Used Dow Corning myself, as have the 2 different bathroom fitters we used. Our main bathroom hasn’t needed a change of sealant for over 5 years now. En suite shower sealant had to be changed as a really thin layer was added that looked great, but didn’t stand the test of time. Keeping it dry is key after a bath or shower. Yes it will degrade but at least no mould build up. This is assuming no damp build up in bathroom or cold spots along with decent extraction (mine is always on).

I had the original for about 8 years. Faultless until then but wanted a larger coffee and the machine developed a small leak. Got the vertuo last August, great coffee but I’m on my third machine as previous 2 developed leaks in different places. I hope this one lasts a decent amount of time but I won’t hold my breathe.

Edit: Nespresso sorted out the replacements quickly.

I treated my gravel bike chain yesterday. Fryer was set to 130. Inner chain had a lot more putoline left which is difficult to remove once it cools. Looks messy on the bike but worked fine. Chain nice and quiet even when riding through thick glup. Hosed it down when I got back and cassette still looks clean but definitely putoline on the teeth of cassette and front chain rings. As long as it all works I won’t get upset over it 🙂

Just need to figure out how to leave enough on the chain next time but clean it up more.

I have a Thule rack where you take the front wheel off. I can fit my Trek Rail or Orange Five or Trek Checkpoint on it. With the ebike I take the battery out and with the front wheel off too it weighs 16.8kg. at that weight it is a bit more than a full suss bike so easy to lift up. Tried lifting it on the roof with everything on and it’s more than doable but not so easy if balancing it before you latch it onto place. I have a sheet of waterproof 3mm foam for wrapping around the downtube which will be held by velcro straps to protect the connectors inside.

I generally use the rack for taking the bikes to the bike shop or if going further away than normal. My local trail centre is just slightly further away than the battery could cover if I rode there and back along with having the luxury of choosing a higher mode. Could do it all in eco I expect although not tried it yet as got the bike after lockdown started last year. Another reason I drove nearer the centre was brother in law on his not E bike didn’t want to ride the extra 20 miles on top of riding around the trail centre and into and back as we still park around 5 miles away.

GB News is his next stop perhaps? Saw someone speculating elsewhere he might end up on the channel.

My local shop warned me hardly any stock this year and order before the autumn for a bike next year.

Got all the gear (not quite no idea) and had the same issue on my road bike as pedlad. Ordered some 9 speed KMC quick links which arrived yesterday. Will also be chucking in a spare brand new 9 speed chain from my old Hardrock Pro I had lying around which will be useful – have a 2nd spare for some reason too.

Tin lid was a bit of a faff to remove but not too bad. Will give it a go by the weekend hopefully now my ebike is also back from the shop

Maybe a market for motor covers whilst washing the bike? I have washed my Trek Rail a fair few times, only with a Hydroshot or hose. Hydroshot no where near the motor or remote unit, but hose has been close enough. I always shake and bounce bike to remove excess water. Hundreds of miles so far and ok, not been out on it as much as I’d like.

Does the decathlon work on a 12 speed? Or is it just based on smallest cog size?

Well I have also jumped in on this and ordered putoline and the Argos special.

Will see how it goes. I assume the fryer basket just sits in/on the solid putoline when not being used, probably obvious but thought I’d ask.

I did reply before, but it’s missing for some reason. Around Christmas I went for a ride into the city (Nottingham) and on my way back down a relatively steep hill I applied the brakes and the fade was ridiculous. Not fun coming up to a roundabout on the main ring road and praying the bike stops. Not sure if the brakes were at fault or some contaminant got on the disc but no squeal and after this the brakes were working but I was not going 30mph. Will test this weekend on my way through Sherwood Pines and out to Clumber Park, not that there is any steepness there of course.

Thanks all, food for thought. If I went down the new groupset route, unlikely I’d find anything in stock anyway so will take a look at the Giant system.

Thanks for that. Was sort of hoping I could get Shimano hydraulic system + levers but of course that would require at least new rear mech and cassette as all of them are 10 or 11 speed.

MY dad was one of the first he thinks in the 65 and over category to get his injection today at G Live in Guildford, he said the place was deserted in terms of those waiting to get vaccinated. He asked the doc/vaccinator why they thought it was so quiet, they weren’t sure. Anecdotal of course.

Seen a lot of ebikes at Sherwood, riding my Five around there trying to keep up with a mate on a single speed and failing. Only heard of one incident which was on that same ride, a guy swearing at everyone in his way, even families. He was not on an ebike though. He also was seen later about to get into fisticuffs with someone, no doubt due to his behaviour. My mate tried to calm both parties down, ended up with sweary guy riding off, shouting obscenities of course. I am also an ebike owner, own it for fun and it does make Sherwood much more fun as it is a pedal fest.

To even out my ebike ownership card, I also ride my road/gravel bike in the mudfest currently surrounding where I live. I do fall into the out of shape ebike owner though, but I don’t behave like a complete *expletive*. I’ll never understand that mindset.

It’s too late now but free to play games will “soon” be no gold required apparently.

To ask a related question, how long would you expect a tubeless setup to stay reasonably inflated if left to sit in a garage. I know pressures will drop but my Trek Checkpoint rear wheel drops to near flat within 5-6 days (when not used). Pressure to begin with was around 45psi on a Vittoria 37mm gravel tyre.
