I was going to suggest the Big Dog 14th Aug – a Sat.

Looks all clear this morning – I can actually get in the shed now without being dive bombed by the blighters!

Well, I had two attempts at removing the nest, with a bucket of smoking paper/foliage and a garden rake – and leg it immediately after. I just couldn't access it properly, and after the two attempts and no stings, I decided to quit whilst I was ahead.

I called the local wasp man, and as luck would have it, he was on his way home – a crisp ten pound note and job's a good-un – I hope!

Cheers for the advice, and by the way, smoke is only affective on honey bees – aggrevates wasps according to wasp man. 🙂

Tempting – but it'll burn my shed down with it! 😉

m_f anyone who knew me would laugh at your comment about mornings! I'm definatetly not an early morning person, but then I don't have to be – the boss is very understanding!! 😉

Me http://www.peterflynnclassiccars.com 20 years I wouldn't have it any other way – not that I would have much of a choice after all this time! If I did it for the money I would have given up years ago!!

mikey74 – as mentioned already it is riding nicely at the moment, probably in it's ideal state imo, with no charging yet, and conditions being good. The DH side of things is still in the setting up process; at the meeting we managed to conclude with the FC and CTC (the latter being the biggest risk to all charging) that only the DH area would be subject to charges – initially anyway. Go have a look, although you may not recognize all the trails you once knew before the felling!

I can't recomend these highly enough http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/category-Thorn-Raven-Enduro-Frames-716.htm you may be lucky with the sizes they have left. They used to be £699 btw! I've had mine almost five years, ride it three times a week!

Oh, and it has a 725 rear triangle – not many top end steel frames have that! 🙂

And I haven't mentioned the lifetime warranty!

It's hub geared or ss though only….

Not had that, but in five years my hub has been back twice, the driver bearings were replaced both times – free of charge. In total it's cost me one £60 carrier fee to get it out there. I'm fairly happy with that every two years.

Make sure you mention the noise when it goes back!

    Has this been done already?

Yes, experience of that! You WILL recover BUT it does take time!

I had it in 08 really bad where I thought I couldn't possibly ride like I used to again, it was quite a stressful time, and VERY painful. I couldn't even sit at the table to have breakfast in the morning (mornings were worse), I had to kneel on the floor and keep my back straight. Anyway, I did ride but only lighty when things allowed. It probably did take almost a year to get back to full recovery. I would say after having on going back problems leading to this for many many years, that now, I feel better than than I have for absolutely years! I raced in 09 (did well)and feel pretty strong now, so you will get there too, just don't over do it at this stage and get some massage, any massage doesn't have to be technical just manipulating the area works as well as a proper physio massage ime.

Btw – I do get some light tingling in my left foot (top) and lower leg for short periods, but it is in no way uncomfortable. Apparently, the sciatic nerve gets 'tethered'after this and provides these sensory feelings for some time. It doesn't bother me at all, in fact I had to edit this, because I only just remembered that.

O, and it didn't make any difference to me, whether I rode full suss or hardtail, as it was a chronic problem and not an accute injury.

    All the best mate

I get about ten months out of a UN52/72 BB – ride three times a week on average with that bike.

Thnaks geetee1972, it doesn't look like a cost effective option at the moment for me. I'd like to have a look round the island some day though.

What is the cheapest way of getting there with a bike, and is there any good riding?

    woodsman

2nd Samuri – I've tried it and it works, a light lashing with a stinger to the appropriate joint! Also, I eat the odd leaf on trail – that's good too, in a non-descriptive kind of way. 🙂

I agree it is quite liberating not wearing pants – I ought to do it more often!

Sharki, I think you're doing the right thing – finding yourself again, at your own pace, appreciating the basics of life. You'll know when you've found the right place to put down a root or two. Where ever that is, I'm sure you'll find some top riding in time.

Thanks for taking the time to show us around the Q's last autumn (the Brighton lot) you're still in credit with beers and cake with us mate – next time eh! 🙂

    Respect
