I think it was reviewed in a magazine called Single Track World a few months back

I use and really like Torq Recovery Chocolate Orange. Very tasty but I only use it for rides over 3hrs long, or 2 hr if I’ve been going really hard.

You don’t have to have the full three scoops per drink. For shorter rides you could just use 1 or 2 scoops and this might do the job.

I’m with njee on being pretty skeptical if you’ll need it after a sub-1hr ride.

Hi clubber appreciate some sensible advice but I’m 4 weeks into a 12 week training programme with specific race goals. Did a fair bit of base before Xmas as well. If I want to do ok I’ll need both man and machine working in perfect harmony. :)

Hijacking my own thread I just want a hardtaul rocket that is comfy enough for doing 12 hr solos. Cost about 2k…..

    I want to:

    1. Keep the soul as a trail bike.

    2. Buy a new hardtail new for racing 12 hr marathons and team events. Not that bothered what it is as long as the spec is decent, i.e. Xt, fox rls, light wheels or equivalent.

Hoping that I’ll be able to get a good deal, something like less than £2k.

But what decent Xc/enduro machines are out there for about £2k? Not too fussed about all this new school german muck on crc.

I’ve already got a soul, nice build with Fox Rl120s and decent bits.

Just looking to have something a bit racier for going relatively fast on 12 hr solos. Don’t want full sus tho.

Yesterday I had installed two windows (tilt and turn). Both 1700×950 for £850.

B-rated, U-value = 1.8 (so not bad but not the best) but well fitted, sealed and finished.

From a local installer with good reputation.

Graham, assuming you were wearing your purple lycra at the time their thinking was probably along the following lines:

Big beard + purple lycra = GUILTY

I ride at margam park with a number of mates on a fairly regular basis. There are a lot of really good trails there, some of which one mate in particular has put a lot of effort into making and maintaining. However, we totally accept that it is a working forest and that any section could disappear from month to month.

I live in Swansea so ride at afan all the time. Yesterday i rode newcastleton (red trail) for the first time (on my way home to the borders for chrimbo). Anyway it’s a nice little centre, with some fun sections, very smooth, lots of berms and was actually quite sheltered considering the weather. No unexpected big drops although there are a few rocky drop offs which were good fun and break up the smoothness. Worth a look if the weather is too bad for the lakes or if you’ve only got a couple of hours available. Has a jump park too but I didn’t ride it in the wet

Similar situation here – although only 4 pints last night (but i’m weak these days)

Have been self-medicating with a mix of
    Bacon roll
    Aspirin
    Ibuprofen
    opelfruits/starburst
    coffees
    ginger beer

Seems to be working ok so far

Well done for getting a seat. Often I’m standing until reading.

I predict that in Cardiff the train will fill up with drunken middle aged women and by Neath drunken lads out on the piss to Swanners.

    Have a good one!

They work most efficiently on a low temperature difference. so you need a well insulated house to get the best from them. Bit of a no no if you have uninsulated solid walls or a drafty house.

Because they work on low temps you generally require a lower flow rate in the rads which means bigger pipes and radiators. Works well with underfloor in a well insulated house. Also because of the lower temps they should be turned on earlier to heat up the house over a longer time. It’s not like just firing up the boiler.

also they do work less efficiently in very cold weather. If paying quarterly you can end up with one very big bill and 3 very small bills. So best to do a monthly direct debit.

Using a good experienced contractor is essential. Good advice above too.

I think it still stacks up reasonable well at 21p/unit.

We’ll have to see what happens to panel prices though.

I have lived in Swansea for the last 5 years and I think it’s got a lot better in that time. I find some of the above comments a bit offensive tbh.

For nice places to live look West. Start in Uplands/Sketty and keep going towards Mumbles/Newton/Bishopston. Mumbles and Gower are nice but more expensive. Alternatively there are lots of new flats in the SA1 Waterfront and marina areas if that suits you. Most of the student areas are nasty but fortunately the students don’t leave them much.

For bike routes there is a cycle path that runs along the side of the Fabian way most of the way to Llandarcy, it’s a shitty cycle path but does the job. I regularly used to do Swansea to Port Talbot but we’ve now moved to a posh new office in the SA1 waterfront. Cycle commute along the bay is incredible on a sunny day. There is also a cycle path going through Clyne woods which a lot of people use.

Happy to show you some local trails beyond the obvious ones at Afan when you get here. Lots of good technical riding up Kilvey Hill for example.
    cheers

I thought The Outsider was excellent. Not a seminal alblum like endtroducing but that was never gonna happen.

His interview (part 1) on 6music on sunday was pretty interesting as well. Part 2 this weekend i think

Hey DezB that was an interesting one cos the blue car let her out, no? So it was as much the blue car’s fault as her’s?

Anyway i’ve learnt the difference between complimentary and complementary!
