Hi all, answers to your questions …
I have a 55″ 4K touchscreen already installed
https://iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-tf5538uhsc-b1ag/
It will be used mainly for the user to navigate through a 4K 3D model
It will also have some 4K images and video
Also I have a 4k screen, it’s great but bare in mind you will need to scale it to 125% or so.
what does this mean ?
I have spoke to the company who have done the model and they have also advised to get a small SSD and min 16GB RAM
wompFree MemberI have an RX300h
I really like them, but ruled it out as it’s not a PHEV and the tax is over double of the BMW and Merc
its seems the only saloon PHEV available at the moment is the VW , hopefully others will be announced at the motor show this week but god knows when anything will actually be available … i literally can’t even spend someone else’s money at the moment … on another note whilst looking around I did see the Tesla model 3 which may join the list if I have to wait 12 months anyhow
Ps. Thank you

Its a shame people think there are only two Brands to consider when it comes to luxury vehicles. I’m not going to point you in any other direction because you should already be aware of other luxury vehicles in you price bracket…
I don’t know much about cars so if you know of other options based on my requirements I would appreciate it, thanks
It takes 5mins on the internet to find other luxury brands offering your requirement.
Sorry for not thanking you based on your earlier comments …though I do apreciate your comments further down the thread… that said I still can’t find any other car that is comparable to the BMW or Merc In terms of luxury brand and tax costs the nearest I can see is the Passat even after an internet search so again if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it and I would thank you, cheers ;0)
wompFree MemberAwe, don’t I get a thanks
nope..as you clearly don’t actually know anything, but feel free to keep making yourself feel important on the internet
wompFree MemberCheck the personal tax rate for the next few years, as I think its being pushed up for PHEVs.
Yes it does take a fair jump (not a lot I can do about that though.. it still seems PHEVs offer the best 3 year investment at the moment)
17/18 £116
18/19 £167
19/20 £206
wompFree MemberCheers for all you comments (apart from bikebouy)
i think I will hang on for a few weeks to see about the new merc … I found a link claiming a bigger battery and new styling , hopefully it will still be around the same price.
Is it worth a company car for those miles?
Whilst my personal miles are low my business miles are high so yes it is worth it, all business miles are payed for so fuel economy for those miles is a secondary consideration to my personal miles, in addition I would like a car I’m comfortable in whilst driving for 3 – 6 hours.
Whilt a PHEV may not make sense for most, as a company car buyer with a small commute it really does fit the bill, cheap rate personal tax for a decent car to drive during the day with free commuting costs.
wompFree MemberLexus is300h.
thanks, just had a look, it’s nice but it is double the tax charge unfortunately

wompFree MemberThought about riding a bike?
I need the car for work
‘I have just had confirmation that the merc is no longer available and a new version will announced in March
the BMW is on 6 month waiting list and is expected to be updated for 2019
‘the Passat is 6 weeks
wompFree MemberCheers, i agree the roof lift is more visually appealing but i think the dormer will give more space.
any builders around here that have any words of wisdom ?
wompFree MemberCost wise after looking online today dormers are quoted at 20k per side and a roof lift £45k so not a huge difference if that’s all it is.
I’m asumming dormers are popular because you can get 1 for 20k then 2nd dormers are added years later … ceratainly non matching around here anyhow.
And yes I agree dormers ain’t so pretty… the rendered one above doesn’t look too bad but I’m not convinced render on a wooden structure is not going to crack (though I’m no expert)
wompFree MemberThanks for all the advice
1. I will restore to factory settings and test again
2. Download a WiFi analysis app and and play with Channels (don’t expect much interference around here)
3. I have just had a look at the virgin router control panel and i can put it in modem mode so i will try and dig out my old ASUS router and test again
4. I will kindnap Richard Branson undergo a facial reconstruction / Face off surgery (whichever is easier/cheaper) and go pull myself around Necker island using his Premium 4K Porn hub account.wompFree MemberI knew i was setting myself up for a fall here
Thanks for all the comments though, it early days an im just thinking about it
my situation is im already divorced* and have two children 4 and 7, childcare is pretty much covered with school but id be looking for help with school runs twice a week (a walk down the road) and some babysitting. the main reason is i need help with my elderly mother who lives around the corner (just checking on her each day, unloading the food delivery, popping to the post office ect), never really considered driving but i guess it would be handy to get a pick up from the pub on a Friday.
*The girlfriend may go a bit mental though as i wont let her move in.

And there always were – and still are – people saying, “But not all [ethnic majority] people are racist!!!!!!” because they feel insulted or attacked – but all the non-racists have a part to play in ensuring it is driven out, is no longer socially acceptable, even in minor forms. It’s not just rapists, not just people who harass others that need to help out here.
One key factor is that, by discussing the issue more publicly, we become aware of abusive behaviours around us that we may not have noticed, or are so ingrained into society that everyone just takes it as standard.
So we should be changing our ‘socialized behaviour’. This came up earlier in the thread, but you just can’t keeping saying shit like this
Just because it’s ‘socialized’ doesn’t mean it’s OK. It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t count or isn’t hurtful, or doesn’t have measurable effects on people’s mental health.
We changed our behaviours with drink driving, with smoking around kids, with using casual racist slurs. We can do it with sexist slurs too, but people need to stop see it as an accusation and start seeing it as a challenge to make things better.
This is an interesting test and it certainly made me question some of my ingrained thought process on race ect…
wompFree MemberHaha, thanks for all the quick replies, my 9 year old GIRL has never done any online gaming and she does not have any friends with a console at the moment (it’s a new town, new school)
I’m just setting her new room up and wanted to get her a console for Christmas.
Ps, she has a track bike, a mountain bike and an Ebike
wompFree MemberWe use GoCardless, Stripe and PayPal for invoice / sub options.
This way you give users nearly every possible choice and don’t miss out on those who prefer direct debit control via their own bank over cc, don’t have / want a pp account.
Many people have bad experiences with high value cc recurring payments (e.g. subscriptions to bad gym chains) that could put them off / effecting conversion. May only be a small amount but worth considering if you are doing large volume. You end up saving on fees too.
Conversion on Stripe is awesome in comparison to the usual / clunky players.
I had not considered a DD option, my model is an annual £150 so i will look at this, thanks
Both Stripe and PayPal offer both online and offline payments. Nothing wrong with mixing but it isn’t necessary
Rachel
I was thinking that stripe would be better for onsite card payment as it does not have any charge unlike PayPal
Biggest pain is consolidating the Stripe transaction in Freeagant where as Paypal can be set up as an account with transaction automatically imported.
Yes i did consider consolidation issues but its definitely a secondary consideration to having the best best user experience / conversion.
wompFree MemberOk point taken, matt it is, I just thought gloss would look better and maybe hold out the damp as I’m turning it into a gym / zwift/ utility room
wompFree Memberthanks for all the advice and yes i shall call planning for an informal chat.
Just to make it clear, im only trying to find out my position on the issue, if i have grounds to appeal then yes it would be great to maintain my privacy, i appreciate some people don’t care if they are looked upon but personally i would prefer it if i was not, i will not be getting bent out of shape if i have no grounds to appeal, but i feel it is wise to know what my position is.
wompFree Memberi have just been through a bunch of CV’s and i must admit i did shortlist those who have cycling, swimming, triathlons.. my reason being i want like minded* people in my team, that said it could equally work for the opposite..many people hate cyclists so i would avoid putting cycling and say Triathlon, Enduro, MTB ..ect
also i hate gimmick CV’s but make it stand out with a header line and a good weight of paper, (always send a hard copy in a cardboard A4 envelope as well as an email if possible) it says you understand quality and i assume you have actually applied for the job rather than it just being one of many.
*my auto correct tried to change this to simpleminded :?
My predecessor also taught me to throw away half the CV’s without reading them as no one wants to employ an unlucky person.
wompFree MemberSo i decided to go for the XPS
New XPS 15 just launched
The new one is supposed to have 7th gen processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
but its not available yet and the sales rep was unsure when it will be available in the UK
wompFree MemberThank you all this has given me loads to think about and appreciate its all trail and error to some degree, the main reason i asked the question here is because cycling is my key sport but its at odds with the hypertrophy/strength training
to answer a few of the questions;
What am i lifting for ?
a better body composition..so some hypertrophy and additional strength as a by product..gaining what i can despite the cardio i do. the reason being i have lost 11 kg in the past year, im now 65kg at 5ft 6 my legs are fine due to the cycling but my upper body looks like a stick man and i would like to balance things out.You are 20 right?
37 8ORest ?
i have a sedentary desk job and can generally get 8/9hrs a nightNutrition
thanks for the pointers (cheers bill), i generally eat good food not crap, though its not very varied (which does not bother me i like routine) typical day is
0500 Pre commute … banana
0630 Gym
0730 Protein shake with milk and a boiled egg
1000 Boiled egg / piece of fruit
1200 Boiled egg or chicken salad
1500 Boiled egg / piece of fruit
1700 after commute…. chicken breast (or other meat/fish), veg, potato
2030 stretch and bed
* if i cycle/run in an evening i will also have supperWhat kit have you got access to?
its a basic 10×10 gym at work:
Dumbbells up to 25kg
Bench, rack, bars and weights up to 250kg
Cable machine (lat pull down, row)Pre-existing injuries?
nothing that really bothers me but i do suffer bad patella tendinitis on my left knee when i up the cycling (i mean when im doing back to back 100 mile days or big mtb days) i would obviously back off on leg days when this happens.the only other thing is my squat is off to one side, im not sure why and i cant seem to correct it (i have been stretching), i assume its something to do with my left knee or a hip imbalance. it does effect what i can squat as im working one leg more than the other so i always do dumbbell lunges to help balance things out.
Could you drive the day after “leg day”?
i can drive, i can cycle but stairs are an issue :)i have a question about bi’s and tri’s … some are saying they will get trained with other exercises others are saying combine with complementary push/pull exercises, but i have been told to do them with non related exercise so i can hit them fresh. (my arms have gone so thin i mentally feel i need to focus on then)
wompFree MemberI would be inclined to move Thursday in to Friday primarily due to the two lower back sessions.
oops, its supposed to be hamstring not lower back on the Tuesday
I would also take Wednesday off completely as a rest day to avoid exhaustion mid week.
Glaring lack of rest days
I am only doing weights 4 days a week, and running twice, its the commute that adds up but i do take it easy most of the time, i need an 8 day week
i was thinking about taking up swimming this year but cannot for the life of me imagine how i could feasibly squeeze it in
wompFree MemberCheers , I knowed STW would not fail me, as they say “who you going to call… errr hang on
wompFree MemberWhat does he actually need? Better to buy one good tool than a cheap awful multitool ,(all of the above) which will never get used as he hates it.
He is retired and has a large garden (2/3 acres) with plenty to tackle, he does look after his equipment and id like to get him something decent (i did think the ones i linked to sounded a bit to cheap, i have an uneducated guess of around £500)
i have just priced up the Stihl Kombi and it came to £975 which is a hell of a jump from the ‘cheap chines ones’ , is their anything in-between ?
wompFree MemberDoes anyone do a kids ebike for a 5 year old ? Or can I fit a an ebike kit to her Early Rider Belter 16″ ?
I see haibike and KTM do some 24″ bikes (prob good for about 8 year olds)
wompFree MemberI was going to have the dentist do mine but it was costly and decided to give the internet kit a try as it was only £25 and ive found its made a massive difference and id not want to go whiter, the trays seemed to mould ok and ive not had any issues though i do take care not to get the bleach on my gums. for £25 i cant complain
wompFree Memberthese seem to get a good reviews

wompFree MemberCost not an issue?
I have had a few cheap waterproofs over my time but ultimately found them disappointing in terms of breathability, features, pack size or cut. whilst im happy to find a bargain i am after a high performance shell so i appreciate the associated cost.
wompFree MemberThanks for the recommendations, the Castelli Idro (gore active shell) looks the perfect size and but i cant seem to find it for sale anywhere yet, and it seems to be only available in black (id prefer something more visible)
wompFree MemberI have an Aeroad 8.0 Di2 with Reynolds wheels and it’s a great bike, I regularly use it for century rides and will be using it for LEJOG soon, the 62mm wheels can take some getting used to in the wind and I’d probably recomend getting a shallower set or just a front if your using it all year round. I have had no issues with the bike and delivery was fine.
On the negative side the Canyon customer service is diabolical, I have owned 7 and still have 3, They will do anything to get out if a warranty claim so expect to fight hard and have your bike off the road for months… Read the forums and consider yourself warned from this point on
So if your not bothered about warranty or are willing to take the risk go for it, just make sure you have a spare bike :)
wompFree MemberYes I tried that first, I have a couple of sets of leg warmers but find they move about and I’m always adjusting them them as they ride down, I can manage for 20miles but anymore and it’s a PITA, they are decent north wave and castelli ones so I’m guessing they just don’t suit my chicken legs

I wish to raise our roof height to match the height of next door.
I’m curious.. Why?Creating another level
No it’s the ridge height,
Are you talking about keeping the eaves level as it is and increasing the pitch of the roof to make it steeper and taller at the ridge?
Again, why?Keeping the pitch and lifting the whole roof, I’m hoping to get it up 1 meter, will then add velux Windows
I will get the professionals in but just wanted to gauge what height I’m playing with first to see if my plan is viable
wompFree MemberI assume that you’re talking about matching the eaves level of your roof relative to an external datum point?
No it’s the ridge height,
I also forgot to mention I’m not allowed on the neighbors property
wompFree MemberCheers all
Don’t suppose you’re anywhere near west wales? You’d be welcome to try it.
thanks, but im not :(
I wouldn’t fancy doing 800 in one sitting!. Are these repeat tests or new? With that number if they are new then I’d be tempted to contract it out then maintain it after that!
yes it seems like its a big ask the more i look into it, we do have a company come in annually to do the bulk of items which is around 9000
i think ill go with the Delta PAT and i can always upgrade with a printer / bar-code if i need it at a later date.
wompFree MemberKona Honza Al?
Cheers, never considered the Kona, but does seem to fit the bill :D
wompFree MemberIm reading this thread as im looking for an
LLS
Aluminium
29er
120/130 mm
HTThe Whyte seems to get few shouts but comes with a 70/80mm stem which does not seem to fit with the LLS theme, am i missing something ?
