A few weeks I was on that section of The M1 at about 2.00am and the overhead matrix signs indicated on-coming vehicles and an advisory speed limit of 20mph, there was no sign of any vehicles and as you got to J24 is was back to 70mph

The Thorntree is an excellent pub, but it is at the top of Matlock up Bank Road http://www.thorntreeatmatlock.co.uk/

The are plenty of Pubs in Matlock Bath – but the illuminations are on so it will be busy; the County and Station or the Fishpound are OK. There are plenty of curry houses, the Matlock Bath Balti (next to the County and Station) had a good reputation (I haven’t been there for years though) . There are a number of pubs in Wirkswoth which is close to Carsington

I live in the Derbyshire Dales – will I be arrested if I’ve got Worcestershire Sauce in the cupboard rather than Hendersons Relish?

We’ve picked our Sloes, there seems to be a good harvest this year (in the Peak District). We’ll be using Aldi’s London Dry Gin – £9.99 a 70cl bottle

Simmy – between the lead group and the peloton there was a 20 minute gap and in that gap there were vans / bikes / cars going up and down Beeley Bar which I thought would be an accident waiting to happen. Very odd!

Endurogangster – that is an interesting point, who would pay for the damage? As the road is closed does the owner (of the car) accept that the organisers / cyclists cannot be held liable for any damage etc. I used co-drive on forest stage rallies and I know there were various disclaimers by the organisers stating that they could no be held liable for death, injury or damage on tickets that were sold to the public / or at the entrance to the stages.

Not in Matlock – try the Royal Oak at Hurdlow or Barringtons at Darley Dale which is more like a pub with rooms.

    http://www.barringtonspub.co.uk/

Despite it being a tourist town Matlock has few hotels

    Another possibility is Darwin Forest

Yep – apart from the embarrassment of having various tests done etc I had mine done when I was about 45. No problems except that you cannot excited for a few days after the op (if you know what I mean)

I’m 50 now – between my 40th and my 50th I had my own parking space at the hospital roughly every two years I was having an operation or being admitted because of an OTB incident.

In fairness I am probably fitter but recovery time is increasing especially from a night out with the boys

An alleged arm robbery, oddly enough despite armed police, police helicopter etc. no one was ever found or charged. Police told the victim not to give any press statements (which he did), victim claimed the robbers took his rent payment of £4k – strange he only paid a peppercorn rent of £50 per month

The police quietly dropped the case

It could be between 5 days to 14 days before the decision is published.
