midlifecrashes – I did too, was it on the seat tube/shock pivot? I found that the Zerk was too long and bottoming out before binding to the frame, or the hole wasn't quite deep enough. After fitting a couple and subsequently finishing a ride to find I am minus a Zerk, I filed down (shortened)a new Zerk before fitting, no probs since (couple of years ago now). 🙂

Crikey, you lot live in some sh1t areas! 😉

Not sure what I'd do, it would depend on my mood at the time I guess.

Sounds good Wormy, interested to see that, I'll probably have time for a daylight spin late tomorrow afternoon (Fri) if you're about. My email is in my profile – get in touch we'll organise something even if you can't make tomorrow. 🙂

Yes, Bigsi I am the very same. I know who you are! and Dave, see you both later for beer, biking and bbq but not necessarilly in that order. Cool!

Yeah I know, I've ridden it a couple of times this year, and it's not as good as it was when we first stumbled across it (maybe not THE first) on a night ride, must be two years ago now – still quite fun though. 'keep the faith' – why not, just don't ride it whilst holding prayer beads! 😉

'floating crust' ah just bit of in house banter that, it isn't in Surrey even, a bit of singletrack I cut on my 'ride from the door' patch in Sussexshire.

There is an interesting descent that crosses Telegraph Road, it's simply known as 'off camber' it may have been given a proper name by now, as it's been around for a year or two.? My faves are 'all the pies' and 'two head dog' but they're more descent than singletrack runs, and at Leith, 'Windy Willow' then into 'Valoria' old classics but still very nice!

Wormhole, ah yes 'floating crust' is bedding in nicely isn't it, glad you're enjoying riding it – I have noticed the extra tyre tracks. 🙂

    Sussex is underwater too!

Telegrapgh Road is pretty uninteresting, to say the least. Park at Holmbury St Mary near the green, take the lane by the side of the pub, just before the top of the climb up from there, take the first right, that is the begining of Telegraph Road, it crosses two fireroads.

I use a Stihl for what it's worth.

I don't think it's a job for a chainsaw, pallets with nails in and shity mdf, buy a bow saw and get to, treat it as a workout! You can probably snap up that mdf crap.

I must be one of the few who haven't had any problems with the DHX Air. I wouldn't mind a ti spring DHX Coil, but I've no real complaints with the air to be honest..

Apologies for the eye damaging lycra!

Apparently blow fly isn't a problem in New Zealand so, anything from there shouldn't involve museling. I've just emailed Swobo as I've a few of their merino, and they've replied saying their merino doesn't invlove that practice. Phew!

I picked the old one up, and chucked it out in the garden still alight – it carried on burning untill I emptied a bucket of water on it!

Thanks for the replies, I went for a thirty quid Kenwood in the end but, I will most likely get a Dualit sometime in the future – lovely quality and they're made in West Sussex!

I agree coffeeking, we're all trouble making bastards, and the importer and shop owner selling the products are of course technically and morally in the right!

Anyone know where I can buy a cracked frame…

BoardingBob – I should bloody hope not! 😉

Back to the subject in matter – you pays your money you make your choice etc etc.

It ain't good what ever way you dress it up IMO.

If the crack isn't visible when new and unused then it is a deterioration. I had a look at riding buddies slx after reading this thread, and it was more of a jagged seperation or de-lamination (if you don't want to call it a crack) than a mark!

I won't be buying the slx double chainset I had in mind. Maddison – it's a cop out, it's not a quality product, and whats going to happen over time, these cranks haven't exactly been around for long.

Bill's during the day and Harry's in the eve.

Tierre Tierre or Jamie Oliver's place in the North Laines for somthing a little more upmarket.

Yep, the Enduro frame was £600! It is 853 with 725 stays and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Have a look on the SJS site, under frames.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the above.

They have some large Enduro frames left at half price! I'd certainly go for that than a Sterling, the Enduro is 853/725 too!!

ir_bandito, if you do sell the frame, and it's a 559M size, email me please (details in my profile), I'm looking at building a ss and the frame is a good fit for me. Not fussed on paint condition, as I've a colour scheme in mind!

I quite like the yellow, but if we're just talking asthetics, some of the finishing kit doesn't really do it justice.

    It's a crack – I wouldn't use them!

But also giving them a bollocking for leaving it there – something like that I think.

Chapaking – the Kili flyer is 'Ocean Blue' and the Kili xtr is 'Ultra Violet'(purple-ish), both 'flamboyant' colours, in the '93 catalogue. It doesn't mean a great deal, as the Sahara is listed as red only in the catalogue, when mine came through it was metalic black!

I've still got the saracen catalogue/brochure featuring the Kili-flyer and all their models if anyone has an old original bike, and they want it?

I bought the Sahara -= cost £400! in the day 93 I believe, as my foray into mtb – has Tange tubing, still have it and it's original although gears and brakes are almost non-existant!

The Kili-Ultra in ti seems to be the ultimate in the catalogue of 93!

I enjoy all the trappings of being my own boss, and none of the negatives, like poor-ish earnings, unpaid hollidays and sickness. All in all – I think I do!

I've used the UST version 2.1 I think, on the hardtail, I really like it. It is a summer tyre though.

I use 2.35 nevegals on my 5spot at the Surrey Hills all year round.

They are ace, the best liners I've tried by far. Stif are the uk importers and their stock has been sporadic up to late. I'm waiting for some new stock to arrive and I'll be buying some more .

If you're inbetween sizes, a tip is to opt for the larger, as the come up small-ish to uk sizes.

Are you sure you're not spending too much time in the clubs, instead of riding Mr Clubber! 🙂 😉

    Have a great weekend – I'm outa-here.

Cool! I'm sure it's much harder than it looks, video and pics rarely capture how technical trails really are.

No idea what Zm has arranged for Sat, we'll try not to get too pished in the Rose & Crown the night before then Buz! Looking forward to it, think we have eight booked accom.

    Cheers

King or orbit XL11 – yeah they're similiar!!!! NOT

    It's like shall I buy a 1k bike of a 4K bike!

For what it's worth my XL11 lasted a couple of months before it was heamoraging rusty fluid from the bearings. I wouldn't entertain another unless it was on a road/commute bike.

    Buy once – buy King
