I find it all quite compelling, fascinating sometimes.

All together would make more sense. Most people just want a decent ride of a Sunday morning. I prefer to do the morning race cos I can get off for lunch at a decent hour. The longer lap helped to absorb all the riders this time around.

How was it decided if you got to do a 4th lap. Was there a 1hr30 cut off or something?

Also Gasyz, were you the guy in yellow with a puncture at the end? If so, I just pipped you for 9th. Was pretty harsh I thought.

I have one of each – a Soul and a Saracen Kili Ti.

The Saracen has a slightly steeper head tube – so handling is a bit twitchier, or the Soul is a bit more stable downhill. The Kili Ti can be built into a great trail bike and at that price is an absolutely fantastic buy.

Both frames can take a hammering downhill but the Saracen is a lot lighter and more sprightly / lively especially when you stand up and pedal. Also Saracen is more comfortable on longer rides.

I’ve got my Kili Ti built up as XC endurance machine – light wheels, long stem, KCNC finishing kit – really light and not a bit of carbon on it.

Yes I went into my local library last night to find David Miller’s book and the cycling shelf was full of LA and not much else. Presumably all the reality stuff was on loan.

Dyfi Enduro – free camping and can be combined with the BBC Comedy Festival on the same weekend.

I’ve got the Ti version and love it.

+1 on the nasal passages from Hopk1ns. My friend had sinus issues for ages which put a damper on her biking activities.

Can someone explain the attraction of these ‘Mountain’ events that are nowhere near mountains? Why not call it Extreme Adventure Mountain Mayhem and move it to Norfolk.

These days I’ll only enter an event if the location includes the words “BASE CAMP”.

Lot of redkites around mid and even south wales. They feed them and you can go and watch. Ecologically questionable but pretty cool all the same.

The first round course for the winter xc was good fun, couple of big forest roads climbs and reasonably tech descents. Not sure about the other events but I guess they’ll be hilly and a bit epic it being mid-Wales.

Organisation is decent, warm cafe and bike wash available. Just don’t expect lots of frills for a budget entry price.

You post a picture on here and cy or someone in the know will tell you.

The decals can tell you something as well but I wouldn’t know exactly what…

Yeah that was me with Gareth – nice to beat him for once! I was aware that there were some people ahead and that some stopped after the first hour race, but really not sure if I came 2nd/3rd/4th! On the facebook site they’ve said results will be ready on Friday night – bit frustrating! I did 6 laps over 2hr30ish.

Yes was a good event. Apparently all rounds are going to be at this venue now. Cafe was a life saver – another lap or two I would have been in trouble.

Chrispo were you the guy in yellow who chased me for the last 3 laps? (Jonny in Loco Tuning kit). Were we 2nd and 3rd ? I would like to have found out on the day.

Looks like fun. Might get out of bed for that on Sat morning.

I just bought an unlocked samsung from Tesco for £15, there was also a nokia for £20. Seems fine and will see me through until I get another smartphone under contract in the new year.

Sweet potato is lower GI than normal potatoes, so for me (just restarted the idave diet) it’s fine if I’ve just done or about to do some exercise.

I’ve been following it again pretty strictly this week with a lot of exercise as well. Lost about 3-4 lbs of belly tub. Cutting out sugar and beer really helps. doing it as a crash diet really to do a winter xc race before christmas (and then it’ll be a week or so of eating and drinking anything put in front of me)

I have been eating carbs after/before exercise (but less than usual) and if I don’t do that I tend to get a bit grumpy or lightheaded.

Also this time around I haven’t cut out fruit, cos it’s too nice to cut.

Butter off with an entry level road bike – will be much more confidence inspiring than a dodgy mtb compromise.

Ah I can see that now! I’ve entered too after hearing all the good reports about it. Apparently tough in the mud with lots of singletrack steep ups and downs.

Thankfully the Waun Wen chippy is now much better.

Even if you have insulation you will still have a cold spot on the corner. The north corners are always the coldest parts of a house, hence damp from moisture in the air will gather there.

More ventilation is the answer. Dehumidifier is an overcomplicated response to a simple-ish problem. You should also clean the mould off, as the mould spores can lead to health problems.

My house is a similar construction and we get mould in teh north corners especially in the bathroom where a lot of moisture is generated.

Positive input ventilation is a good approach if ventiliation first doesn’t work, or you can keep the house warm enough when ventilated.
