travel alternatives.

    Amazing, thanks guys…

    Sorry bigjim, nada chance! 🙂

Tom.Nash – I will tinker the hell out of it, but what kind of TLC does it need, I thought it was merely a grease port to occasionally put some in(?)

Pinetree – Some of the reviews are talking about the mismatched front and rear travel lengths, do you feel that’s an issue after owning one? point taken about the lack of ISCG/front mech mount too…yours looks mint too!

Side entry cage buddy, I know Bontrager and Spesh make one but pretty sure most companies do them. Depending on how extravagant you want (carbon etc), will determine the brand

I had one for a couple of years, to be fair it was damn good! Totally XC orientated and climbs bloody well…but does have a very old school head angle. But as for the ride, it’s mint 🙂 I really liked mine and only sold it a few weeks ago, thankfully as it’d sell for cock all now 😀

Had mine for a year and loved riding it…time for a change for me so selling. It did go through shock bushes, but as some one else said, just consumable items. Otherwise, everything else was great.

Used a DOSS? I tried one and loved it…just wiating for the Reverb to fail now, but seems like I’ve got the only one that hasn’t! 😀

If you do use a Reverb shim, just make sure the shim is a minimum of 10cm and both post and shim are below the weld point juncture of the top-tube and seat tube…too little in this area will put strain on the weld point…could in some cases cause it to fail.

You can remove it, but is non reversible. Basically you’re trimming the silver bits off right down to the hose, then attaching the post side hose insert and strain relief. Once attached, re-bleed and use as normal 🙂

    Stealth or externally routed?

Movement, as in forward/backwards slightly; sagging under load, or left right when holding/twisting the saddle?

Well if it’s working, then it’s all good 🙂 but reckon someone could have rebuilt the remote replacing the black with the sllver adjuster…long shot but possible. But it should not work, but if it is, all cool 😀

I’ve got a 2 bike Thule one from about 6yrs ago and it has been mint, however it is narrow! I cannot fit 2 x FS bikes on there with 142 rear axles, which is a right pain in the hoop. I’ve recently been looking for one that will work for 2 bikes and also fit the bikes I have. I actually bought a Thule Euro power rack but although the space for 2 DH bikes was there, the moulded wheel wells would not accept an inflated tyre of above 2.0, so that went back. Recently I’ve found these guys ( http://www.bikerackcompany.com/product-category/car-racks/ ), that have pretty good ones. Haven’t got one yet but think it might be the right one as the wheel wells slide along the frame of the rack (or so the emails from the company say anyhow).

If you do find one, let me know which one you get as I’m currently trying to sell mine and get a new one 🙂

A1 and A2 is the different versions using silver adjusters (A1), and black adjusters (A2)…I think 🙂

Silver adjuster – More common with the earlier externally routed Reverbs which also had the silver coloured post collar. The remotes with Silver speed adjusters will not work as a replacement for a remote with a black coloured speed adjuster, as they both move different amount of fluid and therefore are not compatible. So if you replace one, make sure it has the same colour speed adjuster.

The silver and black collar on the post are universal and will fit each other, the only thing to ensure is that the remotes are compatible, so remove a remote with a black coloured adjuster, then replace with the same.

MMX – Just the Matchmaker for the SRAM shifter mount, which can be removed if you’re not using it.

Think that’s it, hope it helps 🙂

I have a Med Rockstar frame with Chris King headset installed, both in great condition if you’re interested in building up your own for a lot less than £1600 for a full build. It’s a couple of yrs old with hardly any use. Can send pics if interested, just ping me an email to: woolymonster@hotmail.com

Could probably put a bike together too with everything I have spare 🙂

As for how it rides = Awesome, climbs amazingly and pretty capable on most things considering the geometry and travel. Loved mine, but it’s not getting used so being ruthless with the extra stuff I have!

Yeah like Tuska said, it’s air in the damper so instead of a bed of oil to rest on as you sit on it, it has now got a bit of air in there too so you’re compressing the air first, then hitting the oil level after 10mm. Common cause of it it with the post down, picking it up. This can pull air past the seal head and introduce air in the damper…there are numerous other ways of it happening too, like leaking seals etc.

Sending it in, or doing a full service is the only way to sort it as you need get rid of the air, however as you unthread the bolt to access the IFP and oil level, it will be under pressure. This is why they want it back to sort as it can literally fire off. Some jobs are just worth leaving to others and this is one of them (unless you’re very familiar with the internals of the Reverb). Whatever you choose to do, hope you get it sorted dude 🙂

    Arrrrr, 2.5mm….50/50 chance 😀

Either way, as you’ll know they’re available as a spare part…before getting one I’d try find a mate with Pikes and try theirs first 🙂

Just an idea, but have you tried removing the rebound adjuster and placing a decent 3mm Allan key in there and trying to turn it with that? If it has the same resistance using that then it’ll be something internal within the Charger damper that’s an issue; Or if it moves freely, I’d check the adjuster you have and see if it is either bent, or if you may have over Torqued it when fitting it?

Just an idea, hope it helps

I have a Rune V2 and it is awesome…like MindMap said, the limitation is me with mine but the bike is so capable it’s unreal. Lumping a 160mm bike uphill is always going to be a bitch but in my mind it’s worth it…but always wondered if the Spitfire would have been enough 😀 …but, I do still love the Rune. I’ve seen Spitfires and Runes at both BPW and CwmCarn and every rider has been more than happy.

MindMap – Yeah a medium, as for the weight saving….a mix of rediculously expensive and over-spec’ed kit that I in no way need…but thought fu€# it – I want it! 🙂
