I heard that Olly Beck did it at around 4 hrs.

Course was great, tough but great. Up the Sugar Loaf and then west from there up some other big hills.

Yeah those new red sections are very good. And good for improvers as well. Learner riders can do them before graduating to the bigger ascents and descents higher up.

I’m sure when the wall was first opened it was almost as smooth as the new Green and Blues. After a few months it will bed in and become a bit more interesting.

Have to agree though that they haven’t been very ambitious with the route. Possibly limited to the lower valley to avoid future forestry operations?

Just started it on Monday in combination with week 6 of a 12 week training plan. Felt pretty rough doing intervals on Tuesday but the body seems to have adapted and I was going well last night.

Lots of veg and meat, mmmm. enjoying first day off today- cereal for brekkie, sandwich for lunch and cake in the afternoon.

Big pot of broad beans and black eyed peas is soaking away at home, awaiting the week ahead.

Have lost about 4 or 5 pounds so far.

    Think I’ll do it too.

Imagine it will be typical welsh hillside biking, i.e. pretty muddy in places with the rain that is forecast for Friday night.

I just started yesterday (after a false start a few months ago).

Today i feel a bit strange, but have been enjoying lots of meat and veg.

    Keep quiet.

Or maybe it is a deliberate test of your honesty and integrity.

Perhaps it’s a bonus for your excellent performance? Perhaps you should treat it that way….

I think it definitely has potential if they can span the gap between keen cyclist and newbies.

I would also like to see the results. It’s not that I’ve won or I’m mega competitive or anything, but as I was nearly sick trying, I’d like to get a measure of how I did in the xc on the sunday 8O

Brilliant weekend razzing about on bikes.

Got the bug for going faster on the DH now, must get faster, must get faster.

Pump track challenge was a highlight too.

Judging by the amount of beer that Loco/Simon has bought I doubt I’ll be putting too much effort in to sunday’s racing…. :D

Why: Bought the hype since Cotic arrived and have wanted one for years. Finally got this lovely frame last year 2nd hand from someone on here.

Spec: Shed and strip of the old bike build. Could do with being a bit burlier for my ambitions, bigger front rotor and bolt thru fork would be nice. Superstar wheels have been much better than i would expect for £180. XT throughout including pedals. Thomson stem, easton bars and KCNC seat post.

Opinions: Great fun downhill, springy ride and much nicer than my old xc full sus. Even with a light build for a soul i find it a bit of a chore uphill but then I’m more xc orientated than most and have another bike for races. This soul is my training and winter hack and I love it.

also in the area you have swansea, bridgend, porthcawl, port talbot. Port Talbot is closet but is dominated by the steel works which you may have noticed when passing.

Swansea, Bridgend and Porthcawl all have some nice areas. Generally west is best.

I live in swansea and takes me about 35-40 minutes to get to Afan.

Bits of the valleys above cardiff can be nice as well.

    Yeah you’ll be fine.

Most of the trains have a dedicated cycle area which tends to be at the end of a carriage by the toilets – sometimes get filled up with shopping or prams first but usually no probs.

Definitely best world cup of the season so far. Amazing course and lots of camera angles – lots of skill on those jumps.

Danny was on it again, great to see.

I am likely to have one for sale 2nd hand very soon.

Chas Bland 1970’s track frame made in Bristol, resprayed blue about 5 years ago and has been a good commuter / town bike for that same time.

    Reasonable finishing kit.

No photos at present but I’ll do some soon. £150. Interested?

I built a saracen out of the box and they come from the same distributor as genesis (so may have the same level of build).

It was a case of putting the rotors on, attached saddle to seatpost, seatpost in frame, pedals on, and align/tighten stem and headset. But what took just as much time was removing all of the protective packaging around the frame and forks etc.

    30min to 1 hr tops.
