I completely agree. There was a case not too long ago with a woman who sent a text or was overheard on the phone saying something similar in jest who got fined. I'll see if I can find some details.

There have been several well publicised convictions along the same lines ie. "I've got a gun/bomb, heehhee……..".

Utter, utter stupidity. No sympathy from me and especially not funny if you happen to be waiting for a plane when it has to be investigated.

With Hora's track record, if he used his Company's postal system it would take the fraud squad weeks to sort out and probably send his employer into liquidation

Hi Ogg, just spotted this and couldn't believe something else had gone wrong 8O I had never actually fitted them so wasn't aware of any problem but was going to suggest filing the corner off as advised above. I've had to do that a couple of times before but it is usually the rear mount that's been the problem.

Glad it's sorted out and enjoy the forks .

    I have one.

Much lighter than I thought it would be, so much so it's on my Pompino instead of the mtb it was bought for. Easy adjustment and nice and secure with the double clamp bolts.

Came off my motorbike when I was a lad due to a farmer losing some of a load of barley on a 90deg bend. The police came along and were not happy with the farmer who agreed fairly sharpish to cover the cost of my bike repair (I wasn't hurt). No difference between leaving mud on the road and any other farm 'product'. It is a hazard !

I agree with the comments above re 'riding within your limits etc' but it is not always easy to see crap on the road surface, espacially when wet. There should have been a warning sign. It's the law, plain and simple.

I don't think that it would. Most of the parts are reasonable, although carbon chainrings would worry me a lot!

I love the weight weenies site but can only be bothered to check the weight of tyres.

I'd love a go on this just to see how much difference a truly light bike makes. 5878 gms or 13 lbs !

I want to like the mag but when I read it it makes me feel too much like the early middle age dad I am instead of a rad dude which I like to think I am……………….

That struck a chord and made me smile

Wow, just read this and only 2 comments to make.

Glad CG received some help and guidance.

Well done to JW for being very restrained when another 'professional' (although I suspect he is really an admin assistant who has read an ethics manual) called his judgemnent into question.

Most of those bikes would be deemed unsuitable for a trail centre nowadays, never mind DH.

Staright bars and skinny tyres, all that was missing was bar-ends. Awsome.

Hora – not being cynical, just that I would like more facts before reaching an opinion. I certainly don't think it was a Labour stunt as it would reflect rather badly on them that a family is living in apparent poverty having been here for most of their period of government.

Does anyone have a link to more info on the family?

There appears to be something wrong somewhere, when a mother and grandmother are both working at the treasury (albeit as cleaners) and yet the family have to live on lentils for a week.

First responders and Rapid response are 2 different things. First Responders, who can be based in remote areas as well as cities, may not carry much more than oxygen and are often members of the public with basic First Aid training. The idea is that it is better to get someone there asap who can offer some help and advise on the situation. They are not meant to replace qualified emergency staff.

allthegear – they don't have to but are lucky enough to get the opportunity. Ambulances tend to be required all night and it is rare nowadays to get any 'downtime'.

FuncyDunc – In my area and most of the country, Rapid Response cars are manned by a paramedic with a full range of drugs, equipment and a defibrillator.

It was always a requirement but there used to be a certain amount of discretion/common sense allowed, eg. at night, quiet country roads etc. but since one particular recent case, our directive is that lights and sirens have to be used at all times in emergencies. This means that from the moment the vehicle starts moving, to the time it stops, lights and sirens must be on.
If this was actually done, people living close to an ambulance or police station would have a nightmare + it wakes up firefighters on shared stations which upsets them

It's a cracking board. Did you kill the bindings? Unfortunately I only managed 3 days this year :(

You planning to take the Big Hit or have you something else now? I've only got hardtails at the mo' but keep threatening to build up the ugly old Trek DH. Then all I'll need is skill and some bottle

    See you soon.

Can someone send me a map ref to that 'shore stuff please. If it's where I think it is I can't believe I haven't come across it before.

jamesc – if you're coming to have Durham to have a go at those, give me a shout. Email in profile + you have/had my mobile number.

That's the great thing about the internet, a post which is not absolutely clear can be misinterpreted or distorted to suit the bias/viewpoint of the reader and lets face it, Ernie doesn't need much of an excuse to have a play on semantics.

It was late when I sent my original post but I did think my subsequent posts should have clarified what I actually meant.

I will be more careful next time

Ok Surfer, as you seem unable to grasp what I mean, let me add the words to my initial post which might make it clearer, even to you and Ernest……….

The thing that strikes me most about it is the fact he just sat there and did nothing for +/- 30 seconds while the girl was upset/sobbing and unable to continue with her speech……………………..

Does that clarify my statement or are you going to continue to be obtuse for the sake of it?

    Woody

    Surfer

………and your post proves that your ability to read and absorb information is very selective and limited.

Ernie took my initial post literally and I stand by what I said. He (Brown) sat and did nothing while the girl was unable to speak and his eventual 'comforting' was 'too little, too late' IMO

    "That was my opinion"

No it wasn't. It was a false comment.

You take things too literally old boy but you don't seem to understand the term 'my opinion'. The facts are that he sat squirming with embarrassment and rubbing his knees when a more compassionate person eg. the clergyman first (undoubtedly a paed using your criteria) and then 23 seconds later her teacher? went to her assistance quite naturally. He did not get off his chair at this point, which was what I was referring to. Those are facts, my opinion and take on when I first viewed the clip was as per my first post.

Ooh we have a Gordon fan.

Can't be bothered to argue with you, especially as you are rather quick (quite inappropriately) to use a paedophile analogy.

That was my opinion, if you don't like it I really don't care.

    Woody

I take it that you didn't bother watching the clip til the end then ?

Yes I did. Too little, too late and well after she had been comforted by loads of others.

    Woody

The thing that strikes me most about it is the fact he just sat there and did nothing – was he waiting for Mandy to go and comfort her? Great chance to demonstrate some compassion and show that he does have 'feelings', gone begging. Tony would have been straight in there with a hanky and flowers.

He really is a dour b@st@rd.

I've no time for people like that, male or female. Sounds like she bit off more than she (and/or the kids) could chew and she was looking for someone to take the blame for her own inadequacies.

You were going at a pace where you could stop in time, so what is the problem? I certainly wouldn't have placated her, in fact quite the opposite if she had been screaming at me.
