On closer inspection I don’t have Kool Stop Salmons. The salmon pads are in my tool box – I never fitted them. The standard ones though are rubbish. Will try the salmons out at the weekend.

I had Duranos front a rear. I guess they were on for about 1000 miles. They didn’t wear out – they cracked and split all over the place. And they weren’t very puncture proof. Wasn’t impressed at all. Replaced with Gatorskins which have done two years almost now.

We’ve had several from Ikea. I like the twin versions – two duvets buttoned together. Super warm and lasted much longer than some very expensive ones from JL. Think we paid £25 for a double in Ikea about 5 years ago.

I picked up a pair of santuko knives in Aldi for £12 last year. Better than my £150 knives…..

That said I will one day make a purchase from the Japanese knife shop in London.

I use Conti gatorskins. I find they grip on everything except metal stuff like manhole covers. However, reading a previous thread it appears most people don’t like them in the wet:

I know. I’m wondering if I got a duff set? They did come from the US. Maybe they have a different compound over there??

I like my RS Rebas. Easy enough to service and nice and light too (compared to the Toras they replaced).

I don’t rate the koolstop salmons. They have next to no grip in the wet. The original Tiagras pads were better. I’m getting some Clarks elite road pads tomorrow. for £7 I thought I’d give them a go.

Got a 4 year old girl and another girl on the way. I cannot wait. 1st got the hang of her balance bike this year. I’m so excited to see the second one do the same.

With a couple of childseats there’s no reason you and your wife cannot go biking together. A colleague at work and her husband both have fat bikes with childseat. They seem to love the family bike ride by all reports.

1/2 Red onion, finely diced. Garlic finely chopped, 1/4 tsp of paprika, 1/4 tsp of salt. Mash it up in a pestle and morter. Eat.

It’ll clear your sinuses in seconds! And the garlic and onion have antibacterial properties. And possibly some anti-viral ones too. You can also spread it on toast to make it a bit less hardcore.

It happens very occasionally. I had one “buyer” who sent me a message saying he wasn’t going to pay as he had just received the invoice from ebay for the stuff he’d sold. I think he thought he was somesort of ebay anarcist?

Could be worse, could be Gumtree. We’ve had some right weirdos not turn up/turn up.

I have the same bike helmet that the hipster has. Should I be worried? No ponytail though. No hair for that matter.

I was really impressed with the stock SLX pads – they lasted over a year. Then I went through a set in 2 hrs at Thetford. Muddy sand does not help!

Lowestoft unfortunately! I reckon for 95% of jobs it would be amazing. I want it mostly for cutting sheet material down to size for woodwork projects. My big makita circular saw does a fine job – it’s just very big and heavy.

Not going to use it – karma and all that.

It’s side to side play. Meaning if the foot was pushed against a straight edge then the blade is pushed off slightly off centre.

As tthew says – if you aren’t going to use it every day you still have the problems of it clogging up and then having to bin it.

I’m going for a laser printer next. Colour ones aren’t too expensive these days. I print a photo once a year so I could do that at Jessops

Right-ho, I’ll give Honda a call in the morning. In the meantime I’m on autotrader checking out the cost of a Focus!

I’m loth to go to Honda. Checking the Civinfo pages it seems (understandably) that the dealer has to take off the clutch to see if it’s worn out or a warranty fail. At 67k I guess there’s a good chance of it just having worn out. In which case I’ve got a Honda sized repair bill :(

Unfortunately it hasn’t got full Honda service history. And my local Honda dealer is absolutely appauling. They have never heard of any Honda recalls ever.

At first impressions it seems like a good idea. Companies either side of the pond can trade across the pond without incuring taxes etc.

The problem comes when you get into the detail. Firstly US labour costs are much lower (due to no holiday pay, maturity leave, working horrific hours etc. etc.) so they can undercut European companies. The European companies cannot compete because of the sensible labour laws that people have fought, voted and in some cases died for.
Secondly existing legislation can be overuled and new legislation reject on the grounds that it “harms trade”. These laws tend to be things like don’t use stuff that kills people in baby food.

The whole thing is going to be regulated by some sort of overarching regulatory board. The board is made up largely of the big companies pushing for TTIP.None of it seems very good for us, European, or indeed workers in the US.

Should this post not have a sticky on it given the number of times it pops up?!

    Anyway. GT85. Job done.

I’ve paste the dates in. In sum cases it works, but in most in switches the tasks to manually scheduled and leaves the duration at 1d? Then I don’t get the all important bar on the Gannt chart

Cash offer just means they don’t need a mortgage. Assuming the agent is telling the truth. The cash could be tied up in the sale of their existing house.

In my (limited) experience talking to the owner of the house is always a good idea. Ultimately it is them who makes the decision over who to sell to. Agents play all sorts of games if they think they can get a few extra quid. Including lying to their own clients!

Mrs Storm mentioned you’d been splashing the cash! Decided overshoes are the next purchase after todays little shower. Hopefully my shoes are dry enough by tomorrow.

P.S. check out frog bikes if you’ve not seen them already. Cheaper and better looking alternative to Islabikes

    I think I just found an alternative….

    Raleigh Junior Brake Levers

They say they are for both v and canti brakes. I’m guessing they have a pull ratio of somewhere between the two. I’ll order a pair and see how they work. I figured worse case scenario I can just add a set of mini-v’s. As mini v-brakes are aimed at road bike bikes that should over come any pull ratio issues.

Fuel economy will vary with the quality of the fuel. Espeially on high pressure injectors. The better (usally more expensive) petrol has detergents and stuff in to keep the injectors clean. Supermarket stuff doesn’t.

As always you get what you pay for.
