Yup same here. Enjoy the technical stuff and wasn’t interested in sorting out peoples holidays and sick and generally acting as Mr Motivator. So I turned it down.

my girl had a Rothan with a brake – she learned to use it. She now rides a pedal bike with brakes and i can shout to her and tell her to brake – she’s fine with it.

To be fair though they don’t go so stupidly fast they cant stop by putting their feet down anyhow.

Not sure about “rounded” but I had one where the entire external cup sheared off leaving the threaded shell inside. Cut it out with a Dremmel – cut diagnol across the threads of the shell against the threads of the frame. Got it out OK and the new one sent in fine.

i’ve done one – doing another 70 miler this weekend.

it does take over your life.

the training is harder than the actual event.

I managed to stay injury free by: never training for more than 3 hours at a time, build up slowly – regular rest weeks. Stay under 60 miles per week.

You cant really train to run 70 miles, it’s just about building up endurance.

I wont be doing it again after this one. Although i said the same after the last one. :)
