    a bit of Bough

From this day forward I’m using this!

I agree with all of this, I was sure he was about 70 in the 1970’s!

Same here, I was reluctant to jump in but I was glad I did. Thoroughly enjoyed all of them.

By brother in law works at the Uni, you probably know him.
We were in Dundee the other week visiting from Manchester, second time I’ve been there and I really like it. We’ve stayed in Broughty Ferry and a place called Cupar a bit south (?) the whole area was really nice.

Pretty much the same as @rumbledethumps here. Always thought being a mechanic was what I wanted so went straight into it from school. Lasted 3 or 4 years before realising the reality was much different! Ended up doing a degree in IT and been there ever since, I’m 50 this year. I also sometimes think about moving back into something more practical then I remember the cold oily stinky manky times and realise IT pays well and is very comfortable and safe in comparison 😀

My wife works at an agency too and just went through the same. It was her up against a colleague, she was kept on but now feels bad for her ex co-worker…they’ve both been on furlough for the last 4 months.

Not a lot of spends at the minute so I imagine a lot of agencies and related companies in the same boat.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

Definitely does on the road. Got back on my ali road bike the other week after ages on the carbon one and I thought my flipping fillings were going to come out on one section of road. Not sure about off road front suspension, nice fat low pressure tyres etc….

This happened to me the other day too for the first time. Took the wheel off to give the cassette a clean and the entire cassette and freehub body came off. Went straight back on and works fine but I’m with you….just seems wrong…. modern world eh?!

Follow this Park tutorial, if you take it step by step it’ll work (ignore the deadpan delivery!)

I agree with dangeourbrain, probably temperature related.
Try running it with the case off or open if possible. If it still does it could be the processor fan/heatsink could try reseating with some fresh thermal paste.

I also work in IT for a government department who have a very lavish five floor city centre property – the argument for getting it was to attract talent as the civil service is seen as burocratic and boring (who knew!) But apart from a few testers who physically need a particular BT connection in the office the place has been deserted since lockdown so it begs the question….why bother with it at all?
Pretty sure home working would attract people just as much.
I’m not planning on going back 5 days a week for sure, although I do miss the cycle in….I’m getting fat!

I’ve had the same – I even had an auction with an actual Buy It Now price and I still got messaged saying do you have a buy it now price??? Well…yeah it’s on the auction right there, push the button.
What they really mean is can I have it cheaper. Let it run.

Yeah its a brazed on mount.
As i understand it the pull is different for road shifting so there might not be enough or be too much cable (cant remember which).

removing the brazed on mount is looking like the best bet it seems.

Well my BB30 collapsed in my F29 entirely and I was left with the metal race in the BB shell and nothing to press it out with from the other side. Ended up taking the Dremel to it to cut through and managed to prise it out. Not what you want to have to do in a carbon frame.

Yeah trouble is thumb strength it takes to push them. My eldest struggled going from gripshift to triggers, she found twisting them much easier. Also struggles with the up and down direction on triggers whereas gripshift was a bit easier to get her head around.

My Cannondale BB30a collapsed on me, the replacement is on its way…. My new rule is avoid press fit BB of any sort.

Max heart rate has nothing to do with fitness. It’s “set” genetically, you can’t “improve” it and it bears nothing to fitness. It’s does decrease as you age though.
Resting is supposed to be the measure of fitness.

@mick_r I do, and I may just do that cheers I’ll mail you.

The good news is Cy has been kind enough to offer me a new one at a crash discount. Superb service. Bad news, no stock until April.

Should give me time to clean my wheels though! :D

Perhaps I should ask Chipps to fix it? He’s been on a frame building course right? :D

A crack appeared a while back, I didn’t actually think it was a crack but obviously with hindsight it clearly was.
Doesn’t appear to be any rust, probably stress, I have a rack and panniers although I’m fairly light I’d have thought I wouldn’t be too much of a burden.

Haha, thanks for the replies. It gets a hose down once a week, it gets covered in cack every single day so I’d be forever cleaning it otherwise.
I admit it has taken a beating and owes me nothing.
Anyone any ideas of a ballpark figure to get it repaired? I guess if it’s £350 for a new one it’s going to have to be pretty cheap repair to make it worthwhile.

I’ve ran one for years as my daily commuter. Full guards, pannier rack, singlespeed. Use it for my off road commute all year round. Done literally 1000’s of miles on it. Can’t fault it at all.

Controversial but why don’t they put the police on a bonus per conviction. They’d soon pay for their own salary in fines and there would be an incentive to actually enforce. obviously this opens up a whole can of worms regarding false reporting etc…..

Yup run it on a hottest wash possible empty and stick a splash of white vinegar in the powder tray instead of detergent. That’ll get rid of it.

Just use micropore tape from Boots, costs pennies, stays in place and doesn’t rip your nips off when removed!
