The main problem is that if you clear coat powder over the decals then the high temp usually damages the decals.

Vinyl decals are ok but not massively durable unless you get them printed on clear vinyl and then have large panel, like what they have on fork legs. This would be a good solution and probably cheaper than getting a clear coat 2 pack sprayed over the powder.

There are a few other options that are decals specifically designed for powder but at the moment you have to get them printed in large batches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBZ3YbB5cIM

Just bought an HP Envy 5640. So far seems great. Connected to Wifi with ease and prints directly without any issue from my iPhone, holds both A4 and photo paper at the same time. It even orders new ink when needed with HP’s Instant Ink programme that only costs £1.99 per month. Sick of unofficial ink that looks crap, runs out quickly and constantly seems to error in printers. Decided to go down the genuine ink route and this seems a great price.

One bit of advice, never buy a wireless printer that doesn’t have a screen. The way they connect to wifi never seems to work and without a screen and input of some type you can’t just type in your wifi password.

I think people are right that as the numbers have increased then quality has dropped a bit which is to be expected. But for me Apple products have always been about simplicity and ease of use. However they now seem to be taking that to the next level and things have just started to get complicated as they have dumbed down things so much. Using iMovie today and just found out that they have removed the function to allow you to produce movies in different formats in the latest version, why?

Also can’t use iCloud drive as a replacement for Dropbox for syncing between home and work computers as there is no indicator to show all files are upto date. According to Apple support there is no need with fast broadband, it all happens instantly and in a flash. However we don’t all have superfast fibre broadband so it doesn’t work! So end up paying for iCloud and Dropbox. Not great sums but just such a simple function that is lacking.

I think Apple live in a bubble and have started to forget the consumer.

I walked around a phone store for the first time in a long long time the other day as I was trying to kill some time. I have always had an iPhone for the last 4 or 5 years, but oh my god what choice and great designs there are out there on the Android and Windows market. Came away thinking my iPhone 6 looks so dull and really no excitement when you get an upgrade as ok the phone outer looks a bit different but nothing new and exciting about it. Where are all the new functions and toys to play with. Even though everything I run is Apple I am actually thinking of an Android phone next time just for a change in design and something new. Apple you are just a bit dull and nothing exciting.

Sounds like you have some contacts in the cloud and some on your phone. Whats annoying is that you can’t really tell where a contact is being held. It’s Apple and remember they think nothing will ever go wrong!! I ended up deleting all contacts from my phone and then sorting them out on my computer. When they were how I wanted them in iCloud I then switched on iCloud contacts on my phone and let them sync.

Bunch of nutters especially as they are called Oathkeepers. Just last night I was watching an episode of Game of Thrones where a sword was given the name Oathkeeper. Says it all really when they name themselves after Game of Thones. It really is only a matter of time until a ton of these guys go on some rampage. You really do have to wonder what would have to happen in the US before they changed their gun laws!

By not building a complete cable they get around the need for MFI certification. MFI certification is a total pain in the arse and take that from someone that develops MFI certified products. It also makes it a ton cheaper and far far quicker to manufacture. Lead-time on getting MFI certified connectors is ridiculously long.

Having to force the computer to change to another router / repeater is the bit I don’t want to have to do. When I go into the office they just have one network id that comes up and works throughout the building. No need to force the computer to look for another router with a better signal.

After moving in to new house we updated the bathroom and replaced the electric power shower with a mixer and ended up with no water flow at all. Even though we went with an expensive Mira mixer especially for low water pressure situations.

Then added a Showermate eco 2.0 bar shower pump and now have far far to much power. Drains the tank in no time and noisy but not to bad or as bad as I thought it would be.

At the same time in our downstairs bathroom we replaced an electric shower with a Mira Sport Max electric shower and it is very good with a really good flow rate. After spending a fortune on 2 bathrooms, If I was doing it again I would probably just put an Mira sport shower in the upstairs bathroom as well or I like the idea of Sharkbait and going with a unvented tank. Didn’t realise it was that cheap to do.

Currently looking at replacing the shower pump with a less powerful one so that the tank isn’t drained as quickly. Really don’t need the water flow that we currently have.

Thanks all. Shop recommended apply one hard wearing wood varnish, Dead flat finish. Heat resistant as it’s always guests that end up putting a coffee cup down and leaving a big ring mark. Finish looked good in the shop. Fingers crossed

14 years seems far far to long. Has it actually been proved that what he did caused actual material damage. I agree it’s fraud and a crime but 14 years. He would have probably got less if be our purposely ran over a cyclist and killed them. Also why 7 yrs in prison. He is not a threat to society. It’s like the phone hacking he will be the fall guy as the people higher up the ladder will get away with it. Rebecca Brooks and Andy Coulson not knowing about phone hacking yer right. If not they must be flaming idiots. Obvious to anyone reading their papers that the only way to have got a story was by bugging or phone hacking. The establishment elite will close ranks and protect themselves. Harsh sentence as they can’t let the plebs get out of hand. Like all the sentences after the riots a few years back. Redicously harsh and over the top as the masses can’t rock the block. Didn’t some bloke get 3yrs for stealing a bottle of water!

Will be fascinating to see what comes of the historical sex abuse enquiry and how the establishment deals with that.

It’s a race so they should race right up to the last day. Why do we need a celebration and parade on the last day, the TDF is each and every year. Personally I think mechanical issues are just part of it like crashes and bad weather. All of these things make the race more exciting. In downhill you don’t get competitors saying,”Oh his chain broke so we should all go again to make it fair and just about skill and fitness”.

None of the other teams seem to be able to get close to dominating like Sky do and this can be seen the huge time differences. TDF needs to get back to winning by seconds and one day the leader being smashed to bits and then for him to come back fitting the next day. Granted this happened far more in the days of doping but it made the race so much better.

Watched all of the last week and of course enjoyed it but really we all knew it was a done deal and Froome was going to win. When you are 90% certain who is going to win it just becomes a bit dull.

    woody74

Sorry to say but it has all just got a bit dull for me. Since Sky came along gone are the days of the leader changing everyday. Sky’s tactics are just to good at controlling the race and the other teams just haven’t worked out how to change yet. It’s is getting to much like formula 1 where who ever has the pole ends up winning. With TDF if Sky have the yellow at the end of the first week then the race is almost over.

I have always thought it stupid that they don’t challenge the Yellow jersey on the last day and it showed perfectly yesterday. With Froome having to stop and change his bike when the bag got caught in his rear wheel, this could have been a perfect to produce a really chase and thrilling end stage.

I really don’t understand why the other teams are struggling with Sky so much. Its not like they have a whole team packed with the best riders

All seems a lot of hassle just for food. Why not just get it delivered. Spend less time shopping and more time out cycling. Cant think of anything I would like to do less than go back to the weekly supermarket shop.

When George Osborne first came to power I would agree he was slimey but he has somehow grown on me
The worst was Ed Balls. When I heard he lost his seat I certainly thought, thank god for that. Only a few people in the world I detest.

Steve Wright or Ken Bruce, god help me. If there was ever a radio station that needs a change it is Radio 2. If your past Radio 1 not really into sport (Radio 5) or northerners talking about 90’s music (Radio 6) then you are stuffed.

Seems fair to me that if you can afford a new car then you can afford to pay road tax. It was always going to have to be revised as more and more cars became exempt. It just wasn’t sustainable.

Good news that they will actually spend money on the roads. Lots more tax should be locked to spending like this. People might not actually mind paying it then.

Why do you think they were reduced to £150? They probably knew they had an issue with this batch so are selling them off cheap.

If you are not happy send it back under the distance selling rules. If they don’t play ball then have a chat to your credit card company and put a claim in.

I do however agree that Planet X should have a solution such as sending out free shims. It’s not like they are expensive.

I should also say that I have completely smashed helmets both off road and on road with no fault of others and either as pure accident or my own fault. When I think back, if I didn’t have a helmet on I think I would be in a sorry sorry state now. When I broke my collar bone at Cwn Carn my helmet was decimated. That would have proper smarted.

We all know that in Holland and the like they don’t wear helmets but do you think some of this is to do with the types of bikes they ride. Whenever you see pictures they are always riding the classic dutch bike that doesn’t have a top tube. This is not really a speed daemon and is far easier to mount and dismount without falling off. The majority of times I have come off my bike when commuting is mud, wet leaves, oil, going to fast, etc and not anything to do with cars. Just wondering if you ride a type of bike which you can’t go as fast on, is a more sit up and beg design and is easier to jump off, does this reduce the amount of times you fall off and therefore need a helmet. In the UK you hardly ever see these types of bikes. Is the danger with cycling on the roads all to do with cars or is it the types of bikes we ride?

Well if the councils don’t have enough money then put the bloody council tax up. Don’t just cut services and make us pay for everything else. However you do have to question how the council spend money. In Somerset in the last month the council has resurfaced two roads that had perfectly good tarmac on them. One of them I ride to work over and the other is outside my parent house. Both took days and days to do so not some small job with full road closures and tons of workmen. Must have cost a fortune and for what I can see, no reason.

My parents house is opposite a dead end road that has about 5 on it. One poor guy had to sit at the end of road for 4 straight days to stop anyone trying to drive onto the main road whilst they were resurfacing it. Even though they had full barriers closing off the road and everyone knew the road was closed. Absolute waste of time and I don’t think he had to do anything for 4 full days. Worst of all he was working for a private company so not only was my council tax paying for him but also paying profit to a private company!!!

    Argh!!!!

And this is the same council that say they don’t have enough money for essential services!!! Rant, rant

Councils often seem to forget we PAY council tax!!!

Wanted to drop a small bag of rubble off at the tip. That will be £8 please. What, so I can dump as much green waste, wood, metal, non recyclable rubbish as I want but I have to pay for a small bag of rubble.

Should be one or the other not bizarre setup we currently have. Personally I don’t mind the idea of the shops being closed as maybe for the good of the nation it would be a good thing. Then again it gets complicated as should it also mean that petrol stations, pubs, etc, etc should also be closed?

Maybe the rule should be that everything is open and all days are classed as the same but employees must have at least 1 day off a week.

I do sometimes think that the individual does not always know best and we do need to be told what is best for us. Maybe it would make the nation happier. We as a nation don’t have to be part of the race to the highest level of commercialisation.

Personally I disagree with you claiming for something like this as shit happens and those steps don’t look bad to me. However there is an argument to say large corporations pay property maintenance firms to monitor their shops / land so should they not pickup things like this. I can see that it is annoying that once reported they have done nothing about it.
I would say that is more of an issue.

On to your question if you want to claim just google accident claim and go with one of the big boys. This is what we did when my wife was hurt in hospital. All we wanted to do was for the hospital to investigate, change or fix their building maintenance procedure so no one else got burnt. Wife collapsed and fell on a boiling hot radiator for only a few seconds. Massive burn on her back and all the nurses agreed radiator was dangerous. Anyway if the building maintenance team had fixed the problem and hospital offered for my wife to see a burns doctor for advice / treatment then we would be happy. Case closed as shit happens. Anyway their attitude stunk so we decided to take it further to try and get change. Went with a big claims firm who were good, but the funny thing was we made it clear to the hospital and claim firm we were not after money but the hospital was so poor at replying to letters and doing anything that they ended up missing all agreed deadlines and paid out £2k. Bloody ridiculous waste of money. It seems the minute you put a complaint in they treat it like a full legal matter and no common sense comes into it. They forget just a simple apology will sort many issues out. In the end it turns out they fixed the problem radiators in the ward and probably spent less on them than the cost of lawyers. If they had done this within a few weeks of the wife being hurt then all would have been fine.

For your situation I would put a complaint in to head office not the store and write to the chief exec as they all have complaint teams and you get faster service. If they do nothing then threaten legal action and reporting to the council unless they fix the steps. Putting a legal compensation claim in is a hassle but I do agree it is sometimes needed to get change.

My argument is that there should be a long term government plan on how the country should look be structured in 5/10/20yrs but if the government wants to have private companies owning and running the airports then they should deb allowed to get on with it. If they put in the planning applications and build too many runways and then have over capacity then it is their problem. Like the railways, why the hell does the government allow private firms and then we the tax payer pays for the rolling stock. If it is going to be private have a regulator but then let the companies get on with it and take full responsibility. If National Grid can be a private company then why can’t Railtrack. We just seem to have a dogs dinner of a setup and too many things being caught up in party politics and not sensible long term thinking and planning

    woody74
    Full Member

Both Heathrow and Gatwick are privately owned so why does the government need to get involved. Let them both apply for planning permission in the normal way and see what happens. Each should be looked at individually and allowed to go ahead if it passes the planning rules. Granted the government might be needed to approve planning permission but I don’t see why it should be one or the other.

Personally I think they should allow the building of a brand new airport somewhere in the same region as Heathrow but where the main flight path in right across the centre of London and the associated air pollution. I agree that more flights should be from airports further north and not all centred around London but we do have to accept that this country and establishment are all completely London centric and just don’t think realises anyone (the majority of the population) actual live outside of the M25!!

What I find more annoying is that we never seem to have a long term, say 20yr, fully integrated plan for the country and how we might want it changed or structured. For the life of me I don’t understand why we don’t have along term plan to move business and people out of the south east, especially as the population is constantly increasing.

If you can get Virgin then this will be the fastest and cheapest nearly always. I found when we moved last year to a house where we could not get Virgin that Talk Talk is a ton cheaper then BT and they offer the Youview box as well. Unless you get Virgin just don’t expect to be connected quickly with any of them. It took us a month to get connected even though the house had a working BT phone line. Bloody ridiculous!!

2 years ago I noticed that my passport had expired a couple of days before our holiday, mid July. Went to the Newport passport office prepared for massive queues and a nightmare experience. How wrong could I be, no queues, slick operation, friendly staff, in and out within 5 minutes, had to wait 2 hours for them to print the passport and then 5 minutes to pick it up. I came away utterly shocked at how good the service.

With both fracking and wind farms Im not sure why they don’t just offer to give away free energy to local households. If you gave people free electricity and gas within the local area I bet most opposition would vanish overnight. You might even find you get areas that want you to build a wind farm!!

I don’t think a bike should cost a fortune, £350ish is a good starting point for sure. I would totally agree that you can get some half decent for that amount. What is bad is that if the average is £233 and think how much we all spend on bikes then this actually pushes the figures up. If you took out all bikes over say £1000 the average price of bike would be far worse.

I find it depressing that people just see bikes as throw away items and not something of a long term investment.

Whitestone – That is interesting. I know you can get some cables that are setup to work just for charging and not data transfer. The aim is for them to charge the device quicker.

I started off with an Anker battery and it fitted well but I then found a waterproof power bank so I really can just fit and forget.

Well after bit of fettling on the lathe I came up with this as a solution. Power bank fits nicely in the steerer tube and best of all as I had to take out the expander plug there is only a net increase in weight of 18g. It’s all fully waterproof so now just need to keep a short cable in my saddle bag. Pretty pleased with the overall stealth look.

I do have a Garmin GPS watch sitting in a drawer somewhere but it needed charging everyday and always seemed to be out of juice when I needed it. Don’t really want to spend another £70 on a Garmin bike computer when my iPhone does everything I need especially with the Strava app.

Looks like a Anker power bank might be the way to go and maybe a session on the lathe to fashion something up to fit it in the steerer tube.

Yup I run Windows on a Mac Mini with 16gb Ram as my main work computer. I use Parallels and it works fine even when I have both operating systems running at the same time and are jumping back and forth between the two.

Dual boot would be better as you are not then running 2 systems at the same time.

Off the top of my head I can’t see any issues
