Well BT now own EE which owns Orange and T Mobile, so if the services are not the same they should be soon as BT want to get a massive foot hold of the mobile and home market.

I have just signed up from a BT sim as they are doing a double data offer so will be interesting to see any differences.

Yes of course we want someone that is going to ask questions over what is needed, but also want someone that uses their skills and knowledge to look at our business and work out what would be good, from a design point of view. Someone we can work with and not just someone that produces drab old artwork as they have the illustrator skills but not any design flair.

If someone produces great artwork and ads that result in us getting more business then more than happy to pay them a very good rate.

Yes but Siri is useless. She cant even control apps and simple task on an iPhone. Personally and I have tried a quite a few times, I cant get Siri to really do anything useful. Even gettign her to dial numbers when driving never works

We plumped for one last Friday as well. Thought we would give it a go and if no go super easy to return to Amazon. We currently have a Sonos but really only use it for playing Amazon music and radio. ie not hooked up to some NAS drive with 1000’s of tracks. Like the idea of talking to get it to start playing or change tracks as the kids can then control it then, instead of playing with my phone. We also have a Hive so that will be handy.

What I want to try and do is see if I can get it to hook up to a bluetooth speaker and then play out of 2 speakers at the same time. We have just opened up our kitchen and conservatory and our Sonos 1 isn’t really powerfull enough to fill both rooms. Hopefully an Echo and a bluetooth speaker will be. Sonos is great but annoying that it is such a closed ecosystem.

I think it will be one of these devices you either love and use all the time or stop using it for much quite quickly.

Budget isn’t so much of an issue if the work is good and distinctive. It’s really trying to find someone that we can build a relationship with so when we say ” can you knock up a Christmas promotion advert” they have fair idea of what we are after and we don’t have to define every single detail to the smallest level. We want someone that will bring their design flair and knowledge and not just their illustrator skills.

Suck it up and sign it, as life is too short. If your really bothered let someone else bring the booze in when it’s someone birthday. You can then forget about it and concentrate on the job in hand, planning your biking at the weekend!!

    Brilliant!!!

The whole ecosystem of that annoys me. It annoys me that those machines exist – that all through the design, prototyping and manufacture process nobody stops and thinks ‘hang on – this hand drier we’re going to make doesn’t dry hands’. Even though their business is called ‘World Dryer’ and thats their only job.

And the distributor doesn’t think – ‘this hand dryer doesn’t dry hands’

And the retailer does’t think about that

And whoever specs and and installs it doesn’t

And whoever manages and maintains the premises doesn’t seem to care either – just send it back as unfit for purpose you idiot. They don’t deserve your money.

The whole of the journey from the germ of the idea to the moment you’re standing there pointlessly waving your hands in some warm breath has just been one colossal mexican wave of shrugged shoulders.

    – Petrol station pump design. In the past you could go to any pump and they swung out over your car if the filler was on the wrong side. None seem to do this anymore.
    – People that put their side lights on. What is the poiint of side lights anyway?

I think the problem is that you hired a California. We have a converted T5 long wheel base high top and there in tons and tons of storage. 4 of us went to France for 2 weeks and we had free space in the cupboards. High tops are great as you can stuff all the beading, duvet, pillows, tent, blow up beds, etc, etc up the top and this frees up loads of space from the cupboards low-down. We then have all our clothes in the cupboard above the cab. You then have all the normal cupboards by the folding seat for the food, shoes, coats, camping gear etc.

Probably because middle class parents have the time and money to drive their kids across a city to get them into the so called best religious school. Whereas working class parents don’t have the time, money or can’t be arsed and just send their kids to the local school. I’m middle class but clearly put myself in the can’t be arsed camp, to be fair the schools are all quite good. If you are happy to drive you kids half way across a city to get them to school each day then you probably take their education very seriously and do a lot more out of school education and push your kids more academically. Other people probably push their kids in other ways that may not result in better exam results but their kids might be overall better rounded.

Religion should have no impact on school admission and if anything it should be illegal. If a school receive state funding they should be open to all. Yes they might choose to give a more religious education but no way they should apply religion to admission.

Personally I think there should be no selection allowed for any school. Schools are part of the community so should be open to all parts of the community. They should not just be factories to pass exams and send pupils to the top universities. A plumber or electrician is just as important as a doctor for society to function.

It does seem very odd that the Mirror Black finishes scratches so easily and they have even put a disclaimer on their website saying so. The iPhone Colour from a few years back had a very tough and shinny finish so not sure why they didn’t just down that route. I can see a massive class action that they have made a phone finish that is not fit for purpose. It bloody annoys me that they make a great looking and ultra thin phone but then nearly everyone sticks a case on it as the finish is so delicate. There are tons of things they could do to keep the same general look but have a tougher finish. The screens don’t scratch easily so why should the backs.

Gone for Black 32gb. Sick of my iPhone 6 16GB constantly running out of storage so I glad they bumped up the lower storage level. Let’s just hope 32GB is enough and that I shouldn’t have gone for 128gb.

Upgrade to iPhone 7 with Apple Plug.
This isn’t 2009. Your phone doesn’t have a floppy drive, and it shouldn’t have a headphone connector either. When we made iPhone 6 and 6s, the world wasn’t ready for the future. Now, it is. Apple Plug is the perfect solution. Fill in your archaic headphone connector with beautiful aluminium and plug yourself into the future.

Worst still in my book they seem to have worked out a way to bork after-market cables – we bought some great, good quality robust longer cables in work so we can connect them to PCs on the floor and have them on our desks – they worked faultlessly for months – then we started to get these messages “this cable may not work correctly” or words to that effect, then as if by magic they stop working. Supposedly they’re broken, but if you use them with another Apple device they magically work again, for a few weeks anyway.

The cables must have been non MFi hence the message. There is a constant battle with the Chinese factories trying to crack the chips in Lightning cables that do a handshake verification with the iPhone each time you plug it in. In the past each time Apple did an iOS update they barred the latest crack. They seem to have gone through a phase of not doing this, but I assume it will start again. They seems to crack down on counterfeit parts everytime they release a new Lightning product.

Many people do not see the difference between an Apple approved cable and a cheap one that they buy on eBay. So when you hear these stories of cables catching fire, Apple get the flack even when it is a cheap copy cable. We make MFI cables and can’t even change the colour of a cable or wording on the packaging without having to get Apple approval.

However you don’t get this problem so much with Micro USB cables so I think the problem comes from factories having to spend loads on trying to crack and make copy Lighting cables. To keep the costs down they then cut corners and of course have to source parts from slightly unreputable companies that are happy to make and sell hooky products. Just imagine if a company tried to make and sell counterfeit Lighting connectors in the UK. They wouldn’t last 2 minutes before Apple sued them.

Your are now getting copy Lightning connectors that can be reprogrammed on the fly with the latest crack codes, therefore removing the issue of retailers having warehouses of cables that no longer work after Apple do a software update.

Lightning equipped parts are a real money spinner for Apple as the parts costs are massive compared to non Lighting cables. If you also want to use the logo, “Made for Apple” then the license costs are huge.

I have a VW T5 van with auto and love it. Economy is still really good and brilliant for town driving. I would certainly buy another. In the days of now trying to drive safely and efficiently a manual is just a hassle. Its not like I ever rant a car or van nowadays where a manual would be better. I actually also prefer to drive diesel car as I think they feel better. What does that say about me, I like diesel autos!! Is this something I should be worried about?

Regarding the Apple Upgrade Program, I can’t quite work out if it is a good deal or not as I think it is just some clever marketing spin. Basically at the lowest level you have to buy the £599 iPhone and £119 for apple care. You then pay £49 upfront and sign a 20 month del at £33. After 11 months you can upgrade but all that means is that you hand the phone back and sign a new 20 month agreement and pay the £49 upfront fee again. You don’t seem to get anything for free and it just locks you in to Apple as if you upgrade each time at best you always owe Apple 9 months of payments.

If you have the cash could you not just do the same by financing it yourself out of say savings and then selling your phone back to Apple each year. For instance my 2 yr old iPhone 6 they are offering to buy for £236. How is the upgrade program any better?

Also why the 11 months and 20 months, as iPhones are upgraded every 12 months. There has to be some thing here that benefits Apple.

Am I reading all this wrong and it is actually a good deal.

I remember once sitting in a cafe in a town just outside of Washington. 3 young lads around 18 – 20yrs old came and sat down behind me. One of them swore in a mild way like saying damn or something and the other 2 just ripped him apart for being so rude. Really gave him a telling off. I just couldn’t believe it.

We have a T5 with a rock and roll bed that is pretty uncomfortable on its own. I am am currently hunting for the best thing to make it more comfortable especially for long trips when we are away for a few weeks.

Currently tried a cheap self inflating mattresses, but that only made it marginally better. Also tried a Ikea foam topper but that actually made it worse.

I am now thinking that to get it like our normal bed you actually need quite a bit of thickness to sink into when you lie down. Tried a memory foam type mattress at my brothers house that was around 60 -70mm thick and that seemed really comfortable. Only problem was that it doesn’t pack up small and is really heavy.

So interested to see what others think.

The great thing about Glastonbury is it is exactly as you imagine it and as it should be. Choc fully of hypies. Not many places are exactly as you imagine it would be without the corporate take over.

Bit of a hassle to use really as you spend more time trying to find a stream that actually works and the picture quality isn’t terrible. Let alone trying to find an english version. Gave up trying to catch the latest Borne film.

My view is that many of the TV stations and studios are bringing this onto themselves by not making content more easily available. We were catching up on Game of Thrones and paid for a NOW TV pass to watch all the series. Got to the latest series and they had all the episodes apart from episode 1 which sky had decided to take off as it was over something like 3 months old. Complained to Sky and their response was ” Well you can start from episode 2″ So they had every episode from every series apart from episode 1 or series 6!! Brilliant.

What did we do to watch episode 1, thats right got a Kodi.

However I am happy to pay for films and programmes but only if they are actually available.

I don’t see any reason why it would be a problem. Any glue could certainly just come off with some alchhol, etc as the screen are quite tough

The only issue is whether the screen detect the tape as a touch. If it does then it might start playing silly buggers. If you put some fabric or paper under the tape then you should be fine. Maybe some masking tape.

Not site specific and running on 2.4ghz. The 2 machines are sitting right beside each other

Well I never knew you could alt-click the wifi icon.

Here are results form my Mac mini that is working fine and the Macbook. Clearly see the transfer speed is massively different.

Im using a 12″ Macbook so 1yr old and no network port to test a wired connection.
It is running the latest OS, actually it is running macOS Sierra.
    It is on BT broadband.
In the country so no other networks apart from some BT wifi home plugs, might try turning these off.
Loads of room on the hard drive 20+gb
Browser doesn’t make any difference as does logging in under a guest account.
I’ll try turning everything with wifi off to see if there is some interference.

What the others have said +

If you like fishing go to either Chew or Blagdon lakes.

Weston has improved quite a lot over the years and is actually now quite pleasant in a tourist kind of way.

    Helicopter museam

Looks like there is some stock car / banger racing going on at the Mendip Raceway (top of Cheddar Gorge) http://mendipsraceway.com/race-dates/2016-race-dates.html

Noahs Ark is a good zoo with some massive animals
    http://www.noahsarkzoofarm.co.uk

    Skiing at: http://mendipsnowsport.co.uk

Actually the ski centre looks like they can sort you out for a ton of activities.

Then you also have walking at:
    Ebor Gorge
    Crooks Peak
    Priddy Ponds

Really all depends on what kind of thing you want to do.

The caves are expensive but they are pretty impressive. Wooky is probably the best value as after the caves there are lots of other attractions.

Flatiron – I agree that in the shop it is a hard sell for them to actually play by the law, but I have used this with Apple and they fixed my Macbook. I have given up arguing in shops about warranty / refunds and just go straight to head office by phone and then letter if that does not work. You always seem to get better service than arguing in a shop until you are blue in the face. Also amazing how well Twitter works for putting a complaint in.
