I’m not sure I recognise NLP in that description. ‘Anchoring’ would work with confidence, but that would take a whole different coaching session to biking, and you would need riding skills along side NLP, for it to do what you want. I’m not a ‘practitioner’ just read up on NLP recently. I would suggest you get yourself a basic book on the subject, read it yourself, and see if you can quickly apply any of the techniques to help your clients. I think it can help, but don’t think it’s as black and white as you may suggest, plus to apply it to each person would take a one on one approach, and they would need to want to learn it. Well, that’s my take, nothing ventured – nothing gained, have a read up on it.

How about reading a book on NLP Neuro Linguistic Programing, Waterstones have a selection – cheaper than a sports shrink!

I heard something similiar Adrian, and tried the time pedals, I must say I hated them – seemed to make things worse for me but, we are all different!

After exhaustive trying of pedals, I found that Shimano cleats, that were properly set up for me (slightly bandy legged) produced the best trouble free results.

I would have a good look at your set up, do you wear down your normal shoes to one side, is one area, and cycling shoes, I cannot use Shimano or regular Specialised, Sidi, as they have a bias built into the sole, which loads up my worn medial knee joint.

The position of the cleat, too far forward or back may cause a cramped or extended knee action – there are many possibilities, and in my experience it takes time if you excuse the pun, to find what is causing and is best for you.

I bought some Mavic shorts recently, the liner is super comfy and the shorts are nicely made too, with YKK zips – unlike the Endura trash of today.

Other than that SWOBO shorts, as soon as Stif get some more sizes in, I’ll get some, the liners are top notch!

There aren’t any routes as such, as most of the good stuff is tucked away deertrack that I’ve fettled, with my billhook axe! I’d be happy to show you around, drop me an email if you’re interested (my email in my profile). Can easily link the two forests (Tilgate and St len), I did a ride on Sunday for Brighton Mtb.org, have a look at the site, there is a report plus pics and video.

I live riding distance, so if any locals fancy an after work ride, now that the eve’s are light – email me.

I’ve bought some Swobo stuff from Stif, I find their cut is ‘athletic’, so if you’re not a whippet go a size up. Great short liners btw! as soon as they are back in stock I shall be ordering some more.

I think I’m just getting to grips with mid-life, and accepting it, the only regret is not meeting the right person to have children with. Pete aka Woodsman aged 43 and 3/4 years.

I’ve never really had a problem with it, some GF’S have wondered why I do it, most have been supportive, and liked the benfits of a fit BF! I even dated someone who was into MTB herself, that was good in most respects, but could be a double edged sword, missed the ‘me time with bike mates’ as I would ride with her on Sunday’s instead of the club scene, still that’s someone else’s (probably someone on here) double edged sword now.

How about just riding for one day when on holiday, make sure the other half has something they want to do at the same time?

Paceman – nope, BHF provide no navigation signs whatsover! You get a small map of the whole route. Best to practice the section from Ditchling Beacon to Eastbourne as preperation. We plan to do this 65 mile return, a few times for our c2c prep, you’re welcome to join us. Say hello over on the site I mentioned above, if you want to come along.

That’s quirky, I’m doing the coast to coast this year! With a mate from the brighton area, could be interested in some info there. There’s a link to what we plan to do over on the http://www.Brightonmtb.org site, perhaps you can give us some pointers…..?

I was riding in the general area last weekend, around Berwick and surrounding. It’s likely to be muddy, but then isn’t everywhere this time of year. I’d say just ride it, you’re going to get a bit muddy. 🙂

It may not be the bearings. I thought mine had worn a year ago, as I could rock the wheel in the frame and feel movement, where as a friend who has a newer hub couldn’t. I kicked up a bit of fuss as it was almost at the end of the warranty. Anyway, it went back to Rohloff, where they said the bearings were fine, but they replaced some nylon rollers, which they said had swelled/diformed due to solvent from power washing, I did that once, even though I knew I shouldn’t, but thought I was careful. They did say that they replaced the ‘driver bearings’ too, not the axle bearings. A year or so later and I can feel the movement again, if I rock the wheel from side to side in the frame, it doesn’t cause any issues and I remember Rohloff saying that it wouldn’t cause any problems, kind of normall or acceptable I think they desribed, amount of wear. The bearings and correct adhesive for want of a better word, are available from SJS Cycles website now, give them a call they may have a price for fitting.!?

I have my own car body business. We don’t use a colour chart as such, on each car, there is a colour code on the chassis plate, this code is then cross referenced to a formula in which to mix paint tinters to get the colour spot on. There are colour swatches, manufacturers of paint suppy these for quick reference. If you go to a paint suppliers, there will literally be thousands of colours to choose from.

The reason we don’t really use charts, is that paint has to be matched to manufacturers exactly, and normally just part of the car is repainted. A chart would only be of use for full resprays which is a rarity in the modern car body industry.

And even with full resparys, people usually stick to what should be on the car anyway, rather than chosing a complete colour change, which would mean spraying all the door shuts, boot interior etc etc!

Time! I’ve been suffering a bad cout of sciatica (prolapsed disc) since July. It was unbearable then I would have signed up for an op straight away, if one owas available. That was then, and gradually the pain decreases to a level that is tolerable. If it’s caused by a disc, then it takes 12 months to resolve. There are some good stretches, but depending on where the disc has bulged, best to get it right and see what the GP recommends.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, I feel pretty good now. I couldn’t imagine I would back in July. I couldn’t sit down, hardly walk even, now I’m 80% back to normal.

I used it on my N95 8GB, it ate the battery to the extent that I couldn’t make a call after two hours use on the trail. Plus it dropped the GPS signal regularly. Nice concept, get a proper GPS to avoid dissapointment is my my advice.

I had a similar thing Dez, with a Shimano skewer into an old Hope ti-glide rear hub. The Hope skewers are slightly thinner in diameter than the Shimano, which is why the problem occurs. I put it in a vice and tapped the skewer out of the hub spindle. Rebuilt the hub and bought some Hope ti skewers (old type). Not had it happen since.
