Yes mate it flys up hill (with my whippet mate on it!) Its a good climber (With me on!) doesnt wander like you think it would mate, and it sticks to the dirt like glue. used it all over from meridas to wales to local woods cant fault it so far! I really think its worth you giving one a go. Best of luck and enjoy nothing like bike shopping!!

Hi mate I have a five. I rode a lot of bikes before I bought it I had a stumpy, tried a heckler marin etc, but the five just feels right, brill bike.
I got the pro and then upped some of the bits, rims fork etc through orange. I cant fault it for my riding.

Best advice is get a few demo bikes (and by that I mean give a deposit and go off for the day on the trails on it, (my demo five I had for the weekend so really got to get used to it and I loved it.) I also got my mate to ride my other bike so I could swap to what I already had to see if I had a better ride plus they got a go on a new bike too!)

But untill your try riding it all day up hill and down you wont know. However if its a scott genius they are pants!!!!!!!

dont think so Pants on fire coundt get the old BB out so got LBS to do it rather than break the bb in the bike.

All the threads look fine and it went in perfect before I put the left side in, screws in and out perfectly just wont tighten up.

    Short answer MBUK

Long answer and slight defence of Single track below!!!

I get both and read both TBH prefer MBUK MBR I seem to get to the end of the new mag through the door flick through and think “is that it?” MBUK is loads better than it was even two years ago, still some cr*p in there but all mags are like that. I also read dirt STW WBM etc.

I do like Singletrack and I still like the shonky nature of the mag some months its brilliant. I like the travel articles that one about the yak attack race was amazing and I re-discovered an arty bit in issue 44 by mat about first descents which was just brill. But the Brooks article is of no interest at all to me even when desperate for some bike stuff to read I have never even looked at it but that’s me eh!?! SO I don’t really care if there is a typo once in a page to me life is too short to be that an*l about spelling in a bike mag!!!

Hello mate I haven’t ridden the Blood but I have a five, pro with upgrades to fork performance pack 819 rims m4’s etc I did this to get a bike I wanted the se was not quite what I wanted so went lower and upped the spec using orange own options. Its an amazing bike I ride it all over the shop south downs, Afan, Hamsterly keilder, meridas its a fab bike as an all rounder.

The Blood to my untrained eye is the burly chuckable bike in the range big drops gaps etc so less of an all rounder aim towards the more extreme end of riding??

If your after a tough versatile trail bike which climbs well and flies down hill, can handle jumps drops etc then I cant speak highly enough of the Five mate really cant!!

Sorry druidh in brain dump mode (three week old son!)

I just ride my bike for a laugh, ride with some more able serious guys and some less serious! This just seems really Cliquey and closed door to me new chap you always cut them some slack first time out eh!?!

But the whole road thing seems so uptight and anal. I just cant see the fun really,

I live in a village one road in and out, it does however have a cycle lane which every one bar full team kit wearing rodies seem to be able to use and it does my nutt when I am going to work or home! when the cycle lane is ther to be used by bikes goes the same way as the road therfore has no disadvantage bar admitting that you cant maintain 30 mph up hill…

wow sounds friendly!! re-affirms my non road bike/anti club feelings!! Dont really know what it is about the fashion police TBH I’ll ride with any one on any bike in any kit (wouold think they were daft if they dont wear a lid but still! Their head eh!) but rodies apart fom not saying hello and neevr under any circumstances using a cycle land even when only moving at the speed of a injuryed snail in full team kit cant all be bad eh…

But then I’m sure your just having a sunday night Troll eh!?!

It’s getting 150k (its been on the front page here in news I think) spent on it soon I think. I really like it to be honest red route is a bit tame but the black sould be do-able. With new riders I would do the first single track section of the red near the skills loop with a spin on the skills section for a taste the first section of the black up to the first river crossing is goog fun with out being too much for newer riders.

It gets a right slagging on here but its not that bad really. If your after a bit more Keidler is only an hour or so away or chopwell woods ( spelling) power line trail never ridden it but might be worth a look? is not far off.

I’m 6’2 and a bit and ride a 20″ the 18 was just too cramped top tube wise but the 20 is fine with out being a gate. My LBS could get any size of orange in from orange at about a weeks notice so you should be able to get a demo from a good orange dealer. Its still very chuckable and with the seat post down its got a low top tube so it doesnt get in the way.

Dubarry do make the best boots (for offshoe stuff then I always liked the chameau boots are the mutts nutts for north sea atlantic stuff.) but at a price as for shoes when racing I wear Harken sailing trainers, as for shoe I wore chatham shoes as they were chea-per than dubarry’s but stuck well to the deck and lasted. BUt I would really look at the trainers.
