Nothing wrong with specialized bikes think they are very good!! My issue 😉 is just the next big thing I comfortable with my bikes they don’t hold me back its my skill bottle fitness etc not the bike be that my HT or FS I’ve seen chaps on HTs clean stuff with real style and flow I can’t get near on my FS for the reasons above! But I’m working on it!!

I like the travel parts thing like trans Wales yak attack, idiabike bc bike race the trans prov article was really good stw. Stw always had a great line in single page articles liked them. I hoped privateer would be less buy this and more ride here but first issue wasn’t for me seen 2nd issue in lbs so might have a look….

Changing tyres is an issues for me I ride about 22 miles a day and now have a cross bike its quicker The faff of tyres off and on on a Friday and Sunday night and or again if I get an Mtb spin in the week is an arse. I need to grab a bike and go if I can get out.

2nd the commuter bike really the spin to work and back will take a toll on your Mtb salt etc plus if you need to leave it outside risk of theft etc,

Hang on and see of you manage a month of commuting in and out then look if you need a dedicated bike.

Make sure they are not too tight, it’s easy to really belt them on first time out. They only need to be tight enough to stop heel lift.

I have the older xtr last generation they are faultless! The new one on the quick ten min ride up and down the road seemed to let let pull out easily but might be my setting on them.

For those who think I have the wrong bike/frame/groupset……entitled to your opinion and I expect it from posting my bike on here but I will happily keep up with you guys on XC race/trail/all mountain (maybe not balls out DH) – I may suffer on the hill going up (fitness) or going down (due to being scared probably) – but I will get there and smile my ass off all day long.

Comment of the thread for me!!!! Enjoy mate, I like the build and those fox forks are great. I think it will be a great fast fun bike.

I have the luck to have a HT and a 140mm F/s I do ride the HT a lot just really enjoy it it’s different I’m slower on my HT( and my FS!!) than my mates but I really enjoy the spin, Lycra is the way forward for long xc loops for me if there is lots of climbing I just find baggies get in the way. However for techie stuff I’m going play on a big decent I chuck baggies on the top before the way down……….they stand up better to crashes plus if the Lycra rips I’m naked 😮 !!

But ride what makes you happy you don’t need to spend 3 k on a goos FS the pitch or camber are great FS bikes.

2nd what kona said, riding gear, plus passport/ pic drivers licence plus credit card.

Also a warm coat you’ll at some stage be waiting for a bike to come back from a run with someone else. You’ll know which one is for you after about 30 min mate less sometimes! It’s a great day out I did a demo at Cannock last year rode three bikes and bought the one I liked a week later!

Hi mate little advice on the frame choice but the biggest difference I found to riding any sustained distance on a bike day after day was bike fit. I went and got fitted by a really good bike shop took about three hours on the jig but that then gave me the size top tube length even stem length and number of spacers! From that the base info I then narrowed down my choices of frame etc.

Just a thought but it’s the best money I have ever spent! Sounds like a great challenge what’s the event name? Best of luck!
😆 google is a wonderful thing!! Tour of africa look amazing!

Got a bfe with u turn revs it’s an amazing bike. Use it for single track, trail centres, mincing ( can’t afford to not go to work 🙂 ) and find it great will get up anything you point it at and I have never felt under or over biked event on my last run of the day when knackered!

The soul is toowhippy forme I’m a bigger rider and having had a chat with Cy I built up a bfe as a trail bike, much prefer it to my stiffee and even my five has stayed put this winter. Don’t think for the money or even three times the money you’ll get more bike.

Have to agree with Jedi ride want you want!!

Ton you still poorly mate? I have got some very flash bits on my new bike which was a dream build and is far far too flash for my riding ability but I love it! I do find though when you can’t ride due to other things it seems like a huge water of money especially when my other nike my slx HT is so good. I sold an xtr mojo and bought it the mojo was my dream bike but Ijust could get on with it al all.

It’s all about perspective which is hard to maintain when you cant ride and I’d say most of us here ride to escape chill get our own head space and over fund this from time to time. The way I look at it if all the bills are paid for kids have all they need the bit of money I have to stuff away is my choice I’d rather spend it in the lbs than the pub as some of my mates do ie I’d rather have a few pints one night that’s every week and save the dosh on shiny bike bits or a project.

Hope all is well fella always enjoyed your new bike posts!

DO NOt I SAY AGAIN DO NOT BUY A CARBON ANYTHING!!! I rode a carbon tennis racket ( the 29er of the racquet world) at les get last week it broke carbon entered my little toe (I was wearing flip flops) and through my blood stream it has entered my brain stem. The Doctors say it will be fatal they don’t know when but they say it could be any moment nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww…………………….j.gvjbvjbcghfxhgugvjh.

Carbon is fine I’m in a better place now and Mother Teresa is doing whips over the doubles on a Mojo HD…….. 😆
