There are two things in this world that you’ll never understand one is the scent of a fox and the other is the mind of a woman

How about this one – http://www.losehillhouse.co.uk/ – it is probably just over the hour from Derby. Located in the Hope – so you have got all the trails around Ladybower etc. I haven’t been myself but I have heard good reports

Bizarrely the bin men had stopped in Rowsley and were waiting with phones (and cameras) to record the sight for prosperity

Two other people suggested it was Noël. It was a bit of a shock to see this at 7.40am

Assuming that he isn’t on an Apprenticeship then he should be entitled to the National Minimum Wage which for an 18 to 20 year old is £5.03 per hour as a minimum; however other conditions / terms are vague. It would be worth taking proper legal advice from Citizens Advice Bureau, ACAS or a solicitor. It does seem a very one sided contract

I was thinking of parking on the Strines / Mortimer Road and then walking towards Midhopestones area, not sure if the Strines will be open though – unless anyone knows any different

There was a route in Singlettrack (issue 89) that started in Bakewell, otherwise routes in the two Vertebrate Publishing books – White Peak Mountain Biking and Peak District Mountain Biking

Has anyone had any experience of getting a refund from E.On – we appear to be £600 in credit, this should be in my bank account rather than there’s.

I’m not an expert but would the fare with Easyjet (or who ever) be cheaper if you booked it via the airlines local website rather than via their UK site. I.e in UK but book flight their German website.

We have a courtyard garden – horrible concrete. Ten sacks of sand some fake grass and it looks really good, since laying it last spring we have used the courtyard (ok backyard) more than in the previous ten years

Riber Zoo has been closed for quite a while ago. Darwin Forest on the moors above Darley Dale is good place to stay (make sure that lock your bikes up as one was nicked a few weeks ago) – about 10 mins from Chesterfield has indoor play area and a fitness centre. There a few interesting routes that you can join plus there is a farm park a matter of a few minutes away, ideal for Matlock, Chesvegas, Chatsworth, Haddon, Bakewell, Peak Rail etc

According to the Evening Standard the athletes village has got 17,000 residents, so that might be a bit of an issue. I would have that the World Cup may be more of a pressing issue

I drilled through a gas pipe in our kitchen, was quite pleased as it wasn’t the water pipe as I could have been electrocuted – the gas fitter found it quite amusing, unlike Mrs W.

Not one of our DIY bodges – the taps on our bath were live due to bad earth
