    Drac

I think they do, as I have recently been in one which is not only 'black-boxed' but also has cameras front, rear and inside the cab. There is some debate about whether these are allowed to be active, particularly re patient confidentiality, so no one has actually confirmed whether they are in use or not !

There was a previous thread on this and the instructions are that there is no 'driver discretion' regarding use of lights and sirens. They MUST be used at all times when the vehicle is enroute to an emergency ie. enroute to a patient or going to hospital. This was apparently a joint services decision after the Newcastle case which Drac referred to above.

I've just finished a 12 hour shift and I can tell you my head is bloody well ringing 😡

First link is from the USA, which isn't much of a surprise but can't find anything in the uk……yet!

The practise bit is easy as you are thinking about it. THE FALL happens when you are nice and relaxed and simply forget. I'd be very surprised if there is a single person on here who hasn't had the embarrassing moment.

Mine was cycling nonchalantly up the side of my local to the packed beer garden 😳

Weren't those designed for 80mm forks? I'm sure when you're on it and forks have 'sagged' it will be lovely. IIRC I had Quadra 21's, then upgraded to Judy DH's on my Team SL.

    Beautiful colour, fantastic bike.

I'm more than a tad envious.

I thought this was for fugly bikes………that Corratec is stunning and I would love those wheels without the tyres!

    Thanks for pointing that out

I'm definitely off out now that I've changed my bars, so I'll keep on theme and leave you with the only thing that springs to mind………..

In that case I'm not surprised that many of your colleagues only do private work and practices in 'better areas' do very well, as even the NHS work will be more profitable.

I occassionally question whether the £27 a month I pay for private cover is worth it…….until I work out the premiums paid against treatment costs and realise I am still about 3 years 'in credit' 😆

WOOODY you missed another chance to put forward a coherent argument

No point. This thread has already repeated itself several times and I made my viewpoint clear in agreeing with the post made by anokdale.

I think we'll manage without you.

I'm sure you will DD. Given some of the utter bollox spouted on this thread (with a few notable exceptions) I'll be glad to leave you to carry on with your 'worthwhile' contributions.

The protestors were only under threat once the para’s starting shooting with the guns not because they possessed them at the start…same thing with the IRA weapons only a threat if used.

Good God. <Shakes head in disbelief at the sheer idocy of that, and subsequent statements, and goes off muttering to self in direction of bike and countryside>

Have I read that right? Are you seriously saying that you get paid the same for 1 treatment ie. 1 filling, as you do for someone who needs 10 ?

If so, you really need to get someone to represent your professional body properly re fee negotiation.

I would respectfully suggest the same guys who negotiated the GP contract to be top of the list 😉

In the interest of fairness, my next door neighbour is a dentist and he lives in a very modest 2.5 bed mid-terrace for which he paid £160k………………..

…………………..which was a bargain compared to his chalet in Verbier and summer retreat in The Caymans

LOL @ Bristolbiker – uncannily accurate on all points 😆

Not much info on them I'm afraid but CLICKY HERE for some MTBR reviews and find out what a magnificent animal it is.

I've only built it up and ridden it once round the woods many years ago as I couldn't find a rear brake adaptor, but I can confirm it is the stiffest/plushest bike I have ridden…. and also the heaviest! I'm pretty sure it also has the blue on one side, white on the other.

I have a few days off at the end of the week and probably have enough bits lying around to build it up. I will also post a series of large pics unless I receive considerable donations via Paypal gift. Email in profile 8)

I think Woodys Trek is so ugly people are afraid to discuss it and are going off topic a bit.

Yes it is a Trek and was bloody expensive in it's day. It would have been easier and more aesthetically pleasing to weld a couple of girders together…in fact I think thats how they built the swinging-arm as it weighs about 12lbs on its own,

Back on topic – I have also recently acquired an ML8 😯

A mate of mine was airlifted from Glenshee many years ago and charged a couple of hundred pounds IIRC.

Sorry, but this is absolute bollocks.

You may be right……. it was late and after a long day when I posted 😉 It may have been an ordinary ambulance but I know he was definitely charged. I'll ask him next time I see him, which is about once every 6 years. We are talking 30+ years ago and why else would we have paid ski insurance – we all had our own gear?

Go on any firestation and check out how good the facilities are….Sports, tv room, sleeping quarters, chef etc. Then go spend a shift in the A&E department.

………………….or an ambulance station ! I think the chefs went a little while ago BTW 😕

The Air Ambulance in NE England used to be part of the ambulance service but was dropped and the running taken over by an ex-employee to run as a charity as it was not 'cost-effective'.

    Even in this country?

Yes. A mate of mine was airlifted from Glenshee many years ago and charged a couple of hundred pounds IIRC. A lot of money then and I don't suppose it has got cheaper. None of us were aware of this charge at the time but we all paid the 'day insurance' after that which was 50p at the time.

Does anyone know how these charges are calculated, what criteria is used, or even if they still exist ?

Chriiiist! Why does every thread have to have an argument?

Great pic(s) and glad CL is more or less ok 🙂 That could've been really nasty.

Seems to be more than usual on MTBR, it often gets booted off at work. Avast blocked a trojan from there tonight on my home laptop.

just wondering how it might have been with a decnt pair of 130 forks.

It was a pic of someone in France on a Compo IIRC on the PX/OO site doing a rocky descent/dropoff with Z150's that made me want one. I also have a pair of Nixons 145mm with bolt thru' axle sitting doing nothing………….

An unpleasant and sad story, nonetheless.

That's a bit of an understatement akin to saying Hitler was a naughty boy !

These people are nothing but f%*"!ng scum. I am sick to death of people who do these horrendous things being let off or having a very mild slap on the wrist.

I am still spitting tacks that a guy who virtually blinded someone I know with a bottle/glass (1/5th vision is best possible outcome) has been found not guilty by pleading 'self defence'. My mate was apparently helping up/sheilding his wife who had been knocked over by others fighting (they were not involved other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time) and had a broken bottle (or glass as the accussed alleges} shoved in his face. Apparently this constitutes self defence. 👿

Jeez – I'm sure I've got a vgc XTR DH chainring kicking about the garage somewhere. £26 anyone?

    Woody

I would say yes. Have a K&N cone filter on the MG and box filter on 2.0 Ford Zetec. Noticeable difference on the MG, performance and fuel wise (especially when combined with extractor manifold and big bore exhaust) and +1-2 mpg on the Ford with cleaner revving top end.

Worth it if that sort of thing is of interest but not as a cost saving exercise on filters.

The Armadillo raised the bar in the 'hit with an ugly stick' competition.

The carbon 456 has quite clearly jumped straight over it without a landing mat!

Still, if it rides well who cares…..and it's funny seeing the reactions

The England football team is one of the most popular throughout the world in my experience,

Not in my experience, which admittedly has been confined to Europe and N. America. English football and individual players yes, but as a team and including the 'fans', definitely no.

Jocks are universally adored. Everyone loves a good loser 😆

Stayed there a couple of times but it was quite a few years ago. As commented above, fairly standard hotel in a nice quiet location with a golf course.

Not been on a bike in 9 days right now (mainly due to illness), and feeling quite itchy to get back on one.

Hope you're feeling better soon m8 and manage to 'ride' to the post office 😉
