There are opportunities for individuals to progress from Intermediate Level, to Advanced Level up to Higher Level (degree equivalent). As for duration they can vary from 12 months up to 4 years (usually more technical roles). Pay is an issue, I’ve worked in training for 10 years and always advised employers to pay more and it is up to them what they pay – some do pay the bear minimum but then some do pay a lot more. My nephew is 16 and has just started an Electrical Apprenticeship (with a well known multinational food manufacturer) starting salary £16,000 – not bad for a 16 year old.

Another vote for the Royal Oak at Hurdlow also the Bulls Head at Monyash is ok. The Royal Oak would be my first choice though

218m in the Peak District – does this mean I’ll have to take the MIL in as she is at 115m?

Watch out for Jarah sleepers – they are a swine to cut. Wouldn’t it be easier to get new tanalised timbers from a saw mill cut to right length. Old railway sleepers do have a lot of nasty chemicals in / on them

I had mine done in December 2013, same as teenrat. Walking same day, driving after two weeks and on the bike at around five weeks. Still get the odd twinge, but the knee does seem a lot freer.

One of the tests for being employed (where the “employer” believes that you are self employed) is does the employer provide you with all the equipment / leads etc, if they do then it is likely you are employed and eligible for the entitlements of an employed person – holiday pay etc

I wonder how many disabled ramblers on trampers actually use Chapelgate or the Long Causeway?

I got caught 37 mph in a 30 mph zone, I think up to 42 mph you can go on a speed awareness.

Should I ask when the camera was last calibrated or take it on the chin?

We have been to the Al Maha Conservation Reserve in Dubai, middle of the desert own personal plunge pool, another alternative is Zighy Bay in Oman – they have mountain bikes! Mrs W likes the Maldives and we have been Thudufushi and Athuruga. If you go to the Maldives don’t bother with the water bungalows, it is worth having the seaplane transfers
Flew with Emirates for all of these holidays

We’ve 6 inches at Middleton By Youlgrave, friends at Flagg have a good 8 inches. Sadly the roads are like skating rinks at the moment, it has given it warming up on NYD. Buxton does have its own climate though. Check http://www.buxtonweather.co.uk

There is another slight alternative to h4muf route is to continue on the Monsal Trail to the Coombs Road viaduct follow the bridleway through woodland and fields which brings you out onto the A6 north of Haddon Hall head on A6 to Hadon Hall and there is Bridleway near the car park to Youlgrave

There is a cheat (I’ve thought about trying it myself). Start at Bakewell, Monsal Trail South to Haddon Hall, Bridleway to Rowsley. A naughty bit on a concessionary footpath from the Grouse and Claret to Peak Rail at Rowsley South, steam train to Matlock, East Midland Trains Matlock to Duffield, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Duffield to Wirksworth. Then High Peak Trail to past Hurdlow, over to Monsal Trail at Blackwell Mill then South to Bakewell
