Not at work then Drac. Thought you might have been 'elsewhere' and left your mate to wander around for the cameras 🙂

how ever it consisted of 3 day tac ex and various ambush and re org scenarios

Get yourself up there man – they are crying out for experienced personnel like you. You can give them a quick rub down with a damp flannel when they come back all sweaty from the search. You're used to living under bridges by streams, aren't you, so you are the ideal man for the job?

Poor editorial decision – proving that some/most journalists are indeed scum.

At the same time 😆 @ Farmer Giles

Ideally how crazy would I need to be to get away with it?

As long as he puts his underpants on the head and sticks two pencils up his nose, that should be enough.

Oooops – brain not engaged but you obviously haven't read any of the posts saying which plan I'm on. Should have said it's only a max of 6 days without high GI and highly processed starcy/floury/sugary carbs….obviously 🙄

Bit 'touchy' this morning idave ?

You can feel the difference in how bloated you feel afterwards compared to rice

Noticed that after a curry last week with rice and nan bread. Felt uncomfortable for hours afterwards

i told him about this diet, and he told me it would be foolish to follow a diet with no carbs, even for a very short time.

Point is, it's only a max of 6 days without carbs and idave's is a 3 week plan.

I think the point is that you can use this to lose some weight quickly and then maintain or reduce weight further by eating sensibly. I definitely won't be going back to several slices of toast for breakfast, crisps and sandwiches during the day and mounds of pasta and rice in the evening. Strangely, I have no desire for chocolate any more. Wonder why ??

a Five frame, shock and regular seatpost, along with many other 140mm FS frames is lighter than that.

Ok, accepted. My point is that the issue is a sore arse and not being able to sit down. The Thudbuster will solve that for a small (considering the OP is obviously not a weight weenie otherwise he wouldn't have a 456) weight penalty including his wallet which will be approx. £900 heavier 😉

Save yourself a shedload of money and buy a Thudbuster. After a few miles you forget it's even there. There is a small weight penalty compared to a normal seatpost but still way less than going full sus. Fantastic piece of kit.

It's not a shiny new bike though, is it ? 😉

Feeling absolutely knackered on the bike (today), then heading for home and realising the wind is now behind you all the way.
The facial expression of a dog having a dump
Finding a bling bike part you forgot about in a drawer
The second run on a skiing/boarding holiday
    A bargain of any description
Finding something decent to watch on tv
    Lager and a hot chilli/curry
Getting a ghetto tubeless tyre to inflate 1st time with a track pump
    My life
Getting a txt from my daughter who is in Thailand at the moment
Seeing my dogs curled up asleep after a good walk

My Mother just called to tell me to lock my doors and windows as I'm not too far from his last whereabouts.

I pointed out that some of my neighbours make him look like Julian Clairey, which seemed to put her mind at rest…….

I think the police will take him down even if he so much as makes a gun shape with his fingers.

At least that will save the taxpayer some money after the £££££££ this must be costing in overtime.

Didn't see that but yes, I'm now pissed off at him as well !

In fact I'm pissed off generally today because my virtually new track pump has died and I'm having to pump up 2 sets of tyres with a micro pump which led to being distracted on here while trying to source a new one and I'm typing this instead of being out in the sun……..and now the wind has gone to gale force too 👿

I was a little taken aback at the size of it (58cm) but it does give me the position I want without too many spacers. I am more than a bit concerned however that the non-sloping crossbar provides a comfy resting place for the twins on stand-over ! Short legs, long body ysee.

Good article by Matt Chester on 63xc.com. It is a review but also gives advice on set-up etc.

I've set mine up as recommended by MC and it is very controllable and comfortable. Still playing about with bar/stem height, thus spacer city 😉

I just read that Cav didn't actually throw the helmet

As above, it was throwing the bike to the ground that pissed me off. Probably means someone will have to redo his bar tape to make it nice and smooth for the distraught prima donna.

Maybe the reason for his tantrum is something else…..he probably thinks no-one could beat him without some errrr………….dietary assistance possibly?

I HATE to see equipment being treated like that – used to drive me nuts when rock stars trashed guitars etc. and even worse Rob Warner chucking that lovely bike in the MBUK vid years ago.

If he's that upset why doesn't he go into a back room and flagellate himself with a rusty chain?

Childish, lacking in self-control/discipline, bad example, winning is the only thing that matters attitude……………….

We could do with a few more Brits like that 😉

Are people going nuts on their off days

Not quite going nuts but a large packet of chocolate digestives disappeared on my last 'off-day'. The key for me is to not have anything tempting in the house, which is fairly easy as I live alone. I also think that you get used to only eating certain things and cravings for the 'bad' stuff gradually disappear.

It should be my 'off-day' today but I'm going to hold back until Saturday as I'm going to Scotland and there is no way I'll be able to resist a black pudding supper + my Mother's cooking and I'll no doubt be forced to go to the pub with my old mates!

Not a problem though as I'll have a protein only day on Sunday to get things back on track and work off some of the excesses on my bike.

The first 3 days are a big shock to the system as it adjusts to the lack of carbs. This is why only moderate exercise ie. walking is recommended for the first 4 weeks of the plan I'm following. The combination of low carb and low to moderate intensity exercise is reckoned to be the most efficient way to preserve muscle and burn fat.

To quote "Walking also promotes the development of mitochondria, the body's fat burning furnaces"

There, that'll get Barnes scurrying off to Wiki 🙄

vinnyeh – good loss for the first week. It's about the same as I had and is due in part to fluid loss from reduced carb intake. It is however, very important psychologically and is a great boost to carry on.

4 weeks are up for me tomorrow morning (my plan is virtually the same as idaves) and I'll post up loss to date after I weigh myself when I get up.

Got to be honest though, chips, chocolate and all the other snack crap I can do without but I really miss rice and pasta. Roll on my 'free-day' on Saturday 😐

Not quite what you were looking for but as no-one else has posted……..

This was ok but realistically the stretch was too far on the drops to be comfy for any length of time. As the t/t is long on the Inbred it might be even more of a problem. I suppose you could get a smaller size frame but I guess it depends on how much 'head down – arse in the air' riding position you are happy with. I ended up buying a crosser 😉

Thanks for the info. I'm only visiting for a few days so sounds like it's worth a look. I've only ever done Scoltie on foot, so may well give that atry too as I've a mate who lives in Banchory.

Found this on the cyclegrampian site
"On offer is an 9 mile cycle trail round the 3 peaks of Cairn-mon-earn, Strathgyle and Mundernal with an optional spur to the top of Cairn-mon-earn. There is also a complex network of other forest roads and off-road MTB trails that provide some fine mountain biking for all tastes."

Trail_rat – originally from Aberdeen (Cults) but I've been away for a very long time now. I'm up fairly regulary as my parents are getting on a bit. I'll give you a shout next time and come and see your 'good work' – if you don't mind showing round an old fart that is LOL.

When we were going backwards and forward to the maternity unit I lost count of the amount of girls coming in on stretchers from ambulances.

Yeh and most of them are only in an ambulance because it's cheaper than a taxi 👿

third can take a bit longer than the second , however not as slow as a first.

LOL – a little while ago, young lady 1st baby, full term, contractions 6 mins apart, re-assured her it would be ages, 10 minutes later after another contraction she could 'feel something'……………..imagine my surprise and delight that the baby's head had appeared still 5 minutes from the hospital 😯
