I wonder what world events/government b@lls-ups have been buried by the level of news coverage devoted to this staggeringly unimportant event + with the addition of that unbelievably rare phenomena (slap me with a kipper, I’m stunned) snow in winter, most other things seem to have paled into insignificance.

    Thanks for the info/offers.

I’ve gone for a 2.4 Moto RT wire which UK Bike Store is selling for £30.34 delivered, which seems like a bit of a bargain

    Cheers

andyh2 – Thanks for the pic. They look very similar in profile to the 2.1 City Slickers I have in the garage which were good except for the weight and white side-walls !

TBH I’m leaning towards something with a bit more offroad capability but the reviews on these are good.

I’ll let you know by lunchtime as I’ve been offered a pair of wire Moto RT’s but I’ll give it another couple of hours to see if any folding or 2.4’s turn up.

    Cheers

How big do they look on the bike ? Might be interested but I’ve been offered some Moto’s and think they may be better suited to the odd offroad foray.

How did you find them in various conditions ?

On the other hand, most people who are tragically struck down with this maintain their dignity and don’t sell their story to everyone who’s stupid enough to listen.

Maybe she’s just a mother trying to leave a bit of extra money for her kids?

….and as for your last 2 sentences – have you ever thought of setting up as a clairvoyant with such remarkable foresight

She may not be the brightest or most talented individual (I’m by no means a fan of hers) but she has done a fair amount for charity and I don’t think she has done anything which remotely justifiies some of the comments on here.

    Cheers gentlemen

They are going on a 2nd hand Kona Stuff I’ve just bought which is going to be a town/pub/hack bike and I’m in the happy position of having loads of options from A to B with converted railway lines, riverbanks + some dodgy tarmac. BTW does anything works on wet roots anyway ??

I had Conti doublefighters about 12 years ago and they were nice and quick but not too clever on the puncture front.

I’ll have a look at the other recommendations but really like the looks (big with same tread on edges for road cornering) and presumably good puncture resistance of the Moto’s.

Thanks for the comments, I’ll check out the other options :D

Has no-one in the whole ST massif used these ?

I think JN may be right

Having lusted after one of these for a while (luckily it’s too small for me too) I’m not even sure if they offer an ebb as an option but as a custom build I’m sure they will accommodate anything. This appears the only ‘standard’ option on their site

    Anyone ?

Also are the Moto 2.4’s really like balloons and does anyone have any (Moto’s or similar) they want to sell?

Have to agree with you. It’s a pain in the @rse having to wade through threads that are days old and have been bumped to the top constantly…..and there are a few regular offenders who consider their sale to be far more important than anyone elses…..b;@@dyu selfish I call it

Judging by the above you need one of these

Go out and enjoy youself (after taking the binding advice above). I would imagine if it is a normal field it will be quite difficult to gather much speed anyway…… video footage of the first few attempts would be good :D

…….what about fruit and veg ??

Modern XC skis have a different binding to old ones

They would have to be VERY old for that but just in case they are that old, or for Nordic, touring etc. a pic would help.

2 bikes built, MC Rumble and retro Marin + 2 frames waiting for parts to be hung on them and I have barely ridden any of them for a year + :(

Pic would be handy or name of skis and bindings. I would think that they will be quick release bindings and will fit modern boots without a problem if they are set for roughly the same size boot as you take. There is normally a bit of adjustment either way. If you do get them to fit, make sure the bindings are set low (screw adjustment front and back set to maybe 3 or 4 depending on your weight) so that you come out easily as I’ve seen too many knees knackered in very low speed fallls

Assuming you haven’t skied before, it will be a sharp and very tiring learning curve as the snow will probably be a wet and heavy. Not easy conditions even for an experienced skier.

    Have fun :D

There are several companies who would polish for you but the cost would be fairly high. If you want to go that route try the vintage motorbike restoration sites/mags.

Alternatively, doing it yourself would be much more satisfying and like paintjobs you get back what you put into it. Definitely strip the full frame and get the bearings out if you want to nitromors as it leaves a residue. Also invest in a proper set of polishing pads and the correct polishing compounds. There are loads on Ebay for under £20 specific to the frame material and you will get a much better finish.

Don’t even think about using just elbow grease, it will take forever and the finish not be as good

My thoughts too Joe. Don’t mind paying for the photos as they were professionally done, or the advertising for that matter (in the paper we wanted the ad placed)……but advertising boards !!!!! I think not when they are charging 1% for sole agency.

Thanks very much, that all makes sense.

The losses are potentially fairly large as their errors have potentially cost in the region of £60,000 as this is what the house has dropped in value since it was first put on the market, which was approximately 4 months before the market really slowed/slumped.

    Agreed re Kimberly

you then either let them go first or drop them.

He was short, fat and slow, yet proceeded to ride slowly off every set of lights, then catch up at the next set, weave to the front of the queue, and repeat

If you’re confident and ride properly in traffic the need to stop suddenly is not that common

Isn’t that PK’s point – very difficult to drop someone on that bit of road, the guy was wobbly, totally inconsiderate and dangerous so if PK had to stop suddenly he was probably going to have a bike parked up his @rse ?

I have ridden in London and can fully understand why PK-R was p!ssed off having to re-overtake time and again, then be tail-gated.

IMHO the brake check was fully justified, as would a swift decking the moment he grabbed his shoulder. It’s self defence.

cooking/cleaning/slaving for some middleclass tw*ts is not my idea of a great way to spend a few months.

Probably insulted pretty much everyone involved in the catering/hotel trade in that statement Ton + people like myself who would not regard themselves as slavemasters, middle class or ****ts. I work bl@@dy hard to afford a ski trip

Out of interest, have you ever been skiing/boarding or worked in a ski resort to qualify you to make that statement ?

Would apply for it myself but would need at least another £20 a week (I’m not a slave you know ) for having additional qualifications which may be useful to guests.

"unique" – it either is, or it isn’t

Also the repetition of a word/phrase/statement using slightly different vocabulary to empahasise a point. Very common with tv ‘personalities’ and those in the workplace who seem to think that we are too stupid to understand a single statement or beleive that their words of wisdom are so important that we have to hear them twice eg. xyz football manager has had his contract terminated, he has been sacked and it is believed he is now longer employed by xyz football club ……..grrrrr

Sadly yes – although entirely faithful to current partner for the duration (10 years) of our relationship she refuses to believe it !

Just turned 49 – only felt my age for the first time last year when I ripped my calf muscle skiing and it took a while to heal.

My missus (very soon to be ex-missus………seriously !) reckons I’m having a midlife crisis by mtb’ing, having a sports car, snowboarding, motorbike and chasing woman.

I’ve mtb’d for 15 years+, had sports cars/bikes for 33 years, snowboarded for 6 and chased women since puberty, so how can it possibly be a mid=life crisis.

Is you lodger from another country by any chance?

We have had a number of oriental students over the past few years and their bogroll use is prodigious ie. at least one roll per day. We ended up buying the cheapest we could find at the market.

Don’t get me started on their shower/washing routines……………and the sight of the last Hong Kong student coming down the stairs with a green face pack and hair removal cream on his chest will haunt me for some time 8O

I fell a couple of times on my ti456 due to my rear King sticking and dragging at the wrong moments

Wouldn’t that have been caused by your left hand subconsciously tightening to match your sphincter on slope of more than 1 in 20

By no means the most expensive but a Plowboy would be my frame choice in a ‘money no object’ custom build.

    Simple and lovely
