OP sex and race has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

It was a case against the army brought on the grounds of sexual and racial discrimination. Are you stupid ?

Nice one. They never learn though. My neighbours cat frequently sneaks into houses and nearly gave me a heart attack when I met her on the stairs one night, or rather I felt fur brush my leg in the pitch dark 8O

BTW PMSL @ the total overreaction of some on this thread

He is going to be one big handsome mutt.

Echo all that's been said above re firm/fair/pack leader. He'll be a handful but looks intelligent (if that's possible to tell from a pic?) and should be great fun.

Well done on giving him a home :D

Can I say Project, just for the record, you really are a special kind of dickhead aren't you

    +1

Shop choice is pretty limited at midnight or 4 in the morning on a 12 hour shift during which I get two 1/2 hour breaks. Even if there is a shop open it is not exactly healthy to live on take-aways or sandwiches + at least 15 minutes to go and get it makes this a non-starter. Not everyone works 9-5 in a city office you muppet

    Drac –

Did you watch the PPCI? It's absolutely brilliant, especially the relief on the face of the patient when the flow starts again. Obviously 1000 x better when it's your Dad getting the successful procedure:D

Sorry to here about your Dad and wish him all the best and a speedy recovery m8.

Agree with your comments re Freeman (James Cook is equally impressive), although my experience there tends to be limited to the cath labs. Very comforting to know he is in good hands.

You're lucky it's just the kitchen. We now have a rota where we are supposed to clean and wash the floors in the kitchen and locker room, floors and walls in sluice room + gents/ladies toilets then sign a sheet on the wall when you've done it. This in addition to cleaners supposedly doing the same thing 3 X weekly!

All this has to be done during any 'downtime' on station, with aprons and protective gloves to be worn, at the same time being expected to 'drop mops' immediately there is an emergency call.

    Not happy

Just finished the Love/Hate 29" wheel build with 35c tyres and took these before it got mucky  Loads of clearance and looks like it would take 40c + without a problem. Forks are On-One carbon 440mm for 26" wheel.

Utter, utter bollocks. Wealthier people simply have nicer clothes, better make-up, perhaps.

Utter, utter bollocks. Go to a riverside pub on a Sunday lunchtime in eg. Barnes and then go to one in Erith……………there is only so much that you can compensate with nice clothes and make-up!

6 weeks IIRC for me. No point in rushing it.

I drove 2 days after doing mine and 'forgot' while turning to park and heard a crack followed by serious pain and the most sweat I have ever produced !

If you enjoy it, no one gets hurt and you don't get caught by the cops then why wouldn't you?

I think you'll find, if you do some research, that cycle couriers and pedestrians have a very high incidence of 'getting hurt'.

LOL @ some people taking this thread seriously

No question that there is a direct correlation between looks and affluence. Well off blokes tend to marry/have children with good looking totty, as indeed good looking totty go for men with money in order to provide well for them and their offspring. It's the law of nature, therefore on balance, the better the area and the more 'up-market' supermarkets will see a higher proportion of attractive customers, and vice versa.

Drarse In answer to your question, I shop at Lidl and blend in quite nicely – nuff said  Their fruit and veg is excellent and I take a lot of satisfaction from buying naturally shaped produce as opposed to the perfectly round/straight offerings demanded by the 'posh' places.

Most of my shopping is done at the local Co-op, of which there are 2 in my small village. Amusingly, the one at my end is always cheaper than the one at the other, presumably because the other end has a new'ish private estate. I only found out this the other day when a well meaning individual told me that bottles of cider were on special at £0.75 at 'my' Co-op and they were £1.75 at the other. The fact that I was browsing the wine section for a robust red at the time seemed to entirely escape him. Still, it's the thought that counts

Lidl's great. I like nothing better than to ride my bike (smugly) in their gear knowing that it is just as good as the posers in the megabucks 'name' brands, all in the knowledge that it keeps young people in far off lands in gainful employment.

WK – probably an extreme example I agree but I have encountered it frequently in Durham which is also a magnet for arrogant d**heids, otherwise commonly known as students.

<note before flaming>sweeping generalisation above re students in Durham, most of whom are hardworking, studious types + I also used to work for a bike courier company in London<end note>

Agree with most of what you say re stereotyping WK. Problem is that when you have things like THIS (final 30 seconds particularly) which is brilliant entertainment BTW, is it any wonder you have articles like this.

Sounds to me like the cyclist was a total @rsehole and many of the points she makes are valid. Why are some people jumping to the defence of someone who appears to be in the wrong purely because they ride a bike?

    Reasonably well balanced article eg.

I know that there are lots of jolly polite and responsible cyclists who don’t behave this way. Apparently, I live with one.

The trouble with cyclists is that they feel (legitimately) like an aggrieved minority

Have none of you had this "There you are, strolling along thinking, “isn’t this nice”, when all of a sudden there’s a pinging bell (if you’re lucky), a whizzing and changing of gears and then a sweaty bloke in Tour de France-meets-Batman gear goes scything by you."- I have, frequently, and obviously I am VERY tolerant of cyclists but it still pissed me off big style so I'm not really surprised by the tone of her article.

Re TIA – I thought that a possibility initially (and as you say very limited info) but doesn't explain the rapid recovery followed by return of symptoms after jumping up and down, unless, of course, it was followed immediately by another. SFB mentions low BP, I wonder if the opposite is true ?

Good grief, some people are doom and gloom  The amount of time you spend 'typing away' it could well be something as simple as compressing a nerve or a just high speed 'anking accident.

Had a 'funny turn' about 15 years ago – for no apparent reason my brain would not communicate with my mouth and sentences came out with the correct words but in entirely random order. Went for a walk for 1/2 hour and returned to normal. Very weird.

    Good luck with the tests

Its more that she's not confident with the cars ability to cope with a given corner, whereas I drive anticipating the front to push wide on the entry and the back end to step out on the exit because I know thats what my car does.

I'm really struggling with that statement. Please tell me you (and your car) don't drive as that is written ? 8O

BTW on a public road you you shouldn't be driving "anywhere near the limit of the cars grip" !

    Woody

The missus, takes every corner slowly unless its on a route she normaly dirves in which case she knows how fast is safe from experience.

That sounds like a very dangerous way to drive ie. assuming road conditions/obstacles are going to be identical each time 8O

It's a difficult one this as some people who are potentially good drivers do stupid things purely because there is an examiner sitting next to them and they are trying too hard to do everything by the book instead of simply 'driving'.

Mudshark – have you been driven by your missus and if so did you feel safe? My job entails quite a bit of driving, often at speed and you develop a sense of what people are going to do. You can also spot a 'type' of driver with reasonable accuracy eg. doddery old bugger, pre-occupied mum with kids in car, boy racer and the worst category 'people who really shouldn't be behind the wheel at all'! Hopefully your wife doesn't fit any of those but after a lot of lessons and that number of fails I would start to question ability (as you are).

Maybe one of these 'intense' courses would be good to build confidence by driving a lot in a short period. Apart from anything else, it must be costing a fortune !

Tried my Love/Hate as a 69'er with 440mm fork (On-One as it happens) and it made the front end too slack. The geometry is much better kept as per originally designed head angle and with 29" wheels both ends it rides really nicely with road/cross tyres.

Genuine question, I've always been intrigued as to why people turn up if even they think it's not an emergency..

They've probably called 'single point access' for advice and been dragged in by the ambulance crew who received it as a 'Cat A'.
