Swansea waterfront is actually very quite. The in town version on the other hand is best avoided.

Last night, a random car passenger shouted some abuse at me. I then caught up the car and shouted back at close range “oi fatty shut yer trap you **** fat ****”. Not grown up or clever but felt good at the time. Apologies to any fatties.

Rain here hasn’t been any worse than usual over the last few days. Worst downpours were in N Wales and on the other side of the bristol channel.

I “winterize” my bike with mudguards, tyres with bigger knobs and changing chain lube from dry to wet.

An autumn service for bearings, cables and suspension is a good call too.

EBC has always given good service. I’ve shopped there since about 1995 when it was only in Edinburgh.

I haven’t done the sums get to see if 17/kWh gives a decent return on SWH. Will be interesting to see….

on local rides just a water bottle, multitool, phone, door key.

on longer rides, sidewall repair kit, tube, pump, food as well

Funnily enough diet, I-diet worked for me to loose about 1.5 stone.

Did cost more in terms of buying more lean meat and fish than i did previously.

Am put off by (i) the increase in bottom bracket height and (ii) the potential impact on handling if I don’t change the fork – it’s all about “trail” right?

    wonnyj

Less cake and more climbing perhaps?

Yes yes I’ve done that already, lost 1.5 stone in the last 3 months and can climb much faster than I could two years ago thanks to some specific training and much hard work. 8O

But when everyone else in the race is on bigger wheelers and they pull away on the rutted stuff without working any harder it’s difficult not to think that you really “need” bigger wheels.

    wonnyj

Of course its worth doing – you will get less choice of tyres, heavier wheels, more rotating mass and yet another standard. Whats wrong with all that ?

But I want to go faster!

Or alternatively set up tubeless but with no sealant.

    ^^ good write up

” throughout the next few miles I got cramps in my quads and calves, a groin cramp and my left knee was starting to go, I just kept going though, I found 2 electrolyte tablets in my bag, the kind that dissolve in water, and ate them both. This cured the leg cramps but gave me stomach cramps and wind. This was also one of the first times I have used chamois cream on my rides, when you fart into a set of shorts full of chamois cream it does cross your mind whether you have just shat yourself..” 8O

I’ve just entered and can’t wait for it.

Was probably the best event I did in 2010 – great little course and nice atmosphere.

Hard standing car park with proper cafe and a pump track what more do you need?!

Simples, if you can stick the 9-5 strictly. Otherwise you’ll be doing all the hours in the day for the last 6-9 months.

Planning some overnight racing at the dusky valleys event in a couple of weeks in south Wales so twin batteries useful for that. Will have a look at deal x as well

Friday, on idave diet today is my day off, so it’s been pizza, doughnuts, irnbru and yumyums for lunch! Watching BMX for dessert then leave work and off for a BBQ and swim at the beach at Langland on Gower

Sat, big ride planned: Glyncorrwg, Skyline, Rhonnda, Skyline, Afan. Then camping down the Gower later

Sun: chilling with my lady, possibly some cultural activities….

Well this event should take in all the classic margam trails plus a few new ones. The boulder shoot is at margam.

Gareth has broken quite a few good riders at margam over the years. Not just corby!

    wonnyj

Don’t worry its got absolutely nothing to do with Steve C!! (insurance costs would be too high). Has Corby been hi-jacking it as his own then?

No it’s Gareth Hayes (taffy on xcracer.com) who seems to spend most of his weekends up there and has broken a few good racers on the margam tech over the years.
