hat gearing are you guys on and how do you find it?
I’m running a 38 front ring with an 11-28 out the back. I used to run 36/46 but didn’t use the 46 much in races.

Cheers, I’ll be using my cx for commuting and messing about mainly (and two local races). Hence why I’m looking for a good spead, I’ve just done some quick costings and the cost difference is negligible between an Ultegra 1×11 and an XT/CX1 1×10 40T/11-40, the Ultegra obvoulsly gives you one extra gear but the XT allows for a wider ratio

Hmmm, That Microshift jobbie says “cable pull ratio 1.5:1”

I’m pretty sure Dynasys works on 1.16:1 (Close but not quite 1:1)

Will that bar end shifter actually operate a 10 speed Shimano MTB mech?

Having a look through the Internet proves inconclusive some quote 1.16.1 others 1.5:1

Surly microshift have done their homework ? I’ll email them in the morning, cheers for the heads up

Watching with interest, so max is 32T with Ultegra mech

I’m thinking of going the whole hog and putting a 11-40 with an XT mech

Will bar end shifters work with a clutch mech? Not sure.

    looks like these will…

1 X 11 Shimano 105, 110 bcd, race face narrow wide front ring 40 tooth and 11-28 rear cassette with non clutch mech. Works perfect

My thought process was a clutch mech would help retain the chain (plus i have a spare XT one), im also thinking that an XT mech will allow me to use a wider ratio MTB cassette and give the option for an expander.
as for the Crankset I did consider as you have done buying a double and using a NW chainring but had read that the chainline is not great.

What you going to use to change gear with as nothing shimano do on the road side of things works with a 10 speed MTB mech

ill be using bar end shifters as i have some TRP Hylex hydro disc brakes

have you used the Bosch diagnostic equipment ? What info does it produce that’s odd?

Hi sorry for the slow reply, I’m using northwave Artic, reviews tend to say the lakes are warmer but I’m more than happy with my set up now.

I almost bought one of those cheap Canyons on eBay but I spoke to a guy at Canyon (Germany) whilst he could not speculate on an individual bike he said they have had a lot of CC frauds in the past year but they have also had warranty claims on bikes that are not canyon frames.

The upshot is it looks like they buy them on a stolen CC, strip the bike and rebuild using a cheap chinese frame (canyons have some of the easiest paint scheme/sticker packs to copy) they can then sell the ‘new’ bike and still have a new frame left over to sell …double whammy

Yes I got mine from sam at PS too, I also got the 4 battey charger, wich apparently looks after the batteries better and I safer, though I expect an exploding cell in the case would not be too bad.

Cheers hammy that’s a great insight

I tried the gerbing 12v socks and just like the Kies they will take your skin off, obviously both are designed for motorbikes with wind chill factors but it’s nice to know that they can be cranked up if the need arises

I’ll see how I get on with the gerbing 7v socks and gloves once the temp drops again

Cheers everyone for your input this thread is a life saver for those of us who suffer with raynnueds or the winter wimpies

The cube range are the best VFM (IMHO) I’ve rode them unassisted and it’s not that bad

i wouldnt fancy lifting any of the ones I’ve seen up a flight of stairs, for example.

Exo2 do a heated battery packed insole as well as gloves.
Keis do a cracking inner glove that is heated.
Columbia do a heated Outdry lined glove that is outstanding without the bulk of motorcycle gloves.
    Personal experience of all three.

Hammy, have you used any of these on a cycle or was it for the motorbike ? Do you normally suffer in cold? What do you think of them all ?

I’ve assumed the exo2 is at the bottom of the food chain with only 3.7v and the Kies look awsome with 12v and a decent price but the battery pack looks a little bulky and needs pairing with a heat controller (wires all over)

    MTFU?

That’s what my wife says, her advise was to smother my hands in deep heat, but I’m not sure how that will work out when I need to go for a piss

Cheers for the link to the heatead grips they look interesting, I can see them working well with thin gloves and these..

Just a quick update, ive tried a few different options over the past few weeks

My finding are basically that the higher the voltage the product takes the better the heat but the bigger and heavier the battery (obvious i know)

I personally found the 7V to be the happy medium and have gone for the Gerbing gloves and the gerbing socks (but im still looking for a better sock or insole)

i created a spreadsheet with various info as i researched, it is work in progress but may be helpful if your in the market as there are very limited reviews on this stuff

Yes mines changed, it was tough for a while but I’ve learnt to deal with her a bit better now, she has good days and bad days but more good than bad at the moment say 60/40ish, though she is currently pregnant with no3 so I expect that split to reverse over the next 18months but should improve thereafter I’d be happy to reach 75/25

Let’s just hope she’s having a good day when that canyon box turns up

I also have one in order but I belive the mudguard mounting points are unique so you can’t use one that use standard mounts

Also I think the canyon ones only take a 28mm tyre

I got mine of pure systems also, i run 2 XT40’s on the bars and 1xSSX2 on the helmet wich is plenty (overkill really) Ive also had a few SSX2’s from DX but they turned out to be fakes and not that bright (I sold them to my tight ass mate)

Lots of UK stockists for various SolarStorms on eBay but I’d like to find a genuine light (with batteries) if possible.

There are so many links on here that my head is spinning. Do we have a link to a UK supplier who has the one which has the reputed better build quality?

Don’t want to wait ages so that’s why I’m looking for a UK supplier

Hi, can you tell me what the history of the bike is please, and do you have any other models?

    Response…….
The bikes have been bought on a trade account as test bikes, they have not been used and are the same as new, we have new models arriving soon.

if located you’d lose the bike

I hope that’s the case, though i guess most will never be traced

COC is so they can rob you too if you look like a suitable victim and no electronic trace of the transaction.

    That’s worrying!

Canyon must surely have the serial numbers of these bikes. It would be a fairly simple matter to match up the ones that are obtain by fraud. I wonder if they would be interested?

Im sue canyon UK have an eye on ebay and the fact that this is ongoing says to me they are not bothered or cant do anything about it

How does CC fraud work? would the company get to keep the money?
