  • Poll: How Much Fork Travel Do You Have?

If you wanted a little offroad, you could turn right off the A58 at the Westfield Pub, the follow the road for about a mile until you get to here, then bear right and follow it onto Wellands Lane which is a bridleway that’ll take you down into Cleckheaton.

When you get to the main road turn left, follow the road until you get to a major junction with traffic lights. Straight on and up the hill (Spen Lane) for a couple of miles, again you’ll get to a major junction with lights where you turn left. Follow the road for a mile or so, then bear right at the Shoulder of Mutton pub. Follow the road round and down, at the end turn right and go down to the entrance of Oakwell Hall.

You can ride up through the park, under the M62 and up to Drig bypass. Go over the bridge, to the road then bear left and follow the road to the main road and turn right – back on the A58 again.

Bit long winded maybe, but it’s a bit of fun if you’re not in a hurry one day! :-)

Edit: My link above doesn’t work for some reason – postcode bd196ew on multimap gets you to the right spot

Unless I’ve misread your post, it sounds like you’re going from nowt to a lot in a short space of time and consequently doing yourself a nasty. Take it easy, build up slowly and keep doing the exercises the physios give you. You might however have to accept that you have a little niggling pain for the rest of your life, but that’s the price you pay for using your body to it’s fullest extent :-)

Hang on, you’re right – it’s a small, long. I didn’t buy a complete bike, just frame/forks then built it up, so not sure about the wheels that come on the complete bike.

Yep, short ‘rat with MTB risers and a 110mm stem. Guess you could use drops, but you might have to use a v.long stem?

Cover it with polythene or fleece for a few days and hope the sun comes out :-)

Alternatively, plant in pots now then transfer to ground as seedlings?

Built mine with low rise MTB bars, done the road “thing” and didn’t really like the riding position of drops TBH. Does that help? :-)

I imagine it’s hard to put into laymans terms what must be one of the most technical “sports” in the world!

I bought some CX300s from Amazon for about £15, much better than the standard ones I got with my MP3 player

Leave a pound under your pillow along with a little note for the tooth fairy telling him which one to take out :-)

Alternatively – NHS direct will give you the emergency dentist number. DO NOT do it yourself, seriously.

You can grow baby salad leaves with not much room, just plant ’em then pick ’em not long afterwards!

Just got me an allotment, and after a few hard weekends clearing, digging and building raised beds, I’ve just started planting:

    Spud Patch
    Maris Piper (in)
    Desiree – chitting
    King Eds – chitting

    Bed 1
    Parsnips
    Carrots
    Beetroot
    Turnips

    Bed 2
    Onions
    Shallots
    Garlic
    Spring Onions
    Leeks

    Bed 3 (pending!)
Broccoli – purple sprouting and “regular”
    Peas
    French beans
    Courgettes
    Cauliflowers

    Fruit Bed
    Raspberries
    Gosseberries
    Blueberries
    Apple

Will be chucking some salad leaves in wherever there’s room :-)

It’s cost me a grand total of about £20 so far for the plants/seeds, and £30 for timber (old scaffolding boards) for the beds. Fingers crossed!

For 8 miles I wouldn’t bother with a drink, save a bit of weight that way :-)

I’d put some lights in there for a bit, just in case you fancy a longer ride home (in which case my drink comment would not apply!)

Don’t forget there’s likely to be a totally separate mechanism for collecting payments; so a computer took your money, a person probably dealt with the picking, then a person dealt with authorising the refund, then the banks keep hold of it whilst it “clears” – ie a computer transfers your money back again. Muppet indeed :-)

De-sensitization mate. At the risk of sounding heartless it has rather been shoved in our faces for a long time – sooner or later we’re bound to get used to it sadly. Things like the Baby P case are still uncommon and therefore shocking. Don’t worry, I feel the same :?

If you’re relatively computer savvy, you could try FreeNAS – http://www.freenas.org/

Where: Scholes nr Cleckheaton into Braford Centre via Wyke, Low Moor and Manchester Road, home the same way.
What: Roadrat with mudguards and seatpost rack
    When: Between 8.30 and 9am

A good idea, but a little unlikely to meet anyone I reckon :-)
