Good shout, I’ve been off the beer and even off the wine for the last couple of weeks, so that looks like an excellent way to redress the balance.

Beer fest and live music sounds perfect for Sunday afternoon. “Miserable sods” hour for discounts could be appropriate too.

I’ll be there from tomorrow, taking up the “glamping” posh wigwam offer and staying till Monday. Hope the storms don’t arrive.

Doing my first 24 hr solo and this week have been enjoying a big fat taper after months of more or less continuous training.

Riding in Loco Racing team kit. (two of us doing 24hr solo)

Cube aren’t direct sales, Canyon are just as mass produced as most of the others on here. you not posting your bike?

No way. My bikes are a long way off “super”. Far too much slx and xt!

That Canyon looks like a trek fuel rip off. And is not particularly special. The Turners and Independent Fabrications on the other hand are lovely.

    Yup no Canyons or Cubes.

Purely a personal dislike of mass produced, big german direct sales outfits. Knocked out in their thousands in a Taiwanese factory.

A superbike frame should have an element of something extra special.

    Simple:

    Canyon’s definitely not.
XT no (maybe the brakes but nothing else).

I dreamt last night that I was on a ride and suddenly didn’t have any wheels.

    Don’t think they’re mine though

Depends on how fast they’re going obviously, but they should be in Bourg D’Oisans at about 14:30-14:50
Thats the caravan, not the race.

But the info sheet is in French, including a one hour time difference.

Surely they should only be allowed to pick one steed from the quiver

Surely another arrow from the stable? 8O

Not sure about the fluro commuter chaps. Ideal for some questionable night clubs?

I think that a dramatic reduction in your intake of carbs in combination with more exercise than you’re used to could be making you feel crappy.

I try keep down the amount of carbs in my diet unless around exercise – i.e. before, during or after exercise when I make sure that I do take on some carbs (and protein e.g. milk, meat etc).

Not sure about processed sugars – not good for you and do turn to fat is my opinion.

Trance 29er is really nice IMO. Dunno about pop factor though.

I liked the steep climbs and cleaned them all apart from the really steep, claggy one. Also liked the fast descents and the tricky loose corners. You had to hit the right lines through the mud channels to maintain speed in places which was also good. Thought it rode well especially in the middle bit of the race when it was dry.

But the comment above is correct – if it had been properly wet it would have been awful.

Did anyone hear what happened to the guy who ate the “bike lube gel”?

Basically in the sign on packs there was a sachet of lube that looked just like an energy gel. Inevitably someone necked it and was then taken to hospital. Any update?

Camping ground was on premium horse riding pasture. So concerns about getting bike grime and possible woodland mud on to the grass (?)

As an alternative there is the excellent Margam Madness event one week later than the original K100 date. It’s an 8hr event on 21st Sept.

Lots of climbing and techy singletrack. About 400m climbing per lap. See xc racer for details

I’m more or less the same. can do the odd few rotations but never up on the balance point properly. Up hill and in low gear with saddle down always seems to help.

Once in 1998 I even did a manual by mistake over a big puddle. Good day.

Sounds good although the potential lack of trackside space could be a bugger.

Well the 50p seatpost I got last week is doing a fine job. Using it as a spare post with a girls saddle so that my GF can use my trail bike when we go on rides together.

    Should be a belter.

My mate has just pulled out of the solo as he’s ill at the moment and can’t train. I’ve just put his entry on the classifieds if anyone is interested

Great little trail. Lots of switchbacks, perhaps too many on the climbs , but then the terrain is pretty steep.

As mentioned above, would be good to have some links to the other riding in the area.

I was in my local halfords last week and the place has now got a lot more stock. Looks good, almost like a proper bike shop.

Wasn’t convinced by Dare2B gloves at £25.00 though. I just picked up my 50p Bikehut seatpost and left.

I just fitted the smogasboards front and rear to my soul. Loads of grip and quite fast for the type of tyre. Dual compounds.

Not my first choice for cycle paths but a great all rounder.
