I think the graphic there is genius – saves on ugly 'copter tape

Well I have just come off nightshift….. 😆

Being realistic rather than grumpy and I have offered advice! You have obviously put a bit of effort into the research side of this (considerably more than the OP by the sounds of it), as I did many years ago. My point is that questioning competitors is generally not the best business strategy, especially when that info is probably available from vendors with a simple email request.

If Tron has genuinely uncovered an exploitable area, good luck to him.

Edit – nice reposte tron ….but why do I get the impression that the first part of it is nearer to the truth 8)

So you have gone from 'dipping a toe' with minimal start up costs to realising that this isn't a viable strategy in the space of an hour!

Have you really thought this through or put any leg work into feasibility of the idea before posting on here?

Sounds like you wanted a business handed on a plate.

I don't want to be scathing but I have a fair amount of business experience (very nearly losing my shirt on several 'sure-fire' projects, which is one of the reasons I do what I do now) and much as I would hate to curb enthusiasm or entrepreneurial flair, I think it is fair to say that it doesn't take a genius to work out what it is that you are actually thinking of.

By all means ping me an email if you want some feedback. An open forum is not the place to do it.

Do you really expect people in the industry to supply you with information that they have gained through years of (costly) experience, so that you can potentially set up a competitor cycle import business?

At the moment, they key problem I can see is being lumbered with a load of bikes that aren't selling

    No shit Einstein 🙄

If you read the article it appears it definitely did.

I wish him well. The couple of negative comments above are quite pathetic 🙄

Nice easy way to check your fork oil level. I'm amazed you can see that much detail 'through' metal !

Music vids have been 'raunchy' for a very long time with certain rappers actually using the services of porn stars for 'realism'. Not a big deal as they are obviously aimed at young men/boys but the imagery, lyrics and how much they actually affect the decisions of kids of both sexes is debatable.

Certainly nothing new, look at the outcry and banning of Elvis Presley etc. and that was 50 years ago.

And parents cringing while watching tv with their kids is nothing new either. We (and they) all survive with the right guidance 😉

I'll defend her too, although I only caught the last 15 minutes of the cycling programme it seemed interesting and she presented professionally and with enthusiasm IMO.

She is good at her job and unlike many of her 'colleagues', who are nothing more than a pretty face who can read an autocue, has competed at her chosen sport to a high level.

IIRC the money can still be reversed even if it has been transferred out of the OP's a/c. Paypal then debit the registered card.

That's what he's concerned about. Bit late now the deal has been done !

Is it a lot of money? The reason I ask is you don't appear to have had anything really expensive for sale (from a quick glance at the classifieds) or indeed anything that would be cost effective to send to OZ even via The Netherlands.

    All seems a bit odd.

I quite often see the consequences of people who think they are hard. Some obviously are 'hard as …k' and were either outnumbered, unlucky or caught offguard and I pity whoever put them in the ambulance but………..

…….you wouldn't believe how many of them cry like little boys when they are out of sight of their mates/audience and want their Mum 😆

There must be a bit more to it than the story (possibly) but even so, there must be serious implications for store detectives and shopowners if they are potentially going to be sued when they stop a suspected shoplifter.

Morgan Freeman in The Shawshank redemption, closely followed by Richard Burton in Equus – both spellbinding

Also, dare I say Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse 😳

I wonder if he went along as an 'independant'?

I'm sure he'd have had a much better reception if he had said "Hello, I'm making a documentary for The BBC in which we are building a bike using only the finest components from the best manufacturers……..".

I bet he wouldn't have had to pay for most of the bits either !

    from Wiki

Tadhg is from the Irish language. The "adh" is a diphthong that is pronounced like the "i" in the English word "Tiger". The name is pronounced as if pronouncing "Tiger" and dropping the "er".

Look at the timing of your posts. When I posted, you had asked for a copy of the diet, then 4 days later you were on day 8.

It was an attempt at humour mixed with curiosity 🙄

As Allthegear has said, the only disappointing thing for me was the lack of seeing around the Campag and CK factories. Surely it would have been quite easy, with a little bit of planning, to have shown a bit more without jeopardising 'secrets' – or do they have something else to hide? Big as they are, I can't believe either company would pass up a golden marketing opportunity like that unless they had been given virtually no notice.

I have a feeling that there was a lot that had to be left on the cutting room floor to to fit into an hour and interest a wider audience. Maybe there could be an extended 'geek' version?

Still really enjoyed it though and I would like to see more from Mr Penn as his enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment of cycling is infectious and judging by the climb he did he's obviously bloody fit. I wonder if the Italians tried to drop him ?

I'm on a Trek Fuel EX, running Jones ACX pumped up enough to make the bead sit in the tubeless rim nicely (I'm guessing about 120psi).

PMSL – are they at that pressure specifically for bull (out)running? And I would change the bike, grazing cattle are notorious for their luddite nature, with gears and bounce literally having the same effect as a red rag 😉

Classic case of internet/not enough space or inclination to type all day!

My point was that the story could be true in as much as following what appeared to be a realtively minor incident, the subsequent infection and ? immobilisation ?sepsis/DVT/PE leading to ? actual cause of death was perfectly feasible. Whether a shard of carbon piercing a valve is possible, well…………………

I wouldn't worry about it too much though as Cynic-al has pointed out my gullibility and is of course much better qualified than yourself to give the definitive answer as he is a commercial lawyer IIRC 😆

The ads are timed to run at the same time on every channel for that very reason.

It's one of the reasons I now watch very little TV.

Whether Ians story is true or not (I suspect it is true), pulmonary embolism/DVT is not uncommon post trauma.

IanMunro has now convinced me never ever to even consider buying a carbon seatpost 😯

I've had 4 pairs of rigid carbon forks and never had the slightest problem with any of them but sold them as I just can't get rid of that nagging doubt. They were all aluminium steerers too. Carbon steerers, which I am currently 'considering' scare the crap out of me !

Agree they are dreadful. So dreadful, the first couple of times I saw them, I had to pay closer attention to see if I'd missed some hidden 'joke' or satirical genius. But no, they are just pure shite.

Edit – I wouldn't have remembered they were Halifax had you not mentioned it, so they even fail on that front.

Fork action that is described as buttery smooth…….I blame Marlon Brando 8) …..can't journos' find something else to describe how the bloody things work.

There appears to be no 'in-between' it's either buttery smooth or the other favourite, stiction 👿

worryingly, we use a bunkhouse not far from the Holy Loch that has surplus mattresses from the sub base on the bunk beds – I assume that means we're all carrying trace amounts of radioactive material on us

It's not the radioactive traces I'd be worried about !

LOL – still arguing about stuff that happened hundreds of years ago.

The US has been urged to boycott Scottish products and go to Ireland on holiday instead. Scotch Whisky exports to the US are worth £350 million a year. The UK is the biggest single importer of Jack Daniels so two can play at that game 😉

I like this pic of 2 protesters who are having a nice fun day out. I particularly like the camp wearing of the Tam O' Shanter and updating of traditional dress with a fetching shoulder bag.

If you think bikes are a rip-off, stay away from HIFI – far away!

You're not joking. A mate was telling me about a turntable they delivered a few years back – it took 4 of them to lift it into the guys house due to the 'anti-vibration housing'. It cost £23,000 !!!

Tend to agree about the inflated price of high-end kit (forks particularly) but lower down the food chain you can get a bike that rides immeasurably better than the equivalently priced (taking into account inflation) machine of 15 years ago.

It's a classic. I remember looking at one in Recycle way back but went for a Cannondale V2000 with a carbon swinging arm instead!

Definitely wouldn't be riding it until it was fixed, especially with those wheels 😯

That's correct. It's why Glucagon (given via injection in my job to treat hypoglycaemia in diabetics by converting glycogen stored in the liver into glucose) is often ineffective due to the body already having used up these stores.

Not noticed any 'performance' drop exactly but have felt very tired occassionally for no apparent reason. Hasn't happened while riding but a couple of times when out walking the dogs and some mornings I've felt absolutely knackered. This is exactly what was not supposed to happen as the plan is supposed to remove the spiking supposedly caused by carbs.

Perhaps I'm not eating enough of the 'good' stuff + several lapses hasn't helped? Still 15lbs lighter than when I started though 🙂

This unpalatable situation is caused by the recent financial crisis, and also by the fact that policemen are generally immoral.

WTF? How do you come to that conclusion?
